Irvine Family Heir to Wed Former Ms. America In Historic Wedding! James M. Irvine and Susan R. Jeske have announced their engagement and will be married in the Spring of 2018 at the Irvine Ranch Historic Park. James Myford Irvine is the youngest grandson to the late James Irvine II who inherited about 115,000 acres in what is now Orange County, California and formed The Irvine Company and the James Irvine Foundation. He is the son of the late Myford and Gloria Irvine. Myford Irvine was the President of The Irvine Company for eleven years and the President of the James Irvine Foundation for 24 years beginning when it was established in 1937 until his death in 1959. In 2017 the James Irvine Foundation awarded over 90 million dollars to worthy charities in California. www.Irvine.org. Irvine spent 14 years (1978-1992) involved in Broadcast Network Television and was the Founder and President of Orange Coast Videos which was a successful network television movie facilities company for high end, high demand, live network television productions. His clients included, ABC, NBC, CBS Sports, Summer Olympics 1984, Boxing, Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Emmy Awards and the Rose Parade to name a few. He also was an active partner in a 41-acre winery in Napa Valley, California that produced over 30,000 cases of award winning wines. Because of his fascination with trains, he was an active partner in the Arizona and California Railroad. Currently, he is a business man and real estate investor. Jim has two children from a previous marriage. Susan R. Jeske is the daughter of the late Charles and Denise Jeske of Littleton, Colorado. She was crowned Ms. America 1997 at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas winning $75,000 in cash and prizes. In 1999, she purchased the Ms. America Pageant and became its CEO. Since then she has grown the pageant into an institution that attracts high-achieving women from all walks of life to vie for the title and put it to philanthropic use. In 2004, Susan was honored with the Presidential Service Lifetime Achievement Award from the President of the United States for her lifetime contributions to charity and volunteerism. www.SusanJeske.com. The couple plans to marry at the Irvine Ranch Historic Park (Jamboree Road and Irvine Boulevard) which is where the original Irvine family home was and is now the Katie Wheeler Library (named after James’s Aunt). Irvine was raised in the home as a young boy. He will be the last Irvine that lived in the mansion, who will be married there. The park is part of the OC Parks family of historic parks and is the original headquarters of the Irvine Ranch started by James Irvine II. The 16-acre property was donated by The Irvine Company to the County of Orange and made into a historic park for all to enjoy. In 2015, six of the historic structures were restored and a dedication ceremony was held with the Irvine family members present. www.OCParks. com. James and Susan met in 1992 through a mutual friend and dated for six years. Then, call it life getting in the way or just wrong timing, they went their separate ways. In 2011 they met again and renewed their relationship as they were both single and still felt that spark between them. Then after dating for four years, James popped the question when he took Susan to the Balboa Bay Club to watch the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. The evening was romantic as can be, with champagne, roses, candles, chocolate dipped strawberries and a beautiful sunset. As the parade got underway, fireworks lite up the sky, James got down on one knee to ask Susan to marry him. She broke out in tears of happiness and said yes! They are making their home in the beautiful “BellaTiara” in Orange County; socializing with their neighbors with several hosted parties. Decorating for the holidays is Susan’s specialty as she loves to make people happy when they see the lights and creations that adorn their home. After the wedding, they plan to take a combination vacation/honeymoon, destination unknown as they love to explore new places. Page 2

Traditional wedding rules have fallen by the wayside - food trucks are in, having a hashtag is a must, bridesmaids no longer wear the same dress and groomsmen are sometimes in sneakers. Couples are actively seeking ways to differentiate themselves and get creative. All that aside, there is one thing that remains constant - weddings must have wine. Without wine, there is no glass to raise during the toast to the bride and groom and nothing to drink when the bar closes during dinner. Wine is the first thing guests are offered when they take a seat, and - you know that they say - it’s important to make a good first impression. Choosing the right varietals for your wedding does not have to be a stressful endeavor. Whether you’re a
novice wine drinker or a connoisseur, follow these four tips and you’ll please a crowd without spending a fortune: Say “cheers!” with a sparkling wine. People love a good toast, and nothing washes down a teary maid of honor speech like a glass of sparkling. Riondo Prosecco is an accessible option that’s ideal to enjoy any day of the year, but perfectly suited for special occasions. You’ll get six pours out of a bottle, so plan accordingly! Good things come in threes. In addition to a sparkling, you’ll want a red and a white option that are familiar and food-friendly. You can’t go wrong with a Merlot - look for labels from the Napa region. For a white, Terlato Friuli Pinot Grigio is exceptional and ideal for food pairing.
Wine math: What you didn’t learn in school. Running out of wine mid-wedding isn’t an option, so it’s important to do the math. You should anticipate getting about 5 glasses per bottle and assume that each guest will drink one glass per hour. Follow this rule and the wine will flow all night long, keeping you and your guests happy. Don’t break the bank, but stay away from the cheap stuff. Choosing an excellent wine doesn’t mean paying top-dollar, but buying too cheap can mean sacrificing quality. There are countless high-quality, delicious, wines available for $10-$20 per bottle, so leave the cheap stuff on the bottom shelf! -(BPT)

Wedding Invitations: What’s the Difference Between Flat Printing, Thermography and Engraving? By Bellamy Vaught-Davis Wedding invitation costs for one hundred guests can vary widely-from just around one hundred dollars to several thousand. So, what’s the difference? Aren’t they all just paper and ink? Well, yes...and no. While the type of paper (or cotton, in some cases) can range in thickness, size and quality, there are only four options when it comes to how your invitations will be printed: letterpress, engraving, thermography and flat printing. Just as the quality of paper will affect your final invitation total, the way the invitations are actually printed can mean the difference between a three digit invite bill and a four digit one. Here are the differences in the main types of wedding invitation printing: Letterpress. This process is the oldest, most elegant and most expensive of the three--and for good reason. The wording for each set of invitations is arranged on a press, using the printer’s available fonts. This plate is then inked with the color(s) of ink you want, and the forced under high pressure against the blank invitation paper. The result
is a beautiful invitation--you should be able to feel the indented wording after the process has been completed. You’ll need to order a very heavy paper to create this effect (read: more expensive); thinner papers may tear during the printing process. Engraving. The end result of this process creates an invitation with raised lettering, rather than indented letter in letterpress. The creation process is similar, but even more individualized, as the invitation wording is carved on a metal plate rather than being composed with moveable type as in letterpress. You get to keep the plate at the end of the process, which makes for a neat, if unnecessary, wedding keepsake. The plate is heated behind the paper, forcing the lettering up. At the same time, ink is forced on top of the raised lettering, creating an elegant and distinctive look. This process also requires a heavy paper to withstand the heating and inking process. One benefit? There are far more options on fonts and spacing than with letterpress. T h e r m o g r a p h y. A r e y o u a champagne bride on a beer budget? Then, thermography may be the
ticket for you. This process is highly computerized, which equates to a lower end cost. The wording of your invitation is placed into the computerized printing system, and the press creates your wording on the paper with a type of very hot adhesive. The ink pigmentation is then forced down onto the adhesive and then quickly dried. The end result is a raised invitation that would fool all but the most seasoned of wedding invitation lovers. You can tell a thermography invite by the shininess of the ink and the lack of indentation

on the back of the invite. Flat-printing. The most economical of the four, flat-printing creates an invitation that is completely smooth on the back and front. The process by which these invites are created are similar to that which occurs on your home computer: ink is laid down in lines or pixels by a printer and then dried. This process allows for the most customization of fonts, colors and spacing since the design is done exclusively on the computer. Happy invitation shopping!

LOCALS CHEER NEW ROOF ON COTO DE CAZA UPPER BARN
Coto de Caza Equestrian Preserve Seems to be Making Much Needed Repairs Coto de Caza residents are always happy to see improvements at the Equestrian Center, now known as the Coto de Caza Equestrian Preserve and while the developer Silver Bronze Corporation and Oak Grove have had many challenges, residents were delighted to see a new roof being started on Coto de Caza’s famous Upper Barn which housed horses for the 1984 Olympics. Although the developer removed much of the grass around the Equestrian Preserve, early Spring rains have brightened up the slopes with new grass seedlings and peripheral vegetation. Thirsty Oak trees surrounding the Equestrian Preserve also benefitted from the rains and some soft Santa Ana winds whisked away the falling leaves to someplace down the canyon leaving the Equestrian Preserve looking better than it has in many months. Although the Cinnabar Ranch which operates the Equestrian Preserve nor Oak Grove Developer Robert O.Hill, did not return calls or emails about this story from the newspaper, our
resident photographers were out and about to scout out some improvements including the beginning repairs on the upper barn roof and several new pipe corrals along the western breezeway near the upper barn and the still vacant MerryHill School. At press time it was not determined whether the new pipe corrals were constructed to accommodate boarders from the recently vacated Maxwell Stables. “Maxwell stables boarders were mostly western and Roofers at work installing roof on Coto de Caza’s famous Upper Barn trail horses, “observed one local which housed horses for the 1984 Olympics. trainer. “And most of the other horses at the Equestrian Preserve are English and Dressage horses”. Yet another horseman said “But, when your horse needs a place to stay, it doesn’t matter what kind of saddle he rides, they’d be glad to have a place to stay in Coto de Caza, ”he argued. Several new horses were moved into the pipe corrals this week, but it was not known if the came from Maxwell’s or just transferred from another part of the Coto de Caza Equestrian Preserve. EASTER SUNRISE SURPRISE AS MAXWELL STABLES DEMOLIISHED
Bulldozers Rumble Through the Now Vacant Stable Complex Surprising Early Risers
Coto de Caza residents on their way to Easter Sunrise Services were surprised to see demolition crews already at work taking down the venerable Maxwell Stables adjacent to the General Store property and The Coto de Caza Equestrian Preserve. Maxwell’s Stables has operated in Coto de Caza for over twenty years and was a favorite boarding facility for trail riders and many locals. Larry and Carol Guesno, formerly owned the Coto de Caza General Store purchased the Maxwell Stables in late 2017 said” We would have loved to keep the Maxwell’s here, but the amount of rent needed to make that work was just not available.” John and Jill Maxwell, owners of the Maxwell Stables said that they had already given their equestrian tenants notice over a month ago and had been scouting other locations in South Orange County for possible places to relocate the stables. Larry and Carol Guesno told the Coto de Caza News that they believe that new possibilities will open up for the former stables, once the property has been cleared. The Maxwell property is not located within The Coto de Caza Equestrian Preserve, but since is right next to it visitors often assume Page 10
that the contiguous properties are all one parcel. The optics are even more confusing since both the General Store property and Maxwell Stables have now been cleared and demolished. Prominent Real Estate Broker John Evans, who represents the owner of the General Store property told the Coto de Caza News that he had several potential buyers interested in both properties. If a purchase of one or both of these properties takes place soon, the development should greatly improve the visual appearance of this corner of the equestrian area in Coto de Caza .

Two Local Horse Enthusiasts Mark and Beth Hebner Acquire Former Orange County Polo Club from the Coto de Caza Equestrian Preserve Hebner Family Plans to Focus on Coto’s Equestrian Lifestyle with New Project
New barn concept drawing. By Murray Coleman Two local horse enthusiasts are embarking on a major equestrian project adjacent to the Coto de Caza Equestrian Preserve. Mark and Beth Hebner recently told the Coto de Caza News that they are now proud owners of the 2.2-acre lot that served as the former home for the Orange County Polo Club. “The opportunity to continue the equestrian history of Coto de Caza is a big challenge that we’re very excited about undertaking,” said Mark Hebner, founder and president of Irvine-based registered investment advisory firm Index Fund Advisors. The couple has named the new facilities the Four Pines Ranch and have plans to build a 100- by 170foot covered arena with stalls for six horses. Also included in the project are: a covered round pen, hay barn, lounge and tack rooms. Garage space for horse trailers, trucks, tractors as well as related ranch equipment and tools are also part of the plan. Plans to build on the former polo field are designed to enhance the rich equestrian history of Coto de Caza. The private facility won’t alter access to the existing Four Pines Trail, pointed out Beth Hebner. That’s a popular pedestrian and equestrian trail that runs along the Via Pajaro Road side of the property. “We will continue to provide access and maintain the trail for everyone,” she said. “It’s part of Coto’s rich history of providing a great environment for horse riders and hikers.” Construction hasn’t started yet. But the couple said they’re hoping that work will begin within a year due to all of the planning and approvals required. Their goal is to complete the project in about two years. Planning for an equestrian facility began nearly three years ago, according to Mark Hebner. “We originally planned to put a barn in our backyard,” he recalled. But when the couple heard that the Orange County Polo Club was moving to Silverado
Canyon, they related that a call was made to the Silver Bronze Corp. to inquire about purchasing the land. “Since we live next door to the polo field, we were concerned about what might wind up being built on the property,” Mark Hebner said. “We saw the opportunity to move our barn to the polo field, add an arena -- and most importantly -- ensure that the lot would continue to be for equestrian activities.” He actually credits his wife with coming up with the original idea of living an equestrian lifestyle. “I’d been riding horses since age 13, so this project is a lifelong dream of mine,” said Beth Hebner. After giving up her horse riding activities for years to raise a family and build a nursing career, she got back into the saddle about 10 years ago with some friends in Coto. “That led to buying a horse for me from Monty Roberts,” Beth Hebner said, “and then Mark also got interested in riding.” Now, they own two horses -- Heza Sugar Bear, an eight-year-old gelding ridden by Mark and Concord Inferno, a 10-year-old gelding overseen by Beth. Both horses were raised as colts and trained through the Willing Partners™ program run by Roberts, an award-winning trainer and bestselling author. The nonprofit he runs with his wife, Pat, and daughter, Debbie, is worldrenowned for its development of techniques being used to help groups such as military veterans and first responders dealing with traumatic stress injuries. The organization, Join-Up International, counts among its patrons Queen Elizabeth II and other noted equestrians around the world. The Hebners, who serve on the organization’s board of directors, say they’d like to eventually hold various community events at their Four Pines Ranch. “We also hope to host Join-Up International clinics aimed at furthering Monty’s community outreach efforts to veterans, first responders and

How to Achieve that Wedding “WOW” Factor
By J.C. Meeker Entertainment that will knock the socks off your guests is one of the best ways to leave a lasting impression. A great band or DJ that keeps the guests dancing and enjoying themselves during the reception is key. Although the music is important it’s not the only entertainment that will keep your guests talking about how great your wedding was. Special events such as a funky dance performed by the bridal party, special acts brought in specifically to entertain your guests or a fireworks show can really bring the house down. Outstanding food and drinks is definitely a major way to give your wedding that WOW factor. The fact is people go to weddings not only to share in the beautiful union of two people in love but also to have a great time, good food and drinks. You do not have to have a 7-course meal in order to impress your guests. You can go small with just cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as long as you do it well. Fancy spreads like dessert bars and candy buffets are also a lot of fun. Signature drinks are very popular and you can never go wrong with an open bar. Midnight buffets are becoming increasingly popular and they don’t have to be an extravagant spread of food. Foods you would find on a midnight buffet are your typical bar type foods like chicken fingers,
wings, potato skins and other finger type foods. Since your guests usually have been drinking for a while and dinner has been over for hours they tend to get a little hungry so snacks are usually a huge hit. It will also help sober up some of your guests before the party ends. Having a breathtaking décor for your reception that will immediately transport your guests into another world the second they step foot into your venue is something that not only will set the mood for the entire evening but will leave your guests talking about how fabulous your reception was for a long time. Regardless of whether you are having an elegant Tiffany theme, a whimsical Mad Hatter Tea Party or a modern sports themed reception incorporate the theme down to the smallest detail. Filling every aspect of your reception with themed items will contribute to that WOW factor when the guests enter the room. Doing something unexpected will hands down give your wedding that WOW factor! You could have your bridal party walk into the reception singing an upbeat fun song that will set the mood for the entire evening and get your guests pumped up for a great time! Another unique idea is to have the bridal party create a film that shows how the couple met and show it at the reception.

By Represenative Mimi Walters Every year, the Congressional Institute hosts an artistic discovery contest in Congressional districts throughout the United States. I am proud to participate in this exciting program once again by announcing my fourth annual Congressional Art Competition for high school students in California’s 45th District. This competition is a wonderful opportunity for students to express their creative talent, and for parents, teachers, and other community members to celebrate the achievements of Orange County youth. I encourage any interested high school student, regardless of your level of experience, to participate. There is no cost to submit artwork, and there are cash prizes for the top three finalists in the 45th District. In addition, the artwork awarded first prize will hang in the U.S. Capitol for an entire year, and the winning artist will receive the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. with other winning students from across the Nation. The competition is not only limited to traditional forms of artwork – paintings, drawings, collages, prints, photographs, and mixed media are all

As a Member of Congress and a mother of four, I appreciate the opportunity to support educational programs that allow our children to explore their passions and reach
their full potential. I continue to be amazed by the level of artistic talent in our community, and I look forward to seeing this year’s impressive works. All submissions are due to my Irvine District Office by Tuesday, April 24, 2018, by 5:00pm. How to Pick Out the Perfect Wedding Dress for Your Big Day By Abby Willow The wedding dress decision is perhaps the most nerve-wracking part of the wedding planning for any bride. Trying to find the perfect dress can feel like an uphill battle, but not when you go in with an open mind and a realistic budget to get the dress of your dreams. Here’s how to get the best wedding dress for your big day. The more people you take with you, the more opinions are going to be thrown your way when you’re trying on dresses. To get the dress YOU want, go into the bridal salon alone or with one very good friend who you know has your best interests in mind. Too often, a bride will find the perfect gown only to be swayed into disliking it because her mother, sister, fiance, or friend hated it. It’s your day. Get the dress you want and the more people you leave at home when shopping, the more likely you are to trust your own opinion and instincts. Don’t even bother trying on dresses that are out of your budget. Stick to dresses in your price range. If you don’t, your perfect dress can be one you can’t afford to buy, so every dress you try on thereafter won’t give you that wow factor. Only try on a dress if you know you can afford to buy it, no matter how much you are tempted to upgrade. Be open about styles. What looks terrible on a hanger may suit your body perfectly, and a style you are in love with Page 16
might not suit your frame. If you think it even has a chance, try it on. You may be surprised. If you find “the dress”, stop. Right there. Try not one more dress on. You know when you are wearing the dress that makes you feel like a bride the second you see yourself in the mirror. Don’t sway that positive feeling by trying on other dresses “just to be sure”. You are sure. Get the one, and kiss all the other possibilities goodbye. Bring your wedding shoes and jewelry with you if you’ve already purchased them so you can see what they will look like with the dress you choose, and your accessories can help make your selection that much easier. Shoes also help with the alterations of the dress so you can be sure your dress won’t be too short or too long with whatever shoes you have. If you absolutely do not know what you want as far as style, start small. Do you like lace? A full skirt? Are you adverse to strapless? Is your wedding Spring, Fall, Winter, or Summer? Indoors or outdoors? All these little details can help narrow down your choices and make gown selection easier. If you have just ONE gown in mind, start with that style. This way, you know straight off the bat if the mermaid design will work for you, and you can either go with it or venture elsewhere. Try off-white. If none of the classic white
The Coto de Caza News
gowns are working for you, it might be the color. Champagne and off-white gowns can make all the difference in style for many brides. You don’t have to go white on your wedding day just because it’s traditional. If you see a gown that you love but you think it won’t look good on you, if it’s in your budget, try it on. You don’t know what it will look like until you see it on your frame. Remember, even the right dress isn’t altered to you perfectly just yet. If a gown is just right but you’re afraid it won’t fit, keep in mind alterations will make it fit you like you were born in it. Don’t try on so many dresses that you
can’t remember a single one, or you become overwhelmed. If you are frustrated after trying on just one dress, stop. Being frustrated and shopping for “the dress” don’t go together. Try on as many as you are positive about, and if you get “the dress” on the first day, good for you. If not, there is always tomorrow. Lastly, remember it’s your day, so get the dress you want. It’s not your future husband’s dress, your best friend’s dress, your mom’s dress, or your sister’s dress. Don’t buy a dress because everyone else likes it. Get it because you love it. It’s your dress. Get the one that feels like it was made just for you.

Shedding for the wedding: Your 3-month guide
The dress, the tux, the guests, the honeymoon - there are so many details that go into your wedding day. All eyes are on you from the moment you walk down the aisle until the last dance of the night. Understandably so, brides and grooms often feel a lot of pressure to look their best on this important day - there’s nothing like a wedding to motivate you to get serious about your health and fitness goals. But crash diets or extreme exercise programs are never the answer. “It’s usually best to start thinking about your specific goals three months before your wedding day to allow plenty of time to establish your routine and adjust to a healthier lifestyle,” says Steve Bronston, certified personal trainer with Life Time, a healthy way of life company that operates more than 115 health and wellness centers nationwide. “This creates a great opportunity for the bride and groom to support each other and get in shape together.” Bronston and Life Time offer a threemonth countdown plan to get you ready for the big day: Weeks 1-4 Focus on changing your unhealthy habits. Nutrition is key when trying to lose weight, decrease body fat and increase your overall health. Work with a professional to lay out a
detailed nutrition plan that consists of carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats at each meal. Then, begin with a fitness program that incorporates weight training and cardio intervals. Arm exercises like overhead press, tricep push-ups and bicep curls, and back exercises like rows and rear flys help brides looking to tone up for a strapless or low-back dress. Bronston suggests starting with two or three days of weight training, two or three days of cardio and one day of Pilates or yoga. Weeks 5-8 Now it’s time to switch up your
exercise routines. It’s a good idea to work with a personal trainer or join a group fitness class once or twice a week to shake up your routine and stay motivated. Your workouts should include one to two weight training exercises per body part throughout the week. If you can, try to shift the amount of weight you use and number of repetitions you do to help stimulate change within your body. Continue a cardio routine of two to three days per week and add in another day or Pilates or yoga. Weeks 9-12 It is important to keep up with your
developing healthy habits as the weeks progress, but as your wedding day approaches, you’re sure to feel the stress of planning. “A new focus on rest and relaxation during this time period is key,” Bronston says. You can eat well and exercise perfectly, but without sleep, stretching, rest and recovery, your body is at risk of not functioning properly. Planning a wedding can be stressful and tiresome, but if you commit to a healthy diet and fitness plan, you’ll walk down the aisle feeling confident and ready for your new life ahead. -(BPT)

Free Your Inner Farmer at the 2018 OC Fair
The 2018 OC Fair theme invites Fairgoers to embrace simple joys, get back to basics and “Free Your Inner Farmer.” The theme was announced today for the Fair which will run July 13-Aug. 12, 2018. This is the second year of a threeyear initiative to focus OC Fair themes on agriculture. The 2017 theme was “Farm Fresh Fun,” a nod to agriculture products. “Free Your Inner Farmer” salutes all the people involved in raising and enjoying the fruits of agriculture. The 2019 Fair theme will focus on land and the environment. “We are going to have a great time with our ‘Free Your Inner Farmer’ theme,” said OC Fair & Event Center CEO Kathy Kramer. “It really speaks to what we all love about the annual OC Fair - animals, uncomplicated summer fun, making memories and reconnecting with our agricultural roots.” The official theme was presented today to the OC Fair & Event Center Board of Directors. Michele Richards, VP of Business Development, shared artwork and the creative brief on the theme at the board meeting. Year two is all about people – the farmers who raise our food, the workers who harvest it, the folks who cook and bake and the people like us who enjoy eating. Whether you’re a backyard Page 24
gardener, a culinary experimenter or a farmers-market fan, there’s a farmer in all of us. And the OC Fair gives us the opportunity and permission to let our farmer flag fly. Whether you have a curiosity about where food really comes from and people who bring it to our tables, or a desire to disconnect from the artificial and reconnect with the natural, or maybe an appreciation for timeless joy in the great outdoors, the OC Fair frees that inner spirit and connects us as a community. It’s about back-to-basics family fun and making lasting memories. The OC Fair is a place where joy has no age limit. It’s where we can roam free under the sun, moon and stars – no matter who we are. So whether you want to shake hands with a working farmer, watch kids clamber on farm equipment, feel the earth between your fingers as you learn to plant your own garden or enjoy the simple pleasure of learning to cook a farm-fresh meal, the 2018 OC Fair invites you to “Free Your Inner Farmer.” Hooray for the farmer in all of us! OC Fair admission and parking prices will not increase in 2018. General admission will remain $12 for Wednesday-Friday and $14 on weekends, senior and youth tickets are $7 every day. Parking is

Turn your fantasy fairytale wedding into reality
Every girl dreams of her fantasy wedding. It usually includes a Prince Charming standing next to her at the altar, saying “I do,” while surrounding by friends and family in a fairytale atmosphere. Now it’s time to turn that fantasy dream into reality. And while Prince Charming has been replaced with Mr. Right, the rest of the fairytale
doesn’t have to change. Every bride should feel like a princess, and here are some ways to pull off the special wedding: * The dress: The right wedding dress and accessories can make any bride look like a princess. A strand of pearls around the neck for a Cinderella look or a long, decorative braid down one side of the head completes the Rapunzel look. Many brides love the look of a simple tiara woven into an elegant hairstyle. And the dress can have a full or puffy skirt, or long flowing tresses to really bring out the princess style. Disney also has a collection of designer princess cut dresses based on several of the Disney princesses. * The invitations: Set the tone for your fairytale wedding right from the start with Disney Princess Wedding Invitations from Invitations by Dawn. The collection features eight elegant princess invitations inspired by Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Tiana and Snow White. You’ll love the deep embossing, the shimmer paper and the raised print that looks like an invitation from royalty. The flowers and motifs will capture the eyes
of your guests and evoke a sense of fairytale nostalgia, having them anticipating the wedding itself. * The decorations: Shimmery gossamer, twinkle lights and decorative candles provide beautiful touches to help make the fairytale a reality when it comes to your wedding and reception. If you are a crafty person, use DIY crafting sites like Pinterest to find centerpiece and table decoration ideas you can make yourself. Also ask your florist and cake decorator if they have any suggestions on decorating your reception and the wedding hall in a fairytale theme. They may suggest
a fountain centerpiece, or creating a forest backdrop behind the cake to help enhance the theme. If you’ve been dreaming about your wedding for many years, you probably already have some ideas for those special romantic touches that will make your wedding memorable and special. Share those ideas with the wedding specialist helping you plan your special day, and let the magic happen. Your guests will be awed by how you pulled together the entire fairytale theme, from the invitations to the special gifts they’ll take home to remember your special day. -(BPT)

From the pole to the checkered flag, reigning Monster Energy NASCAR Cup champion Martin Truex Jr. wins first Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway Photos by William Casper Staff Photographer Winning the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) last year naturally leads to Martin Truex Jr. (No. 78, Bass Pro Shops/5-Hour ENERGY Toyota) being held to a higher standard going forward. The NASCAR veteran lived up to those expectations Sunday as the polesitter led 125 of 200 laps and captured the checkered flag with little suspense at the 22nd-annual Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway. Auto Club Speedway hosted its 29th NASCAR Cup Series race – second all-time among active California racetracks – and crowned its 17th winning NASCAR Cup Series driver. Truex Jr. won his first Auto Club 400 in his 18th start at the twomile oval, and his 16th career MENCS race in 446 starts. Truex Jr., 37, became the first driver to win the pole position and all three stages in a MENCS race. Sunday’s Auto Club 400 accounted for Truex Jr.’s first MENCS victory and stage wins of the 2018 season. “Getting our first California win is unbelievable,” Truex Jr. said. “I feel like we’ve been close all year long. People kept asking me, ‘When are you going to win again, and when are you going to win any stages?’ Well, here you go. We had the offseason and you never know when you’re going to lose your mojo. It’s just kind of a reassurance that what we’re doing is working.” With the victory, Truex Jr. vaulted to the top of the MENCS points lead (216 points), nine points clear, and his team, Furniture Row Racing, also leads the MENCS owner standings by a nine-point margin. Putting an exclamation on Sunday’s performance, Truex Jr. led the final 31 laps and won the Auto Club 400 by a whopping 11.685 seconds. His first pole position at Auto Club Speedway was his 17th career pole. Despite never holding the lead, 2017 Auto Club 400 champion Kyle Larson (No. 42, DC Solar Chevrolet) improved his position late in the race and netted his second runner-up finish in the race (he was also second as a rookie in 2014). Though, the result snapped Larson’s four-race win streak on two-mile tracks. Larson started the race on the inside of Row 2. “I didn’t even see Martin,” Larson said. “All in all, it was a good day. It seemed like we could always get to third or fourth and we stalled out there. Having fun but we’d like to be one spot better.” Three-time Auto Club Speedway champ Kyle Busch (No. 18, Interstate Batteries Toyota) led for 62 laps before finishing third. Prior to Sunday, Truex recorded a personal-best finish of fourth on Fontana’s two-mile oval in the 2017 Auto Club 400. He was close to
winning last year as he was running second within the race’s last 10 laps and, after he chose not to pit during a late caution flag, he lost some position shortly after the restart. Truex’s first Auto Club Speedway win could be considered the completion of unfinished business. “I knew we had a really good race car,” Truex Jr. said. “We lost the lead a couple times on pit stops so that was something we had to fight through. I don’t think there was anybody better on the short or long runs, and that’s really hard to do here.” Added Truex Jr.’s crew chief, Cole Pearn: “We just had to get the back tightened up a little bit and once we Car #78 Martin Truex Jr. for the win did, the speed was there.” Striving to become the first driver to win four consecutive MENCS races since Jimmie Johnson in 2007, Bakersfield native Kevin Harvick (No. 4, Busch Beer Ford) was the subject of the primary pre-race plot surrounding the Auto Club 400. Starting in 10th position on the grid, Harvick’s bid to keep his win streak alive came to an early close. He was sent into the wall and skidded across the track after he got slightly loose coming out of Turn 2 on Lap 38 and side-drafted with Larson, prompting the race’s first caution flag. Larson and Harvick were running third and fourth, consecutively, for most of the race until that point. Larson re-started 20th out of the Kyle Busch making a quick pitstop caution. Meanwhile, Harvick needed fender repair and got back into the race in 36th position, two laps down and out of contention for the duration of the race. Harvick finished 35th and lost his MENCS points lead. “It’s my fault for coming down the race track and trying to side draft there,” Harvick said. Added Larson: “We were racing really hard. He had the better of me in Turns 1 and 2, and I had the better of him in Turns 3 and 4. I knew that I didn’t do anything wrong. I respect Kevin a lot and I think he respects me a lot, too. Just the little bit that I was around Kevin, I still feel that he had the best car, but who knows. He didn’t get to race a whole lot.” 2015 Auto Club 400 champion Truex reeling in the #1 spot for the win Brad Keselowski (No. 2, Wurth Ford) posted his fourth straight top-10 result at Auto Club Speedway with a fourthplace finish. Joey Logano (No. 22, Auto Club of Southern California Ford), who won Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Roseanne 300 at Auto Club Speedway, placed fifth and led the race for nine laps. William Byron (No. 24, AXALTA Chevrolet) was the Auto Club 400’s highest-finishing MENCS rookie, placing 15th. The Auto Club 400 featured 16 lead changes among seven different leaders in the 37-car field, and five caution flags for a total of 21 laps. Coto de Caza News Legal Notices CITY OF RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA NOTICE INVITING BIDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
CITY HALL AND BELL TOWER REGIONAL COMMUNITY CENTER INTERIOR PAINTING AND STAINING AND SEAL EXTERIOR WOOD TRIMMING NOTICE is hereby given that sealed bids for the CIP PROJECT City Hall And Bell Tower Regional Community Center Interior Painting And Staining And Seal Exterior Wood Trimming, in the City of Rancho Santa Margarita will be received at the Office of the City Engineer of the City of Rancho Santa Margarita, 22112 El Paseo, Rancho Santa Margarita California, until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud. AWARD OF CONTRACT: The City reserves the right after opening bids to reject any or all bids, to waive any informality (non-responsiveness) in a bid, or to make award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder on the Bid Schedule, and reject all other bids, as it may best serve the interest of the City. Within ten (10) working days after the date of the Notice of Award, the successful bidder will be required to submit Bonds (Faithful Performance and Material and Labor), Construction Schedule and Water Pollution Prevention Plan.
With overscheduled days full of early-morning conference calls and endless to-do lists, it’s impossible to avoid the stress that comes with working hard. Hand-in-hand with all that pressure, a lack of quality sleep can lead to aches and pains, stiffness, sore muscles, tingling or numbness in your extremities, general fatigue, as well as an increased risk of getting sick. According to the National Sleep Foundation, the average adult needs 7-9 hours of sleep a night. In fact, a survey by Mattress Firm showed a correlation between stress and those who receive less sleep than recommended. Twice as many stressed people get fewer than five hours of sleep each night compared to those who are not stressed. What’s more, those who are stressed are five times more likely to experience insomnia at least once a month. The proper amount and quality of sleep can have a dramatic impact on your life. If you’re stressed and experiencing trouble sleeping, these tips from the sleep experts at Mattress Firm can help ensure you’re getting the rest you need to improve your sleep health. Minimize technology use before you head to bed. The survey found that quality of sleep is negatively impacted because of stress-induced technology use. For example, those who are stressed are 60 percent more likely to watch TV an hour before bed, more than twice as likely to post to social media an hour before bed, twice as likely to check email an hour before bed and more than 40 percent
more likely to sleep with their phones next to their beds. Ensure your body is getting adequate support. What felt comfortable to sleep on eight years ago may not provide the support your body needs today. Your weight, pressure points, ailments, etc. can change over the course of time, so it’s important to check the mattress tag. If it’s more than 8 years old, it is time to replace it. Another way to make sure your body has the proper support and alignment is to figure out your sleep position and select the right pillows to support your body. This can help alleviate tossing and turning, and provide a more comfortable night of sleep. Avoid nighttime snacking. About 24 percent of extremely stressed people indulge in a snack an hour before bed, according to the survey. There are many food and drink options that encourage a good night’s sleep more than others, such as tryptophan-rich foods like dairy, nuts and seeds, bananas, honey and eggs. Conversely, foods and medications with caffeine and foods with high-fat content should be avoided. The foods you choose are important, but also pay attention to the timing of when you eat and drink. Even fighting stress with an afternoon espresso can affect your ability to sleep hours later when your head hits the pillow. However, prepayment premiums, accrued interest and advances will increase this figure prior to sale. Beneficiary’s bid at said sale may include all or part of said amount. In addition to cash, the Trustee will accept a cashier’s check drawn on a state or national bank, a check drawn by a state or federal credit union or a check drawn by a state or federal savings and loan association, savings association or savings bank specified in Section 5102 of the California Financial Code and authorized to do business in California, or other such funds as may be acceptable to the Trustee. In the event tender other than cash is accepted, the Trustee may withhold the issuance of the Trustee’s Deed Upon Sale until funds become available to the payee or endorsee as a matter of right. The property offered for sale excludes all funds held on account by the property receiver, if applicable. If the Trustee is unable to convey title for any reason, the successful bidder’s sole and exclusive remedy shall be the return of monies paid to the Trustee and the successful bidder shall have no further recourse. Notice to Potential Bidders If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a Trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a Trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same Lender may hold more than one mortgage or Deed of Trust on the property. Notice to Property Owner The sale date shown on this Notice of Sale may be postponed one or more times by the Mortgagee, Beneficiary, Trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about Trustee Sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call In Source Logic at 702-659-7766 for information regarding the Trustee’s Sale or visit the Internet Web site address listed below for information regarding the sale of this property, using the file number assigned to this case, CA08001015-161. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale. Mr. Nice Guy has earned his name like a badge of honor. He is a sweet 10-year-old pit bull mix who needs a loving home to live out his twilight years. He may be a bit older, but that just means he is smarter and wiser. He is ready to be your friend, couch-mate and enjoy leisurely walks with you. He may romp like a puppy on occasion but not always, which is
something you’ll appreciate after a long day. If you are ready for a mature relationship, meet Mr. Nice Guy at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center because he has a lot of love left to give. The center is located at 28095 Hillcrest. For more information, call 949-470-3045.
