Why use Hytak boards?
Yellow Hytak traps are used to monitor and trap a wide range of small flying insect pests, including whitefly, thrips, aphid, leaf miner and sciarid fly
The yellow colour is selected to be especially attractive to the whitefly species Trialeurodes vaporariorum and Bemisia tabaci
Hytak boards have a convenient hook and holes for hanging on crop wires or on stakes
They available in 3 sizes: 10 x 25 cm, 20 x 25 cm, 40 x 25 cm
A key feature of Hytak boards is the glue type that gives top performance against key pest species, such as whiteflies and aphids, yet reduces the catch of larger beneficial species, including bumble bees and predators
Use wet glue Hytak traps for longer-lasting performance. Dry glue IMPACT traps remain the best choice to trap against large, robust species, which are able to walk out of the wet glue
How to use Hytak boards?
Place the boards just above the crop, where they are clearly visible to pests
Move the traps upwards as the crop grows, with the base of the traps 10-20 cm above the crop
For Monitoring
Count and record the number of each pest species per trap, weekly
Use the counts to inform decision making
Replace the traps when they are full of pests, or if they become contaminated with dust
