Office of Continuing Professional Education

The Safe Drinking Water Act Regulatory Update January 26 and February 2, 2012 Registration fee: $285 Multi fee: $245 NJ licensed water operator fee: $142.50 (T, W, or VSWS only) 1.0 CEU’s/10 TCHs Approval #01-011201-10 This two-day course will cover key provisions of both the Federal and State Safe Drinking Water Act regulations and will address critical issues impacting the water industry in 2012. Given the recent reorganization of the Division of Water Supply, the program will introduce the new management team for Safe Drinking Water program implementation. Topics will include the implementation of the Groundwater Rule; the practical considerations for the proposed Total Coliform Rule regulation; and plans to regulate permits for the construction of public community water systems. The program will highlight the increasing importance of capacity development and asset management in the determination of the viability of water systems. Both issues could affect a utility’s ability to apply for future infrastructure funding. The course will also present a case study of a utility’s view of operating a major water treatment plant during a significant storm event. The course will provide a thorough overview of existing personal and Safe Drinking Water programs for both experienced and those new to the field. NJDEP personnel will be available on both days to answer individual questions and address water system concerns.

This course has been submitted for continuing education credit approval for Certified Public Works Managers, REHS and New Jersey Health Officers.
