Seven Days a Week, 364 Days a Year @yourcanarywharf
CANARYWHARF.COM @canarywharflondon
Welcome T
he holiday season is nearly upon us. The trees in the malls are up, the baubles and lights are on and the place is buzzing with that festive feeling that comes round once a year. This year, we have continued to add new stores and restaurants to the Wharf. I hope you have had a chance to discover Coach and Devialet in Cabot Place and Franco Manca, Ole & Steen and Giant Robot at Crossrail Place. There will be more openings in the year ahead, with a new and highly coveted restaurant opening in Canada Square Park next summer and more shops in Crossrail Place to coincide with the opening of the Elizabeth Line. In the coming years we will also be welcoming our first residents to the Estate. In summer 2015, we launched our first residential tower 10 Park Drive. It has been a huge success with most of the apartments now sold. Following the success of 10 Park Drive, we launched One Park Drive in May this year. One Park Drive is the first residential tower by Herzog & de Meuron in the UK. The architecture of the building is incredible and it will become our signature residential tower.
For us, the introduction of residential to our offering is very exciting; these future residents will join what is already an established community of local residents, workers and tourists who visit the Wharf frequently. The ice rink, a familiar site at Canary Wharf each year, has returned to Canada Square Park. It is one of London’s largest outdoor rinks. Lit by a canopy of 1,000 Edison LED light bulbs and set against the backdrop of Canary Wharf, it provides a skating experience unlike any other. In the weeks leading up to Christmas, music from the likes of Ember Trio, gospel singers Incognito, Jack Pack, Paul Pashley and others will fill the malls. For families, we will be hosting festive screenings of Home Alone and The Muppets Christmas Carol at Everyman Canary Wharf in Crossrail Place. There will also be mini golf in Montgomery Square and various festive giveaways and pop-ups to help you enjoy your time here. We really appreciate your custom and feel it is you who make Canary Wharf the place it is. Wishing you a wonderful time for the holiday season ahead.

WARdrobe As runway and reality merge, take your cue from the trends that made an impact this season; red, trouser suit and velvet
lady in red / style
lady in red From scarlet and deep wines, to burgundy and crimson, if one colour dominated the catwalks this season, it was most certainly red. Quickly becoming the colour of A/W17, it’s now easier than ever to incorporate it into your wardrobe. Embrace the trend and go head-to-toe in same-tone separates or opt for a striking statement red coat. Alternatively, you could simply add some delicate red accessories to give your outfit a pop of colour. Either way, wearing the fiery shade in any capacity will give you that extra boost of confidence. Dress, £59.99, Mango, Canada Place

style / suit up
suit up The biggest trend to come off the catwalks for A/W17 was the trouser suit. Coloured, patterned and in all forms of fabric, trouser suits are making an impact this season. What’s better, you can forget any preconceptions of unflattering, shapeless or boring suits, as brands have taken the style and made it sleek with a mix of tailored essentials that are chic and pieces that are purposefully, and fashionably, loose to suit. Teamed with the right accessories, you can make your outfit work hard both in and out of the office. Blazer, £69.99, Trousers, £29.99, Zara, Cabot Place

This year, the trend takes a more innovative turn; you’ll be able to find the fabric in all forms of clothing and accessories, including jackets, jumpsuits, shoes and trouser suits too. For that extra luxurious feel this season, get your loved one a timepiece in rose gold. The Omega Seamaster is one of the most recognisable watches ever made – first introduced in 1938, it’s the watch of choice for James Bond. The Aqua Terra model here features a chocolate dial that combines with the rose gold indicators and bezel for a luxurious feel. Chocolate is the perfect accompanying colour, as seen again on Links of London’s chronograph watch, an impressive timepiece to wear throughout the day.

Rose gold adds a certain elegance to any woman’s watch. TAG Heuer’s Carrera, for instance, was inspired by the glamorous side of motor sport, and the decadence that came with it in its heyday – the rose gold bezel and dials lend a sophistication to a sportier watch. Tiffany’s 2-Hand 28mm timepiece ramps up the extravagance with a ring of round brilliant diamonds on its 18ct rose gold crown and a white alligator strap.

seasonal must-haves
It’s incredibly important to look after and protect your skin and hair during the colder months; invest in the very best of beauty products to replenish and hydrate
Masks
Oils & Serums
Face masks are a great, easy way to address a multitude of skin-related issues. With such a variety of products available, you’ll be sure to find something that works well for your skin and its needs. If you just don’t have the time for a pamper every day or two, an overnight mask like the Vitamin E one from The Body Shop is perfect for you. Simply apply it before you go to bed and let it sink into your skin, working its magic while you sleep.
You wouldn’t think so, but oils and serums can be great for giving oily skin an extra boost of moisture. They work well as a lighter alternative to heavy moisturising creams. Bobbi Brown’s oil cleanser is gentle and effective.

Body Creams & Scrubs With less moisture in the air, winter is a really important time to look after your skin. Make sure to regularly use an exfoliating body scrub such as the Lumière Dorée scrub from Miller Harris. This will help to get rid of any dead skin cells, and have your skin feeling soft and supple. Follow this with a moisurising body cream such as Jo Malone London’s English Oak & Redcurrant. Heavier creams like this are more suitable for winter and will help to keep skin that is particularly susceptible to dryness hydrated, even in the colder climate. For those with naturally oily skin, sticking to a lighter moisturiser or serum should do the trick.

Men’s Care Caring for your hair and skin this winter is just as important for men as it is women. Using a good shaving oil with moisturising properties is really important. Acqua Di Parma’s Collezione Barbiere is great for dry skin and will make sure your skin stays nourished. Use L’Occitane’s Cade Complete Care moisturiser afterwards, as this works to calm and soothe skin, protecting it from irritation.
The winter months can take their toll on our hair, making it dry and harder to work with. Avoid dull, damaged-looking hair by using a good shampoo and conditioner. Molton Brown’s selection smells heavenly and works like magic. Follow up with a heat defence spray from Toni & Guy to minimise any damage that could be caused by styling.

The best sound
in the world
C
anary Wharf will welcome extraordinary audio company Devialet to Cabot Place at the end of November. And with more than 60 awards under its belt already, it’s safe to say the brand has shaken up the world of music. “The company was founded in France ten years ago by Pierre-Emmanuel Calmel, Emmanuel Nardin and Quentin Sannié, three French men boasting engineering, design and entrepreneurial backgrounds with a shared passion for music and exceptional sound,” Devialet’s UK and Ireland general manager Victor D’Allancé explains. “Their vision was simple: change the standard of sound.” In the quest to stick to their mission statement, the talented trio invented a revolutionary system combining the two main methods of amplification, analogue and digital, to create Analogue Digital Hybrid (ADH®). Combining the two means that you can benefit from the excellent quality analogue provides, as well as the power that digital allows.
With such a game-changing asset in hand, Devialet went on to secure worldclass investors from the likes of music icon Jay Z and French mogul Bernard Arnault, as well as partnering with Sky UK. “Our Canary Wharf branch is the latest in our global expansion within the UK. We have massive ambition in this country, but we don’t want to be everywhere. We want to be in the best places and Canary Wharf is one of those places for us.” With Christmas around the corner, it is the perfect time to treat yourself, or others, to unbeatable sound. “This holiday season customers can give the gift of the true emotion of music, reproduced exactly as the artist intended,” D’Allancé says. “Our Gold Phantom, known for the purity of its sound, can reach 108 decibels – the same level as a live rock concert – and offers an incredible level of power, clarity and precision with zero distortion, saturation, and background noise. Put simply, it’s the best sound in the world.”
star service If you want to take your Phantom away on the day, you can. If you want it delivered to your home, Devialet can do that. If you want it to be sent to Dubai, ready for when you go home in a few days, Devialet will deliver. D’Allancé says: “We try and facilitate everything for customers, especially over Christmas.”

For cheese lovers, Obicà – the world’s first ever mozzarella bar – is heaven, and what better time of year to indulge? Franco Manca
If you want to find the most authentic (and delicious) pizza in London, Franco Manca is the place to go. It’s made from slow-rising sourdough and is baked in a woodburning oven; the slow levitation and blast cooking process lock in the flour’s natural aroma and moisture, giving a soft and easily digestible crust. Ingredient provenance really matters to the Franco Manca team and is listed on the menus – the mozzarella is from Somerset, kalamata olives from Greece and organic tomatoes from Italy, of course. The menu is confidently simple – seven pizzas are joined by daily specials, small bites (including olives, garlic bread and burrata) and post pizza desserts, as well as organic wine and ‘No Logo’ beer and cider. It’s just as easy to pop in for a quick lunch, or grab a pizza to take away, as it is to settle down on a dark evening with a drink and warm up with the best kind of comfort food.

veryone loves watching classic Christmas movies when December hits. Whether it’s because you associate them with great memories, or your children are watching those festive films for the very first time, it’s one of the most exciting aspects of Christmas. This year, Canary Wharf Group are putting on special screenings at Everyman cinema in Crossrail Place, so that you can have that magical cinema experience while watching your favourite Christmas films. What’s better, you’ll be watching from the incredibly plush sofastyle seating, complete with footrests for guaranteed comfort. With state-of-theart sound and screens, you can sit back,
relax and put your feet up. Literally. The cinema offers a delicious choice of food and drink that can be delivered to your seat before the film begins, whether that’s hot food like the irrisistable hot dogs or savoury and sweet snacks. With an extensive list of drinks to choose from, you won’t be left thirsty. Pick from milkshakes and soft drinks to wines, beers and a range of classic cocktails. If you get there a little early, take a seat and grab some drinks in the pre-film lounge. It’s just as cosy and radiates Everyman’s signature retro-charm. Home Alone and The Muppet Christmas Carol are just two of the films worth booking in a seat for this December. canarywharf.com

Returning for the fourth time this January to Canary Wharf are the dramatically hypnotic and artistically inventive light installations and interactive art of its spectacular Winter Lights exhibition
“I
n order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present”, said English philosopher Francis Bacon. Fittingly then, Canary Wharf’s stunning Winter Lights exhibition – which won Best Creative Lighting Event at the 2017 Darc Awards – takes place from Tuesday 16 until Saturday 27 January, illuminating the darkest time of year with its eye-catching sculptures, structures and installations. With the invention of artificial electric lights and the popularity of

photography and motion pictures came a boom in modern Light Art, a field within the creative world that has benefitted enormously from advances in technology and which has rapidly developed as a result. Winter Lights is London’s only annual Light Art exhibition and it showcases this dynamic art form with works by more than 20 artists and designers from all over the world. As Light Art can be appreciated and enjoyed not only by art fans but also by both the young and old, it’s an ideal, inclusive family excursion. c a n a r y w h a r f . co m
winter lights / events On Your Wavelength, Marcus Lyall, UK
Winter Lights is free to visit; explore Canary Wharf from 5pm, when the installations come alive, brightening the darkness until 10pm daily. Worth seeking out are a number of UK firsts, including Collectif Coin’s Abstract from France, a 128-pixel matrix in which every pixel can move over its vertical axis between the ground and a four-metre crest. It cleverly interweaves movement, sound and light, repeating a 20-minute loop inspired by “the concept of time and relativity”, and can be found in Montgomery Square. Marcus Lyall’s interactive installation On Your Wavelength (Crossrail Level-3) will be returning to the exhibition, having been commissioned by Canary Wharf Group in 2017. Participants control the futuristic light and sound installation via an EEG headset; as their thoughts change, a light tunnel fitted with over 30,000 LEDs creates spellbinding patterns.

Areas to visit Wrap up warm and pick up a steaming coffee or hot chocolate from one of the many cafes before exploring the striking outdoor artworks and installations in the distinctive parks and plazas of Canary Wharf. Highlights include Light Graffiti in the Crossrail Place Roof Garden, Abstract in Montgomery Square, Halo in Cabot Square and Apparatus Florius in Westferry Circus. The exhibition also features a specially curated indoor section of works, which can be found in the basement of the newly constructed Crossrail Station and in the expansive Roof Garden at Crossrail Place.
