Group Sales
Richard B. Baumgardner Center for the Performing Arts To Our Group Supporters of the Performing Arts: I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jim Nixon and I am your Group & Advertising Sales Coordinator here at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Please accept my personal THANK YOU to each of you for another great year at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Our success is largely because of YOU, our Group Leaders! It has been a pleasure getting acquainted, growing our relationship with each of you, and experiencing your ongoing support of the performing arts. Keep in mind that groups of 15 or more qualify for a 10% discount on most shows; 50 or more qualify for a 20% discount. The Broadway Series at Ruth Eckerd Hall this season includes our Tony Award®-winning lineup: MEMPHIS, Fiddler on the Roof, South Pacific and Beauty and the Beast. Our comedies, dance, operas, classic concerts and various other great performances will provide an unbelievable array of shows from which to choose for an afternoon or evening of entertainment. Don’t forget to order your pre-show box lunch for an additional $8.00. See page 15 for menu items. Box lunches for $8.00 and buffet dinners for $12.00 each for groups on select shows (regularly priced at $17) are being offered again this year. Other advantages of buying as a group: Ruth Binnicker Swann Eckerd is more than our namesake. She is our inspiration. Motivated to give back to their community, Ruth and Jack Eckerd actively supported nonprofit organizations that focused on children, education, health care, and the arts. Ruth’s involvement in our performing arts center began even before ground was broken. As Ruth Eckerd Hall’s President and CEO Robert Freedman said, “Their contribution made this project happen. It was Jack’s wish for the Hall to be named after Ruth and she was extremely proud of the fact that this building was here for the citizens of Clearwater.” Ruth’s hand was evident in many of the choices made in the formative years of our Hall. It is therefore fitting that the new logo you see here is inspired by her signature, chosen to remind us of our roots and her strong commitment to the arts, her desire to improve and inspire. It is our mission to carry her vision far into the future, honoring Ruth and her legacy by serving the community and the arts she so loved.

One of America’s most endearing and enduring stars, Tony Orlando is known for his warmth, his energy, a host of hits including five that made it to #1, a successful TV variety show, roles in movies and on Broadway, and as a popular casino entertainer. It all began with the surprise hit Candida, followed by Knock Three Times (top-selling song of 1971), Sweet Gypsy Rose, Cupid, He Don’t Love You, and, of course, his signature song of 1973, Tie A Yellow Ribbon ‘Round The Ole Oak Tree, now an ongoing American anthem of hope, homecoming, reunion and renewal.
Let this lavish Charles Jones adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless tale transport you to the snowy streets of nineteenth century Victorian England. Join Ebenezer Scrooge and the ghostly visitors that haunt his nights and take him on a transformational journey. The crotchety curmudgeon finds love and redemption as he seizes a precious chance to change his life. The longest-running tour of A Christmas Carol in the U.S., resplendent with sumptuous costumes and magnificent sets, this classic has long been a favorite family tradition.
Eloise-born and Winter-Haven raised comedian/ guitarist/singer-songwriter Jim Stafford offers music and satirical humor. From Spiders & Snakes and Cow Patti to his classical guitar album Somewhere in Time, from performing and writing for the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour to The Jim Stafford Show, movie soundtracks, hosting Nashville on the Road, co-hosting Those Amazing Animals and hosting and co-writing Branson USA, Jim has done it all. Wildwood Weed is among Jim’s six hits that have made the Billboard Top 40. Join him for classical guitar and heartwarming stories peppered with hilarious comedy.

Seventy Top Ten hits in four years, a GRAMMY® Lifetime Achievement Award, attendance records at venue after venue: it’s difficult to exaggerate Glenn Miller’s impact. In one brief decade, he became the dominant Big Band leader and master of swing. A generation of teenagers fell in love with his unmistakable sound, dancing to In the Mood, String of Pearls, Chattanooga Choo-Choo, Kalamazoo, Moonlight Serenade and more. Gary Tole and the Glenn Miller Orchestra keep the magic alive entertaining the teenagers of yesterday and today!
Actor and singer Danny Aiello and his band bring us classic hits and standards. The New York Times says “He has the bounce of … Bobby Darin, Sinatra and Louie Prima and the throaty lyricism of … Tony Bennett.” Aiello has performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra, at the renowned Apollo Theater, The Rainbow Room, and across the country. He is an Academy Award® and Golden Globe® nominee and has appeared in scores of films including Moonstruck, Do the Right Thing and 29th Street. He is credited with an Obie and an Emmy® and has released four CD’s. The Bronx Wanderers join Danny with Doo Wop favorites.
The “King of Rock and Roll” returns! Once again, “Elvis” will be in the house. This show brings us the best of both worlds: Scot Bruce as the young Elvis with swiveling hips and bedroom eyes, and Mike Albert as the glitzy Las Vegas Elvis. The Big “E” Band re-creates the authentic Elvis sound for this rock ’ n’ roll afternoon. From Love Me Tender and Are You Lonesome Tonight? to All Shook Up, Jailhouse Rock and It’s Now or Never, Elvis left an indelible mark on popular music.
Sha Na Na is doing its part to make sure that Rock ’n’ Roll Is Here to Stay. Now capturing new generations of fans, the group that had its roots in the Columbia University glee club ensemble The Kingsmen rocketed to stardom after performing at Woodstock just before Jimi Hendrix, then in the movie Grease (Screamin’ Scott Simon penned Sandy for John Travolta) and on their own TV series for four years. Fans will be treated to At the Hop, The Wanderer, Love Potion #9, Hand Jive, La Bamba, In the Still of the Night, Get a Job, Come Go With Me and many more.

Dare to dream the impossible, and Sharon Owens and Sebastian Anzaldo will make that dream seem like reality: Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra, the Chairman and the Diva, on stage together at last! Sharon looks uncannily like Barbra and has the voice to match. Sebastian masterfully re-creates a confident young Frank in his prime, cocky, swingin’ and with the Sinatra swagger. Bringing their show from Las Vegas to Ruth Eckerd Hall, “Barbra” and “Frank” offer many of their greatest hits “their way.” Video clips and good natured banter add to the fun.
Vicki Lawrence’s classmates were spot on when they voted her “Most Likely to Succeed.” From her eleven hilarious years with The Carol Burnett Show (which won her an Emmy®) to her gold record for The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia, her TV series Mama’s Family, her hosting of Win, Lose or Draw, Vicki! and Fox After Breakfast, and her numerous stage productions, Vicki approaches everything with a sense of humor, because “Life is much too serious to be taken seriously!” She and Mama share some of that marvelous humor with us.
Debby Boone throws the party she’s waited a lifetime to host, offering her own personal take on the exhilarating Las Vegas style swing songs that inspired her to become a singer. Richard Kaufman, Principal Pops Conductor of the Pacific Symphony, raves, “In the tradition of great singers who can bring a song to life just the way the composer intended, Debby Boone does just that…and more.” Having progressed far beyond her megahit You Light Up My Life, she has demonstrated that she is a superbly talented vocalist with impeccable taste and style.
No one does Irish quite like the Rovers! For four and a half decades, these jolly ambassadors of Irish music, wit and good times have brought joy and delight to millions of fans around the world. Wasn’t That A Party, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, The Irish Rover, Drunken Sailor, A-Rovin’, and their signature song The Unicorn remain timeless favorites. If you love a good laugh and if Celtic strains from guitars, banjo, accordion and the bodhrán make you want to clap your hands, stomp your feet, or get up and dance, this show is for you!

Inspired by the likes of Bing Crosby and Nat “King” Cole, Tony Bennett’s easy, natural style has captured the hearts of millions around the globe. Generation gaps are nonexistent when it comes to his music. Tony has charted hits in the past six decades, including I Wanna Be Around, The Good Life, Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs Me) and his signature song I Left My Heart in San Francisco. The New York Times attributes Tony’s longevity above all to “his ability to convey a sense of joy, of utter satisfaction, in what he is doing.”
For more than fifty years, Neil Sedaka has written, performed, produced and inspired countless songs. From Stupid Cupid and Where the Boys Are (sung by Connie Francis) to his own hits Calendar Girl, Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen, Breaking Up Is Hard To Do, Laughter in the Rain and so many more, Neil’s songs are capable of taking us back to special moments in our past. Enjoy this consummate musician, extraordinary vocalist and ageless songwriting talent.
