Financial Aid Awareness Week ~ “Know Before You Owe” Submitted by Nicole LaRue
For it to have been “Dead Week” at Rust College (the period in which no activities are held to allow students to prepare for their finals), the campus was buzzing with information. On Monday, February 24, the Financial Aid Office kicked the week off with their annual Financial Aid Awareness Week with their “Know Before You Owe” theme. The whole week was dedicated to helping students understand the importance of their financial aid and the loan process. “Each year the month of February is set aside by most schools for financial aid awareness. We chose the last week in February and we want to try to keep the students engaged and informed about the different processes [of financial aid] and answer any questions they may have,” said Mrs. Helen Street, Financial Aid Director. “We also try to encourage students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the upcoming year.”
