YOUR RUSSWOOD OAK FLOOR Our floors boast the following benefits;

17th Century is our truly luxurious range of aged and distressed oak flooring, which is available in both solid and engineered oak. If you are looking for something that is reminiscent of a Tudor property, yet retains the vibrancy of a brand new floor, or something that will provide a striking contrast to modern decor, 17th Century is the ideal choice.

High quality French oak which is widely considered to be the finest oak available worldwide.

To create your 17th Century floor we first apply your selected distressing technique, in order to produce one of the following effects;

Long boards are guaranteed, giving you a stunning overall effect.

Hand-selected and graded boards ensure that a consistently high quality is achieved. Wide range of widths, grades, styles and colours enables you to create a bespoke look.

Experience in advising customers on their flooring choice, fitting, finishing and aftercare gives you peace of mind that all of your questions will be answered.

Rolled (1) This effect is produced by machining the top of the boards, which results in surface indentations and a lightly distressed look.

Reputation for quality means you can rest assured that we will go out of our way to exceed your expectations. Exclusivity of our floors, which are made-to-order and cannot be purchased anywhere else in the UK.

Tumbled This effect is similar but more pronounced than the rolled option as the boards are more heavily distressed, particularly on the edges. Hand scraped (2) In order to add style and authenticity, the edges of the boards are scraped by hand to provide that special final touch. This is reminiscent of a technique used years ago, prior to machine-based sanding, and the stunning effect holds true today.

Versatility of the range means that both our solid and engineered oak ranges are suitable for use with underfloor heating. PEFC-certified products give you reassurance that your floor is truly sustainable. Style options 1

In our rolled, tumbled and hand scraped boards all knots are hand-filled with a natural filler, which dries to produce sunken knots typical of authentic, aged floors. The knots are then hand-polished to create that really special effect. Brushed (3) For a textured floor the boards are hand-filled and machine-brushed to remove the soft spring wood, leaving the harder summer wood with some slightly sunken knots. This accentuates the grain and figuring and gives the floor a distinct look which is perfect for period properties. Cross sawn (4) The boards are scored to give the impression of a floor created using traditional methods. They are also left with raised knots, which were a feature of the period and, finally, hand-brushed and aged to give the impression of hundreds of years of use.

Colour options

Finally, the boards are machine-coated with your choice of Osmo coloured oil. We highly recommend our double smoked option; this effect is achieved by twice smoking the oak and finishing with a rich ebony oil which creates a beautiful deep chocolate colour.
