PROBLEM Pregnant Women- Heavy

Doctors and Nurses- Lack Efforts

Doctors and nurses in Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics are most women, who often lack efforts

Transferring pregnant women is tiring for doctors and nurses, making their backs hurt and hands shake, which has bad impact on the surgery.

USER RESEARCH User

Stakeholder Nurse

Pregnant Women1 caesarean birth

Being a nurse, i really want an equipment to help me transfer the patient to save effort. However, the management does not think the equipment is worthy paying, because labour force is always cheaper than the products.

There are 3 times of transfer before and after the surgery. I feel so scaried and surfered at that time that I just want the surrounding to be quiet.

Doctor

Pregnant Women2 natural birth

Sometimes I will shake my hands without control after helping transfering a heavy patient before the surgery, which have bad impact on my performance.

There are 2 times of transfer after the surgery. I feel relaxed after giving birth to the child safely.

TESTING Potential user 1

Doctor

I`m worried about the device`s hitting my body especially when I feel painful. Also, I feel stressed when the structure goes over my head.

It would help us. But it seems to occupy too much space.

Safety issues, stressed

Not easy to store

Potential user 2

Nurse

I am worried about dropping off from the sheet because a piece of sheet and hooks might be easy to break. It is also make me feel emotionally cold.

It is generally good for the staff. However, the structure might be too heavy if it is made by steel.

Safety issues, cold

Not easy to move

How to improve Structure: foldable

Material: lighter but with higher strength and stablility

Aesthetics: more user-friendly, softer and warmer and matches well with the operation room

BAMBOO WORKSHOP

An one-day collaborative bamboo facade design workshop for material library of the university (helped by professional handicraftsman) Handcraft, Concept Nov 2016 Group work (collabrate with an archetecture student)

Rhythm of light

The bamboo facade is designed to play with light and shadows. Light go through this facade create irregular shadow, which will be like the one from bamboo forests. The arrangement of horizontal bamboo pieces resembles the growth feature of the living bamboo (the leaves become denser from the bottom to the top of bamboo). This facade will be built in material library of the university afterwards.

SHOPPING MALL

A short workshop of conceptual design for a shopping mall. Conceptual design, branding May 2016 Group work

Rock lives in mountain, Falls down to water, grows into Pebble. You were born with keenness, Come upon the stage, Learn to be Mild. Pebble-“Edge to Round”, you-"naive to mature" Come to Mild City, Enjoy the Best "You" In Chinese culture, people were taught to be a gentleman (君子). There is an old saying in China,“谦谦君子, 温润如玉”, which means gentleman are supposed to be mild. Thus the logo adopt Chinese painting element including font and color.
