Hi-Rise LIU deal: The ‘rights stuff’ UNIVERSITY GETS ATHLETIC FIELDS, ACADEMIC SPACE AND PARKING, DEVELOPER GETS A TALLER ON-CAMPUS TOWER BY LORE CROGHAN The Record This summer, developer RXR Realty started constructing a 34-story, 476-unit apartment building at 196 Willoughby St. on Long Island University’s Downtown Brooklyn campus. At groundbreaking ceremonies last week for the sleek high-rise, RXR Executive Vice President Seth Pinsky proclaimed: “We are creating new housing and new jobs for the Downtown Brooklyn community and we’re also bringing significant resources to an important New York institution.” Next to the high-rise, the developers are building an adjacent low-rise building that will belong to the university, with athletic fields on its roof and academic space and a parking garage inside. Chief judge’s state constitutional amendments aim to modernize the judicial system RESOLUTION MUST PASS STATE LEGISLATURE AND GET THUMBS-UP FROM VOTERS: Under the chief judge's proposal, the Supreme Court would be merged with the Court of Claims in 2022 and with the County, Family and Surrogate's courts by 2025.
