So you want to learn how to create a blog on WordPress? That’s great! This guide will take you through ten walkthroughs which are to be followed to start a blog successfully on WordPress.
But before I begin here are a few facts about WordPress I have gathered for you: WordPress was founded by Christine Selleck Tremoulet, a blogger, and a friend of Matt Mullenweg who is a co-founder of WordPress. WordPress is an open-source software which means anyone in this world can download it, modify it and use it. WordPress is not owned by a particular company, that means WordPress has no CEO. Volunteer developers across the world run it. WordPress has more than 50,000 plugins and is available in 68+ languages. WordPress is crafted in PHP programming language and 20% of it consists of JavaScript. The first version of WordPress was released on May 27, 2003, and now it powers over 172 million websites across the globe (including WordPress.com). So you got a bird’s eye on little facts about WordPress. Now let’s come to the point.
How To Create A Blog on WordPress? I have divided the whole guide into ten simple steps. Do not worry. It’s very simple and I will help you guide through them. Here you go… 1/14
1) Set Your Blog Name When you are going to create a blog on WordPress you first need a relevant name for your blog. Without a name, no one cannot identify your blog in the crowd. So in order to choose a good name for your blog search for the topic you are passionate about and have enough knowledge to write on it. It may be travel, technology, cooking, fashion, accessories or something different. Choosing a good blog name is crucial. When choosing a name try to be short, simple and easy to remember. That means your blog name should be • Easy to spell • Easy to remember • Easy to write • Have your main keyword There are lots of online blog name generators you can use in case you get stuck in this level. Tools like Name Boy, NameMesh, Domain.com, IsltWP, Panabee, Domain Wheel are great for getting a catchy name for your blog. In my case, I chose my name as Bulksinfo. You can read our About Us page to know why I named my blog so.
2) Register A Domain This is one of the interesting parts to create a blog on WordPress. Once you are done with your blog name your next job is to register a domain name for it. A domain is basically an address or URL your blog is located over at. For example. Facebook.com (domain), instagram.com (domain) etc. In my case my blog name is Bulksinfo. So I got a .com domain registered for it. Whatever name you gave to your blog getting a domain for it is essential. For a domain, you can go on to GoDaddy and search for a domain as per your blog name. Sometimes what happens is that you may not find the exact domain name because someone already bought that. For example, Google.com is already owned by Google. You cannot have the same name twice. However, no need to worry. Your domain providers will bombard you with few more alternatives you can choose from to ensure you do not go empty-handed. Whoa!

For your convenience, I have given a quick walkthrough regarding how to buy a domain from GoDaddy: a) Head over to GoDaddy’s website from Google. b) In the search box put your blog name and hit enter. In my case, I entered the name ‘enterwpsite’.
c) GoDaddy will show you if the domain is available for me or has already been bought by someone. As you can see, ‘enterwpsite’ is available so I can buy it. If bought, you will get alternatives or you can edit your blog name according to your choice also. See the picture belowd) Next click on Continue to Cart. But before that always check the spelling thoroughly.
3/14
e) You will be directed to this page where you will be asked to choose several additional options. Select only Privacy Protection as I did and click on Continue to Cart.
f) Fill up your payment details in this page You can use your credit card or debit card or go for net banking. Click on Save.
4/14
g) Finally hit on Complete Purchase. Now you will be redirected to the payment website where GoDaddy will automatically deduct the total purchase amount from your account.
Note: When registering a domain try to buy extensions like .com, .net or .org. Because they tend to rank better on search engines including Google. And who says in the next of years you might rank on the top pages!
3) Get Your Hosting If you are going to create a blog on WordPress you should not neglect the hosting. 5/14
A hosting is a server which keeps all the data and information of your website stored securely on the internet. As servers remain active 24×7 hours anyone can access your website from any time. This helps you avoid the headache of downtime of your website. Different companies are out there who proud themselves of providing high-quality server uptime and security for their customers. If you belong to India there are many Indian hosting companies like ResellerClub, BigRock, HostGator, etc. Personally, my website is hosted on ResellerClub hosting. I have been using it and till now I faced hardly any problem with it. To be frank, I am happy with this buddy! Here is a quick walkthrough regarding how to host a WordPress blog on ResellerClub: a) Head over to ResellerClub official website from Google and sign up for a new account. ( Don’t forget the login details) b) Go to HOSTING and from the drop menu choose Shared Hosting. As you are a beginner I will highly recommend you to buy a shared hosting first. c) On the next page, you can see there is three type of plans of ResellerClub – Personal, Business and Pro (see picture below).
d) Choose the personal plan. Set the year limit and click on BUY NOW. e) In the following page untick CodeGuard and SiteLock as they are not necessary if you are a beginner. Enter the domain name you purchased from GoDaddy and click on CONTINUE TO CHECKOUT.
6/14
f) Before you checkout finally, check your hosting details and payment amount in this page. Next click on PROCEED TO CHECKOUT.
g) Just like GoDaddy, you will be redirected to the payment provider’s website. Enter your payment details and checkout from there. It’s as simple as I said. Never get too tensed. Just stay calm and all will be done.
4) Connect Domain to Hosting And finally, you have a domain and a hosting ready to structure your website. Connecting domain to hosting is very easy. I say it a cakewalk. You can say anything! 7/14
After buying your hosting you will get an email in your account which your hosting provider sent to you. There you will find two nameservers which are of our use. If you are done till now then next login to your GoDaddy account. Hover to Avatar > My Products. GoDaddy will show you your domain which you have bought recently.
Now just follow as I say: • Click on DNS just beside the domain name. You will see sections like Records, Nameservers, etc.
• Go to Nameservers and click on Change > Custom • Next copy the nameservers you got in your email and paste them here. Do it separately and one by one in two slots.
After putting the nameservers check it properly and then click on Save. Now all you have to do is to wait till your nameservers get updated. It takes roughly a day or less than 24 hours. You need not open your GoDaddy account again and again to check the update. When the whole process will be done you will receive an email from GoDaddy saying you successfully change your nameservers. 8/14
5) Installing WordPress This is one of my favorite methods when it comes to creating a blog on WordPress. Because you can easily install WordPress on your hosting with a couple of clicks only. However, if you want you can do it manually also. I did my WordPress installation manually. Because I wanted to learn the basics first so that if any hosting company even do not allow one-click WordPress installation I can do it on my own. So here I am going to take you through the manual process. Again I ensure you do not worry, everything will be fine. Initially, I did not know anything about these, so I learned from YouTube and tried my own. And hopefully, it worked! So let’s do it‌ See the live video below. I borrowed this video from SidTalk.
