Sticks and Stones Friday, October 24, 10:45am Capitol Theatre Curriculum Connections: Anti-Bullying, Social Studies, Theater Grades: 3- 6 An interactive performance fueled by audience participation and energy, students can examine and determine their role in the bullying trio comprised of the bullied, the bystander, and the bully. With an emphasis on tolerance, empathy and compassion, audiences are inspired to change through personal courage and social responsibility by listening to someone else’s experiences and recognizing themselves through others.

Rip Van Winkle: Washington Irving’s Great Sportin’ Adventure December 15, 10:45am Capitol Theatre Curriculum Connections: History, Language Arts & Literacy, Theater, Visual Arts Grades: K – 5 This original musical featuring a cast of giant puppets, shadows, and traditional puppets brings to life American author Washington Irving’s famous short story “Rip Van Winkle.” When Rip Van Winkle and his hunting dog Wolfie get lost in the woods in the dark of the moon, they happen to meet Captain Henry Hudson. When Rip accepts Henry’s challenge to a magical bowling match he learns you have to work hard to make your dreams come true.
