Oak Flooring
There’s been a sawmill on the Russwood site since the early 1940’s. We process and manufacture a range of architectural cladding and decking products whilst working closely with our Dutch partners to supply the best of European Oak flooring. “It’s all about the timber” said Managing Director, John Russell. “We have an established team of experts who can help advise you on every aspect of our products, from suitability and performance to detailing and specification; we pride ourselves on our knowledge and customer care.”
RUSSWOOD OAK FLOORING Our boards are hand selected and graded to meet our exacting quality and grading standards. A range of widths, styles, colours and grades are available for you to create your bespoke look. A good indication of a superior floor is board length, therefore, we guarantee that 70% of our solid boards are over 1.7m and our engineered boards average 2.4m. This, along with a ‘consistent look’ and interesting figuring combine to make our flooring a market leading product. All our flooring is suitable for domestic and commercial use. We have years of experience and employ expert staff who are not only able to advise you on your flooring choice but also on the fitting, finishing and aftercare, giving you complete peace of mind and ensuring that your project is a total success.
CHATEAU A smooth contemporary take on oak flooring; the sleek, natural look of these modern boards can unify and enhance any modern living space. Chateau is available in three grades, which refers to the number and size of knots visible and means that every look can be achieved. As our Chateau flooring is pre-finished, all boards are machine coated twice with an Osmo hard wax oil of your choice from our colour guide, which can be found on our website.
BRUSHED To create this effect, wire brushes are used to pull out the softer spring wood which exposes the harder summer wood, thus accentuating the grain and creating a beautifully textured surface. Brushed oak is available in three grades, which refers to the number and size of knots visible and means that every look can be achieved. As our Brushed flooring is pre-finished, all boards are machine coated twice with an Osmo hard wax oil of your choice from our colour guide which can be found on our website.
17TH CENTURY A luxurious flooring choice which evokes a feeling of times past, this aged and distressed look can be enhanced using a range of techniques: hand scraped edges, rolling and tumbling can be chosen either individually or as a combination for you to create your bespoke look and feel. The knots are hand filled with a natural filler which dries to produce sunken knots and, as our 17th Century oak is pre-finished, all boards are machine coated twice with an Osmo hard wax oil of your choice from our colour guide. Please see our website for details.
CROSS SAWN Truly unique and highly individual, this bespoke flooring option offers a very distinctive look and feel. Each board is cross-sawn and finished by hand using techniques reminiscent of bygone days; knots are left raised; tool marks are visible and the boards are brushed by hand, all to create an impression of hundreds of years of use. Although available in both solid and engineered oak, the solid boards will show off a more dramatic effect. As Cross-sawn is a hand-made product, every board is different and comes hand oiled with 3 applications from a choice of 7 bespoke colours. Please see our web site for details.
UNFINISHED A blank canvas, our unfinished oak flooring gives you complete control over the look and finish of your floor. Solid boards are available in three different grades which refers to the presence and size of natural wood knots: Character B; where open knots and imperfections are left unfilled to retain the traditional, natural look of the floor; Character A, where all knots have been filled and sanded to complement the natural figuring and colour of the board; Prime, where there are fewer, smaller knots giving a more clean, contemporary look to the board. Engineered boards are available in Character A (as above) and Prime plus which is our cleanest grade with only very few pin-hole knots present.
OAK PARQUET First introduced as a concept at the palace of Versailles in 1684, as a replacement for marble floors, the timeless elegance of a parquet floor lives on. Unfinished, the parquet blocks come in two grades: Classic, where knots and figuring are visible and Select which is cleaner in appearance. Both these options require a light sand after fitting before being finished on site by a professional. For a more contemporary look, our prefinished parquet is brushed and supplied in the colour of your choice. It can also be smoked to create more colour variation if required.
MARITIME PINE French maritime pine is a traditional softwood flooring option which can be considered as a cost-effective alternative to oak. As a rustic, knotty timber, French maritime pine is characterised by the attractively prominent colour variation between the redder heartwood and the cream coloured sapwood. Our pine is supplied unfinished, allowing you to create your own look on site. Please note that this product is not suitable for use with underfloor heating. Available in two widths and the option of either smooth or brushed boards.
