ABOUT THE POSITION Reporting to the Associate Director for Strategic Outreach, the Multimedia Content Coordinator is an integral part of the Strategic Outreach and Marketing Team within the Office of Career Exploration and Success (CES). In consultation with the associate director, this position will serve as the primary expert on multimedia engagement and serve as a secondary graphic designer within the department. The incumbent will produce videos, social media content, email messaging, and other virtual multimedia materials designed to increase engagement with CES. The incumbent will also hire, train, and supervise multiple student interns to assist with video production and content writing.

25% – SOCIAL MEDIA:

This person in this role will directly manage the five @ RutgersCareers social media platforms (i.e., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn) and generate a strategy to ensure that engaging multimedia content is distributed to all platforms on a regular basis, to include, but not limited to, live social media coverage at events. The coordinator will also work with campus social media partners to increase the office’s social media reach. The coordinator will also hire, train, and supervise at least one student content writer intern to assist with written content creation for all multimedia communications.

25% – VIDEO PRODUCTION AND DESIGN:

The coordinator manages the production of video projects, plans and executes viewership impact strategies, and develops creative ideas to increase audience engagement with the Office of Career Exploration and Success (CES). Utilizing established brand elements, the coordinator will create and organize multimedia content, including video, graphic design, GIFs, email banners, digital advertisements, infographics, and more. The incumbent will serve as a secondary graphic designer for the department and will also assist in organizing, maintaining, and archiving marketing files (e.g., packaging digital files, design job folders, as well as video interviews and “b-roll” etc.), vector graphics, and photos. The coordinator will also hire, train, and supervise at least one student videographer intern.

20% – EMAIL COMMUNICATION:

The coordinator will develop content, design, and implement direct email marketing campaigns, and oversee the distribution of the weekly Career Pulse e-newsletter. The incumbent will utilize graphics, personalization, and advanced features to upgrade CES email templates based on response data. This role will also analyze email campaign performance and identify improvements. Additionally, the coordinator will develop content and proofread emails for clarity, grammar, and spelling.

15% – WEB CONTENT:

The multimedia content coordinator will serve as the primary individual responsible for the Drupal-based careers.rutgers.edu site. Responsibilities include managing the website to ensure an effective user experience; publishing content that delivers key messages to various audiences; evaluating metrics to drive strategy; troubleshooting technical problems with the Office of Information Technology Systems; and ensuring consistent messaging and presentation across all multimedia platforms.

10% – MARKETING PROGRAMS:

As a member of the Strategic Outreach Team, the coordinator will assist in the development and implementation of office-wide marketing campaigns. They will also help with department engagement and promotional projects, participate in programs and strategic initiatives, street team events, and more.

The coordinator will participate in various office-wide, unit, and team meetings. The coordinator will be expected to take advantage of professional development opportunities related to their role.


ABOUT US

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • • •

A minimum a bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. A minimum of two years of experience in career services, marketing, and/or design environment. Ability to work with a highly diverse population, excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and a strong commitment to teamwork, student development, and customer service. Detail-oriented, flexible, organized, and have the ability to work independently as well as on a team.

Experience managing an organization’s social media accounts. Proficiency in current graphic design trends/Adobe Creative Suite, use of video equipment. Experience working with a content management system (i.e. Drupal, WordPress) and Google Analytics. Experience working with a project management system.

We are committed to assisting students with making connections between their academic experience and career paths. We provide career-related counseling, resources, and programs to help individuals clarify academic and career goals, establish career plans, develop job-search skills, and make successful career transitions. We build relationships with alumni, employers, and graduate schools to optimize internship, job, and career opportunities while also creating strategic partnerships with campus departments to assist students in developing and articulating co-curricular experiences that will help to ensure they are competitive in their future pursuits. In spring 2013, an Operations & Strategic Initiatives unit was created to provide the necessary support for marketing, technology, assessment, and administration. In summer 2013, the office developed the career interest cluster approach to service delivery now emulated across the country. In spring 2017, the then University Career Services integrated with the First-year Interest Group Seminars (FIGS) department allowing the office to integrate career development into transition courses for first-year first-semester students. In summer 2019, the Chancellor announced that the office would now report directly to the Office of the Chancellor. The title of the office was changed from University Career Services to Career Exploration and Success to attract first-year and sophomore students further while reflecting the unit’s holistic approach to career development.


ONE UNIT AMONG FOUR This position is part of the Strategic Outreach and Marketing team, which is one of three teams within the Operations & Strategic Initiatives unit. Comprising the overall Office of Career Exploration & Success are four units each with a director: Career Readiness & Experiential Education, Career Communities & Transitions, Employer Connections & Engagement, and Operations & Strategic Initiatives.
