MONTMATRE ART INSTITUTE
01
Social Intervention | Studio: Architectural Design and the City | 6 weeks | Spring 2013
The project of Montmatre Art Institute consists of four factors contribute to the design process: the Basilica of Sacre Coeur, stairs right next to the site, nearby artists, and local residents. The institute therefore establishs a platform for interactions between students and local artists, and serves as a central node for the pedestrian traffic by providing a viewport of the basilica for residents and visitors.

PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE
02
Urban Intervention | Studio: Architectural Design and the City | 2 weeks | Spring 2013 Collaboration: Adrienne Stromn, Wenxin Chen, Will Prescott
In this project a bridge is built in the pre-existing industrial site to reactivate the area. A river flowing through the site cuts it into two parts. On both sides are industrial factories or abandoned buildings. This bridge is part of a larger renovation program that turns the current site into an industrial park. The main objective of the bridge is to integrate with the landscape and to merge the two banks together, therefore reviving the neighborhood and bring affinity to the area.

Urban Plug-in | Studio: Architectural design and the city | 6 weeks | Spring 2013
The idea of the design come from a typical “cour française”, a French courtyard, which can be only partially seen from the street. The confined view give people a mysterious feeling before they enter, and as they get inside, the view suddenly opens up and creates a completely deferent experience. The courtyard also forms a comfortable space for communication, and interacts with the programs surround it.
