Originally Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions Two Week Camp Ages: 13–18, $395.00 Class is limited to 45 participants July 14–25, 9:00 am–4:00 pm Saturdays, July 12 and 19, 9:30 am–12:30 pm
In this “tale as old as time”, our cast will be stepping into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern classic, Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and transporting the audience to the heart of provincial life in a lovely French town. When Maurice becomes lost in the woods on the way to the fair, he seeks shelter in an old castle, but the master of the castle is a horrible beast that takes him captive. Maurice’s daughter, Belle, must then give up her freedom to save Maurice’s life. It takes the help of an ensemble of dynamic characters for Belle to tame the unfortunate Beast, ultimately transforming him back into a handsome prince. Based on the Academy-Award winning animated feature, this fully costumed “concert” stage version will include all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman along with additional songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice. The two week intense rehearsal period will focus on vocal production and character development, creating an expressive ensemble that will captivate audiences, young and old alike. Director: Jarrett Koski; Music Director: TBA Auditions will be held for casting purposes only on Wednesday, July 9 and Thursday, July 10, 4:30–7:00 pm. Please call 727.712.2706 to schedule an audition and receive an audition packet.

Summer SmARTS THEMED DRAMATICS Join the Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts for a summer of fun! The Arts are our stepping stones to becoming stupendously smart as we join SpongeBob, Sherman, Peabody, Dora, Diego, the Minions and many more friends on the pathway to genius. Each week, our themed dramatic classes will explore a different area of knowledge. And, while we are creating exciting, thrilling, scary, suspenseful, hilarious performances, we will be filling our heads with all kinds of useful information about geography, history, finance, and maybe even (gasp!) math! No tests, no homework, no grades. Just great fun with a little learning thrown in.
UNDERCOVER MONSTERS, INC., ages 8-10 After years as the CEO of Monsters, Incorporated, Sully decides that he needs to be “back in the game” instead of behind a desk and sets out to become an undercover boss, leaving Mike in charge. Big mistake. Graphs, charts, spreadsheets mean nothing to Mike and his receptionist girlfriend Celia. Can Roz make heads or tails of their monstrous mess before Monsters Inc. goes belly up?
For young artists, ages 5–7 and 8-10
Teachers will use themed dramatic construction as a way to introduce concepts of financial literacy, including principals of compound interest, balance sheets that track income and expenses, credit, debt, saving and investing. Classroom instruction will include games and activities that reinforce concepts.
ONE-WEEK, ALL-DAY CLASSES
GEOGRAPHY WEEK, June 16-20
Classes 9:00 am–3:00 pm (dates listed below), $180.00–225.00 per week. Tuition includes a related book, a great way to build your child’s library. Family and Friends Presentation on the final day of class.
FINANCE WEEK, June 9–13 Sponsored by GTE Foundation DESPICABLE MONEY, ages 5–7 Being a genius inventor like Gru, is all well and good but maybe it’s not the best way for everyone to make a living. Margo, Agnes, Edith and the Minions set out to start their own business but when it comes to counting the profits, something doesn’t add up. They will need to learn a few things about money, like where it comes from, where it goes and how to make the most of it.
FROZEN, ages 5–7 It’s hard to imagine a land of eternal winter, especially when it’s the middle of June in Florida. Olaf would definitely have a problem living here! But much of our planet Earth is pretty darn cold for most of the year. This week will be about the world of Elsa and Anna, Kristoff and Sven, the world of very high peaks and frozen polar regions. And our story will be about the characters of Frozen and how geography can make a difference to a snow man. What better way is there to chill out in summer? MUPPET MAPQUEST, ages 8-10 When the Muppets gang goes on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in Berlin, Madrid and London, they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine, the World’s Number One Criminal…and a dead ringer for Kermit... and his dastardly sidekick, Dominic. But with the help of some geographical clues, our Interpol spy agents just might be able to track down this diabolical duo and save Kermit. Teachers will incorporate fun and interesting geographical facts into the themed dramatic construction of original scripts to explore unique places and people around the world. Classroom instruction will include map making, creating disguises and passports, and games and activities that reinforce concepts.
HISTORY WEEK, June 23–27 TIME TUNNEL TREEHOUSE, ages 5–7 Knights, princesses, and castles with secret passageways. Egyptian pyramids and mummies. With each visit to the Magic Treehouse, Jack and his sister Annie find another mysterious book. Pointing to a picture in the book whisks them from Frog Creek, Pennsylvania to another time. Fortunately, there is a way back but not until our adventurers can solve the puzzle of where they are and what they need to do.

Summer SmARTS THEMED DRAMATICS PEABODY AND SHERMAN, ages 8-10
Mr. Peabody, the world’s smartest person, happens to be a dog. When his adopted “pet” boy Sherman, uses their time traveling WABAC machine without permission and breaks the rules of time travel, events in history spiral out of control to disastrous and comical results and our two heroes find themselves in a race to repair history and save the future. Teachers will discuss the theories of time and time travel. Students will also engage in discussions of pivotal moments in history such as the first use of electricity, the discovery of penicillin and the invention of the computer and the ways in which history has shaped the way we live today.
X-FACTOR WEEK, June 30–July 3 Section 1, ages 5–7 Section 2, ages 8–10
Singing. Dancing. Acting. Art. Each day students get to explore and expand their artistic talents in a rotation of activities with their own age group, developing dance routines, learning songs, rehearsing scripts and expressing themselves through creative art forms, each highlighting an artist who has made a significant contribution to that field. On Thursday, July 3, each group will perform their dances, songs, scenes and display their art in a showcase of talent.
MARINE ECOLOGY WEEK, July 7–11 SPONGEBOB’S GLOBS, ages 5–7 All is not right in SpongeBob’s undersea town of Bikini Bottom and this time it’s not Plankton who is the culprit. When everyone dining at the Krusty Krab takes ill, including Mr.Krab’s daughter Pearl, the Krabby Patties get the blame. Then customers at the Chum Bucket come down with the savvent. Patrick and SpongeBob face starvation unless they can figure out where these strange blobs have come from. DOLPHIN TALES, ages 8–10 Based on the true story of a boy who comes to the aid of a dolphin found in distress and nursed back to health at the Clearwater Aquarium, Dolphin Tale and its sequel, Dolphin Tale 2 illustrate that people are capable of protecting nature and the precious aquatic life that surround us here in the state of Florida. This week we create our own story of Dolphins and environmental awareness. Teachers will guide students in discussions on the impact of humans on marine life, how to cohabitate with nature and how to be good stewards of the environment and natural resources. Activities will include games and activities that reinforce concepts and a trip to the Clearwater Aquarium.
HERO WEEK, July 14–18 LEGO LAND, ages 5–7 Emmet is an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average, LEGO mini-figure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He joins a group of strangers on a quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly underprepared. Fortunately, Emmet is surrounded by wacky but supportive allies who help him to realize his amazing potential. Just the kind of friends you’d want around when you’re saving the world. TRAINING YOUR DRAGON, ages 8-10 When a heroic and inventive young Viking, Hiccup, becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon whom he dubs Toothless, the boy learns that his people have misjudged the species. Now both boy and dragon must keep the peace by continuing to fight the destructive ignorance that plagues their world. This week, class discussions will center on what it means to be a good friend and a hero in your community. Activities will include designing super human powers, identifying real life heroes throughout history, and games and character building activities that reinforce concepts of compassion, responsibility and action.
