RANCHO RENAMES STREET IN HONOR OF RICHARD REESE He Designed the Whole Town and Then Decided to Stick Around

Former Mayor and Current Rancho Santa Margarita City Councilmember Carol Gamble with Richard Reese, who designed the city. The man whose vision defined Rancho Santa Margarita was honored Wednesday as the City Council voted unanimously to rename a street in his honor at their regular meeting on April 22. Richard Reese Way will be the new name of El Portal, the 2,400 foot thoroughfare that runs alongside Central Park, the City Hall/Community Center complex, the city library and the city center between La Promesa and Avenida de Las Flores. Reese was the community’s master planner, and had similar roles in Anaheim from 1956-65 while Disneyland was being built, and then Irvine from 1966-79. After his retirement from Rancho Mission Viejo Company he chose to settle down in his self-styled “urban village,” which incorporated on Jan. 1, 2000. “He’s truly the heart and soul of this community … a gem of a human being,” said Mayor Brad McGirr, who credited SAMLARC executive director Candice Fullenkamp for initiating the concept. “He’s the man responsible for the city we have here today. … We live in an urban village surrounded by wilderness. This city was planned in a very specific manner. I can’t think of anything else I’ve done since I’ve been mayor that means more to me.” Page 2

The other four council members were in agreement. There was some discussion whether to call it Via Richard Reese, as the Planning Commission had proposed, in keeping with the city’s Spanish theme for street names, or simply Reese Way. Council member Jerry Holloway said other Reese families will move in and out of the city, but if the street is to honor someone specifically, it should include his first name. Mayor Pro Tem Tony Beall said no one is more deserving to be honored in such a way, “and I think it will be a long time before it’s ever done again.” In her praise of Reese, Council member Carol Gamble reminded audience members that in 1992, ABC’s 20/20 news program referred to the city as “a modern-day ShangriLa” in a segment on planned communities. That resonated with council member Michael Vaughn. “When my lovely wife and I first drove into RSM in January 1987, it was clear to us how special RSM was,” he recalled. “I’m so exceptionally proud when people come into our community now, and I trust they have the same reaction.” McGirr stressed the deliberate

choice of “Way” in the street-naming process; “There is meaning behind it; we want everyone to know that this City we are so proud of today is because of Richard Reese and his vision we are doing it the Richard Reese Way.” This is only the second time in the City’s history a street has been renamed. At the request of Community Lutheran Church, the street Via Sosiego (translated Calm Way or Calm Road) was renamed to Via Con Dios (Go with God). The street is occupied by several houses of worship and is commonly referred to by residents as Church Row. The decision by the council also includes up to $2,000 to reimburse the only business with an El Portal address, Tutor Time Child Care/ Learning Center, to cover costs of an address change and update stateissued childcare licenses. Tutor Time supported the idea from the outset. The cost of signage is expected to be about $1,800, largely because PV Maintenance has offered to replace five small street signs at no cost to the City. McGirr said he expected an unveiling ceremony to take place in the near future, and invited Reese, who was in the audience, to share

his reaction to the Council’s decision. “The first time you brought this up to me, the first thought that went through my mind was that I haven’t been that surprised or excited since I was 4 years old and got an electric train set for Christmas, said Reese, 87. He credited all city council members through the years for maintaining his vision, saying the master developer has control of the community “up to a point, but when you sell the first home it no longer belongs to you, it belongs to the residents. As a master planner you pray the leadership of the community will carry that vision forward.” Reese also told those in attendance of an “affirmation” sign that hung on his office wall when he began the project in 1979, and that it was really a promise to those who would eventually settle in the county’s southeastern cul-de-sac: “It is possible to create an urban village in a permanent open space setting in such a manner that people will have the opportunity to choose to live lifestyles that reach beyond the mere satisfaction of basic human needs and embrace wellness, well-being, full self-expression and participative governance as normal everyday activities.”

Mother’s Day Proclamation 1870 by Mary Langenback Every one of us has had or has a mother or step mother, at some point in our lives. Mothers day has been celebrated since the early 1900’s. Although my own mother has passed away and I have no children of my own, I still remember her wonderful influence on my life. In celebration of mother’s day I wanted to learn about the history of mother’s day and was surprised to find out that it was originally a woman’s reaction to war. Julia Ward Howe, herself influenced by a one Anna Jarvis who sought to improve sanitation through “Mother’s Work days” in the mid 1850’s. So originally Mother’s day was a day for Mothers to work to improve the lives of those around them. Julia Ward Howe, who lived through the Civil War, saw it as the only way to attempt to stop men from warring with each other. Call it what you will, but her idea was a day of peace. In 1870 she gave a proclamation (Read in full at: http://womenshistory.about.com/ od/howejwriting/a/mothers_day.htm) for women to take counsel together after mourning their dead and to make an attempt to influence those around them, especially their family members, to do all they can to stop war and live at peace with their brothers and sisters around the globe.

It was to be remembered that war has many other side effects than just the funerals during and afterward. There was an emotional effect upon women all over the world, crying for their dead, some who had depended upon those men for support, in societies that do not allow women to work. Some of these women with no men to depend on must get married to men they don’t like, or go into prostitution for survival. The effect also was (and is) economic, men in the 1800’s were the primary bread winners even here in America. Mothers day was first celebrated in a small church, the church in Virginia where Anna Jarvis’ daughter attended. Soon this holiday spread to most of the other 48 continental states. By 1920 it had been celebrated as a national holiday. Slowly, but surely we have stripped it of its original meaning, and have continued to war against ourselves (even our own family members and neighbors) and those of other countries. Even now we are at war in several places in the middle east. Our sons, and husbands, and fathers and lovers have gone off to war and this month we are going to sit at home with those who have stayed behind and celebrate the fact that we, or our relatives and friends, are mothers. Some husbands and families will cry (inside at least),

because now there are some mothers at war. We have come a long, long way and it is so very, very sad to say where we have ended up. We celebrate, adore, worship, and congratulate the mothers, the first time mothers, the oldest mother’s, the youngest mothers and the mothers with the most children. This is not how Mother’s day was supposed to be celebrated. As I said earlier, the original Mothers day was “celebrated” by mothers going out and caring about the health and sanitation of their communities. So, this Mother’s day when you are buying her gifts and taking her

out to dinner, take a long, long look at her. Think of what the world would be without our mothers, without our mother’s love and teaching. Think about what femininity meant to society in the past. It meant a caregiver in the family, a teacher, a spiritual leader, one who would (ideally) teach about peace and brotherhood. Then, talk together, after the younger kids have gone to bed, about how mothers, fathers and possibly what your family can do this next year to influence others to stop war. Lets get back to Julia Ward Howe’s original plea: Disarm! Disarm! or even the 1960’s motto: “Make love, not war”!

Coto de Caza’s Annie hall raises funds for Kindles for Kenyan Children

By Jim Graves Annie Hall, 17, of Coto de Caza, California, wants to raise $10,000 to help poor school children in Kenya. The money will be used to supply a box of Kindles on which will be placed reading materials for Maasai children in the Enkereri region of Kenya. “Learning is everything,” said Annie, a junior at Tesoro High School in Las Flores. “If these children can get a good education, they can reach for higher opportunities in their lives and will have a brighter future.” Annie traveled to Kenya with her family on an African vacation through Exclusive Resorts (www. exclusiveresorts.com) to view wildlife. After viewing elephants, cheetahs and lions, her family headed to Enkereri to experience life in a Maasai village. The Maasai live in simple mud huts and are known for their colorful red clothing and leaping ability. Many are farmers or create trinkets to sell to tourists who frequent the area. The village included a local school for children ages 6-14. Annie remarked, “The school itself was shocking as compared to back home. It had such minimal accommodations

and the few books they had were old and worn.” The schoolchildren, however, were “passionate” about learning, and “everyone in our group wanted to help them get a good education.” The children, who spoke English, asked Annie about the sports she played, and how she spent her free time. They were “fascinated” by her sunglasses which none of them had as well as her iPhone. Annie learned that one of the school’s most immediate needs was for reading materials. When she returned home she sprang into action, raising $10,000 from family and friends for a box of 50 Kindles. Each Kindle contains 100 pre-loaded books, which will be shipped to the Enkereri school. She is raising an additional $10,000 for a second box of Kindles. “Many of these Kenyan children have ambitious goals,” observed Annie. “They want to go on to university and make something of their lives. I want to help them.” To s u p p o r t t h e K e n y a n Kindles program, visit https:// f u n d r a i s e . w o r l d r e a d e r. o r g / fundraise?fcid=445038.

R epresentati v e M imi W a l ters S u pports F Y 1 6 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Bill U.S. Representative Mimi Walters (CA-45) released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 2029, the fiscal year 2016 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill. This legislation provides $76.6 billion in discretionary funding to house, train, and equip military personnel; to maintain base infrastructure; to support the quality of life of our nation’s troops and families; and to fund veterans’ benefits and programs. H.R. 2029 passed in the U.S. House by a vote of 255 to 163 and now awaits consideration by the U.S. Senate. Said Rep. Mimi Walters, “Providing for our nation’s brave veterans, servicemen and women, and their families, is one of the highest duties of the federal government. The funding in this bill would ensure that our veterans are receiving access to the highest quality services and care, that our servicemembers’ housing is supported, and that the necessary infrastructure for wartime, crisis, and peace support is maintained. This legislation would also speed up claims processing at the VA and put in place a modernized electronic health record system to help ensure our veterans receive proper medical care in a timely and effective manner. I’m hopeful the Senate will act quickly to pass this vital bill for our nation’s service members and veterans.” Walters represents California’s 45th District and sits on the House Transportation and Infrastructure and Judiciary Committees.

Beat the heat and save some green with these warm weather energy saving ideas

There are plenty of reasons to be excited that winter is finally over. Among them: no more slick roads, heavy jackets, freezing temperatures or dry skin. Spring’s arrival also means an end to those expensive heating bills you paid all season. But just because warmer weather is here doesn’t mean your bills are gone. In fact, if your home isn’t as energy efficient as it could be, your summer cooling bills could be just as costly. If you’d like to make a change, here’s how you can invest in your home to increase its value, make it more energy efficient, improve your comfort, and save money in the long run. * Make sure your system is running properly. Any plan to improve energy efficiency in your home should start with a thorough review of your heating and cooling system. Sealing leaky ducts can improve your cooling efficiency by 20 percent. That means big savings on your monthly cooling bills. * Invest in new windows. Replacing your current windows with new products like Mezzo Windows from Alside offers you the chance to meet 2015 ENERGY STAR requirements

today. Mezzo’s dual-pane insulated glass helps prevent cool air from leaving your home and warm air from entering, making your home more energy efficient. Its narrowline frame provides a larger glass area for unobstructed views and an extensive collection of color and grid options mean Mezzo fits most any architectural style. * Replace outdated incandescent light bulbs in your home with ENERGY STAR qualified light bulbs. These bulbs have a longer shelf life and are 75 percent more energy efficient than traditional bulbs. Replacing every bulb in your home with an ENERGY STAR bulb will lead to big energy savings in the months and years ahead. * Make sure your home’s envelope is secure. Your home’s envelope includes its outer walls, ceiling, windows and floors. Consider the benefits of insulated siding products. Prodigy Insulated Siding from Alside is up to 1.5 inches thick, making it an exceptional option to improve the R-value of your exterior walls which can help you save energy and money. In addition, the siding’s clean lines and wide array of rich colors offer your

home a modern look that increases its curb appeal. * Get audited. No one wants to be financially audited, but inviting an energy auditor to your home allows you to explore new energy-saving options. Your energy auditor will evaluate your home and offer you cost-effective measures to help you save energy and money. Expect to pay a small fee up front for the assessment, but you will easily

recoup that money by acting on the information you receive. Warmer weather doesn’t need to equal higher energy bills. Following these tips can help lower your energy expenses and improve the look of your home at the same time. To learn more about how new, lowmaintenance windows and siding can increase your home’s energy efficiency and curb appeal, visit alside.com.

Giving from the heart: Create meaningful, personalized gifts that are quick and easy to make Giving from the heart: Simple Kiosk. In various formats and sizes

tips for creating personalized gifts with deep meaning It’s that time of year to recognize the important people in your life. From Mother’s Day and Father’s Day to weddings and graduations, there are plenty of reasons to celebrate your loved ones. But this year, don’t fall into the trap of giving generic cards and gifts that are often discarded. It’s easier than ever to create a special present that comes from the heart, for any occasion. Personalization is a leading gifting trend, meaning more people are skipping generic gift options and creating sentimental presents that instantly become cherished keepsakes. Gifts that convey meaning and embrace special memories are sure to make a lasting impression. Even for the most time-starved among us, the following quick and easy ideas are guaranteed to make your loved one smile: One-of-a-kind card: Make her blush or brighten his day with a customized card that features fun photos and a touching message. Creating a wonderful, one-of-a-kind creation takes just a few minutes when you take your camera or photo card to the nearest KODAK Picture Page 14

for less than $2.00, photo cards are very affordable and have loads of sentimental value. Choose from tons of exclusive modern, creative layouts from designers like Bonnie Marcus to delight every parent, grad or bride-tobe in your life. Personalized flowerpot: Beautiful blooms and warm weather are the perfect pairing, and giving flowers is always a classic gift. But why not take it one step further and make a personalized flowerpot that can be used season after season? Perfect for Mom, Grandma or anyone with a green thumb, flowerpots can be decorated with a favorite photo and then painted for a one-of-akind homemade design. Finish by adorning with a colorful bow that matches the beautiful blooms held within the pot. Photo collages: A carefully crafted photo collage of special images can make a stunning gift that tugs at the heartstrings and only takes minutes to make. Thanks to advanced printing technology, you can skip the scissors and paste and create a professional-looking collage for less at your local photo printer. For mothers, add photos of special family moments from a recent vacation, or

The Coto de Caza News

for grads, add photos from different grades as way to reflect on how quickly time flies. Place the collage in a frame and pair it with a card for a gift that will be cherished long after the party is over. Creative handprints: Every person’s hand and fingerprints are unique - use them to create crafty gifts that convey the special love your family shares for each other. Hand impressions in clay stepping stones make unique presents that can be placed in a garden or displayed on a shelf. Or, adorn a family picture with a matte featuring the kids’ handprints. Use paint or ink and carefully press hands to the matte so it doesn’t smudge. You might want to try a few times on a practice piece of paper first before adding handprints to the matte. Choose one color or let kids each pick

their own favorite hue to represent their unique personalities. Photo blocks: Impress loved ones young and old by creating special photo blocks that display favorite images from the past year. Start by buying wood blocks at your local craft store. Usually four or five is a good amount. Then order prints - any time, anywhere by downloading the free My KODAK Moments App, which makes it easy to access images from your phone or social media sites like Facebook or Instagram. Once materials are collected, cut each photo to the block size and attach with spray adhesive. Add a special message on the corner of each block with a marker or stamp. Some people write out “mama,” “love” or another special word to add a personalized touch to this easy-tomake project.

Give the Gift of a Homemade Gift Basket to your Mom!

Homemade Mother’s Day Gourmet Baskets are a perfect gift to give your Mother. Not only can you tailor your gift basket to your mother’s taste, but you can also pamper your Mom at the same time. Match her hobbies and passions to each basket. Make sure to add a special touch by finishing off your Mother’s Day Gift Basket by adding a bow or cellophane wrap. Mother’s Day Gourmet Baskets: Gourmet Apple Baskets Who doesn’t love a basket full of gourmet apples given to their mother? Give the gift of fresh produce inside a beautiful basket that is perfect for any coffee table or the centerpiece for a kitchen table. At Fruit Gift Baskets Online, you will receive the best apples out of the crop. When ordering the apples it is important to know how you are going to give this gift basket. You could send the apples in the given basket, or to send the apples to yourself, then place the apples inside a decorative basket of your choosing. The choice is your own, depending on location of recipient. I prefer to decorate myself, but the option is yours. What You Need: 12 Gourmet or Organic Apples One round or square Basket One Bow Directions: Check your local market to see how fresh the apples are. Depending on the season, it may be more beneficial to order apples online versus the local

market. The key is getting the freshest apples. Once you have these, you will also need a earthy basket to fill the gourmet apples. Now, for your basket: check Big Lots or Michaels for a beautiful Mother’s Day Gift Basket that is empty and ready for you to fill. To decorate, simply fill the apples into the basket. Add a card and slip between the apples. Finish by adding a bow to basket. This gift is simple, yet elegant, making a perfect Mother’s Day Basket. Mother’s Day Gourmet Baskets: Beauty Gift Baskets Give a beauty gift basket to any mom who needs a little pampering in her life. Not only will she love the spa gift basket, but she will appreciate the thought behind the Mother’s Day Gift. What You Need: One Round or decorative Basket One Loofah One bottle of Lotion One bottle of Silk Lotion One Bottle of Hand Cream One small candle One tube of hand therapy cream One Hallmark Card Directions: This Mother’s Day Gift is all about pampering your Mom. They key is to know what her favorite scent is, and then buying accordingly. Jasmine, lavender, or vanilla is perfect stand by scents if you need a scent to use. Now, that you are ready to assemble the beauty gift basket, take your basket and add each spa treatment into the basket. This is not only easy,

but quick to assemble. Now that your basket is complete, now add the candle to your empty basket, now add bow to basket. Finish off the basket by slipped your signed Hallmark card into the completed gift basket. Mother ’s Day Gift Basket: Chocolates What mom doesn’t love a little chocolate on Mother’s Day? Give her the gift of sweets that she probably won’t buy herself. Does your loves Hershey’s Chocolate, Godiva Chocolate, Truffles, or Chocolate Caramels? This chocolate gift basket

it only easy but a fun way to celebrate your Mom. What you need: One Large Basket Chocolates Directions: The key is knowing what chocolates your mother loves. This will make your shopping experience, easy and quick. And that is what we all want, no doubt. If you are having trouble finding the chocolates, check your local grocery stores “chocolate section” or go online at Godiva. Add chocolates to basket, then add a Hallmark card to finish off this gourmet gift basket.

Throw a perfect party - without costs and clutter

Whether it’s your child’s birthday or your relatives are flying in from overseas to take part in a family reunion, your life is filled with special events worth celebrating. Of course, you’d love to salute every one of them with a once-in-a-lifetime party, but how do you do that without winding up with a garage filled with party clutter that you’ll never use again and an empty wallet? It’s easier than you think. Celebrating that special event doesn’t have to break the bank or leave you the not-so-proud owner of items you’ll have no use for once the party is over. There is another solution: rent what you need. You’ll wow your guests and save money in the process. Not sure what can be rented? Here are some ideas to create a party beyond your guests’ wildest expectations. Create the perfect environment Many party planners feel constrained by the materials they already own when hosting a party, but the truth is renting opportunities allow you to create an atmosphere limited only by your imagination. If you’re looking to hold your party Page 22

outside, rent a tent. Your area rental business will have tents available in all shapes, sizes and styles, allowing you to pick the perfect one for your event. Heating and cooling units are also available so your guests will always be comfortable, regardless of weather conditions.

The Coto de Caza News

You’ll also be able to rent tables and chairs, saving you from having to try and borrow these items or, worse yet, buying more for this one occasion. It creates a more relaxing atmosphere for your guests and they’ll be able to sit and rest rather than having to stand up throughout the event. For a more formal affair, your local rental store can also provide linens, table service and stemware to complete your look. This will keep you from having to use disposables or from washing dishes when the event is finished, allowing you to relax and enjoy your company. Wow them with food If you’re in charge of planning the party, you’ve probably been nervously pondering what you will do about the food. No other party aspect requires so much work, and often you still find yourself eating leftovers for weeks. But rental stores offer several options that will help you wow your guests and indulge them at the same time. Keeping foods the perfect temperature is always a challenge when hosting an event, but there are some great options available for rent. An ice table is a great way to keep things chilled in the summer heat, preventing undesirable illness. For hot foods, chafers will keep main dishes hot for hours so guests can eat at their leisure. When it comes to that main course, grilling allows you to feed a lot of people with minimal prep work. But what if you don’t have a grill? You can always rent one. Many rental facilities

offer grills of varying sizes, allowing you the chance to pick the right grill for your event. Consider renting a popcorn machine for your party. People get hungry at different times and a popcorn machine allows your guests to serve themselves and munch on this delicious snack while they wait for the main course. Activities for kids of any age Whether it’s a birthday party, a family reunion or some other gathering, odds are children will be at your party. If your venue lacks the appropriate activities to entertain kids for the long haul, consult your area rental facility for options. An inflatable bounce house will keep your youngest guests entertained for hours while obstacle courses or laser tag are great options for your teenage guests. And the biggest kids at your event will enjoy a casino night with the games you rented. If you’re expecting a large number of children at that family reunion, you may also consider renting a helium tank and providing balloons for your younger guests. The kids will be entertained, and you’ll save yourself from being out of breath all afternoon. Chances are you know what that next once-in-a-lifetime event in your family is. The only question is, how will you celebrate it? Consult your local rental facility or visit RentalHQ. com for more ideas. You’ll quickly learn that the only limit to planning your next party is your imagination.

Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts Because Even Mother’s Need to Relax from Time to Time By Amy Brantley Relaxation, it’s not really a word you associate with mothers, is it? It’s time that we change that. This year give your mother a gift that will allow her to relax. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #1: Massage Gift Certificate Mother’s Day is a time for moms to be treated like royalty. One way you can make sure your mother gets treated like royalty is to send her to a spa to get a massage. This is a gift she will love, especially after a hard week of work. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #2: Sleep Mask Sleeping in is a treat that mother’s very rarely get to enjoy. Even when she does get to sleep in, her sleep is usually disrupted by the sun. A wonderful way to avoid this dilemma is to buy her a sleep mask. Then she will be able to sleep in and get that well deserved rest. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #3: Neck Pillow Laying down for a quick nap is a wonderful way to relax, but grabbing

a quick nap on the couch isn’t always comfortable. That’s why this relaxation gift is perfect for your mom. Now it doesn’t matter where she grabs that quick nap as long as she has this gift nearby. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #4: Scented Candles Relaxation is appealing to all the senses, even the sense of smell. I highly suggest getting aromatherapy candles that claim to have relaxing or stress relieving scents. Your mother will love this gift. Even when she’s folding laundry, she can be relaxing. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #5: Relaxing CD A CD that has classical music on it is very relaxing, but a CD that has the sounds of waterfalls, birds, etc is relaxing as well. These CDs are wonderful to play, in the background, while grabbing that quick nap. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #6: Foot Spa This gift is relaxation at it’s finest. Your mother will love getting this gift on Mother’s Day. She can sit and watch TV or even read a book while

getting a wonderful foot massage. You could even include lotion and foot scrub so that she can have a mini pedicure at home. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #7: Coupons for Free Dinners If you live nearby, this makes a wonderful Mother’s Day gift. There may be days when your mother doesn’t feel like cooking. When this happens she could call you up and redeem her coupon. If you give these coupons, I highly suggest you have some easy recipes handy so that you can quickly cook up a fast and delicious meal. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #8: Coupons for Free Cleaning I suggest you live nearby before giving this gift on Mother’s Day. The only reason I say this is because if you live far away, and are only home on holidays, you may be stuck with cleaning up after the holidays, which can be horrible. Of course, you should help out at the holidays, but doing it all yourself is just too much. She will love having these coupons around when she’s not feeling to well.

Walking: the old way to get fit is new again

With so many fitness trends, you might not think of walking as good exercise. If you’re not thrusting a kettlebell over your head, pushing a tractor trailer tire or shaking your hips to a Top 40 dance beat in a scheduled group class, you’re not cutting it, right? Well, not so fast. Walking is actually a great way to get in shape. In fact, if you walk often enough and fast enough, the simple act of putting one foot in front of the other can satisfy your body’s daily requirement for aerobic activity. Walking may just seem like an old method of exercise; it certainly is tried and true. But quite the opposite of outdated, it seems to be making a resurgence in the health, fitness and medical worlds as a low-cost solution to the nation’s ongoing health care crisis. Renowned medical expert Dr. Andrew Weil is an advocate of walking as a crucial method of preventative care. He advocates walking as a low-risk means to optimum health. “With a consistent, brisk walking routine, you can boost your immune system, help manage weight, improve your mood and help ease depression, as well as improve cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure and prevent osteoporosis,” says Weil. “The additional benefits may be endless.” Regarded as a leader in the world of integrative medicine, Weil is part of a panel of experts with Vionic Innovation Lab, an innovative footwear company leading the way for proper foot health and active lifestyle solutions. With new products

such as the Zen walking shoe, Vionic offers podiatrist-designed technology in contemporary styles, providing an innovative support for anyone in need of a supportive shoe or sandal to start or improve her walking routine. The walking movement is growing: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that between 2005 and 2010, the number of adults who walked for 10 minutes or more at least once a week rose from 56 to 62 percent - an increase of almost 20 million people. Need more convincing reasons to walk onto the bandwagon? Here’s why walking for exercise is so ideal: * Walking is what your body is designed to do. *Among all forms of aerobic exercise, walking carries the least risk of injury. * You can walk almost anywhere, any time. * Nearly everyone can walk, and it’s something you can do throughout your life. * It’s free. * There’s no special skill, training, or equipment needed - all you need is the right footwear. The buzz about walking has even reached the stars. Fitness trainer to celebrities such as Kate Walsh, Pink and Stacey Kiebler, Juliet Kaska has been known to start many of her high-profile clientele with a consistent walking routine. Also contributing to the Vionic Innovation lab as a lifestyle expert, Kaska recommends walking as a great baseline for any fitness program, but

reminds her followers to “invest in a good pair of walking shoes. They will do wonders for your posture and joints. Minimizing the impact of each step. Look for lightweight flexible shoes and be sure to replace them often, especially if you’re walking every day.” As you develop your walking program, set your own pace. As a general rule, taking 10,000 steps a day is a great goal for improving your overall physical, emotional and mental fitness. But the journey, as they say, begins with a single step. There’s no better time than now to begin.

NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call (916)939-0772 or visit this Internet Web http://search.nationwideposting.com/ propertySearchTerms.aspx, using the file number assigned to this case CA1100227300 Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale. If the sale is set aside for any reason, the Purchaser at the sale shall be entitled only to a return of the deposit paid. The Purchaser shall have no further recourse against the Mortgagor, the Mortgagee or the Mortgagee’s attorney.
