“We are inviting Coto residents to attend a Town Hall meeting where we can present the proposed project for homes to be built on a portion of the property owned by William and Willa Dean Lyon,” said Carol McDermot spokes person for the Lyon family. The majority of the 134-acre estate will remain untouched and the proposed project will site twenty eight additional homes on approximately 60 acres of the estate. The plan proposes to retain many existing natural features of the site including sensitive habitat and oak trees as well as ridgelines. The resource preservation area within the Lyon Estate will be expanded from approximately 6 acres to 30 acres.

Good Vision Helps Children Excel in School With children heading back to school soon, parents’ to-do lists keep getting longer – shopping for clothes, shoes and supplies, going to the doctor for yearly physicals or checkups, and making appointments at the dentist, among other things. What is easily forgotten or put off is a yearly eye exam. According to a survey conducted by KRC Research on behalf of Think About Your Eyes, about 60 percent of parents do not consider eye exams as a necessary part of children’s health checkup schedule. However, skipping these exams means children run the risk of being unprepared for school with an undiagnosed vision problem or eye disease. While a cough or hurt ankle might trigger you to take your child to the doctor without hesitation, eye problems are difficult to notice without proactive measures. In fact, 84 percent of parents in the same survey admitted they wait for a child to complain of a vision issue before taking them in for an eye exam. Children, however, especially those who have had vision problems for an extended amount of time, aren’t always able to recognize the problem themselves. Although some schools perform yearly vision screenings, it is important for parents to know that these tests only gauge a child’s ability to see at a distance. A full vision screening from an eye care professional is needed to evaluate how well a child’s eyes function and how well they focus on items closer to the face. With increased up-close reading, such as that required when

using a computer, this information is becoming more critical. The American Optometric Association estimates that as much as 80 percent of what children learn – reading, writing, computer work and day-to-day observation – happens through sight, so it’s more important now than ever to have children tested by an optometrist. According to the American Optometric Association, by age six (before they start school), children should receive at least three eye exams. If you find that your child does need glasses, the experts at Essilor offer these tips for selecting the right eyeglass lenses: • Bright reflections and glare can cause irritation, eye strain, discomfort and damage to your child’s eyes. In addition to the right prescription, it is important to purchase lenses that protect against these visual distractions. Lenses such as Crizal Kids UV lenses offer protection from glare caused by sunlight, whiteboards, fluorescent lights,

computer screens and video games. • Skin isn’t the only part of the body that needs protection from the sun’s harsh UV rays. Choose lenses that shield the eye from UV exposure, in addition to taking other preventative measures against sun exposure. • Just like anything else you buy for your child, glasses need to stand up to the test of time. Sturdy frames are important, but the lenses inside your child’s frames are vulnerable and need protection as well. Lenses that are scratch and impact resistant will help ensure a clear line of sight. Some lenses for children, such as Crizal Kids UV No-Glare lenses, also help repel water and smudges, making it easier to weather everyday wear and tear. With the variety of options available, you can easily find the right lenses for your child’s vision needs. Visit www.Crizal.com to find an eye care professional and give your child a boost in the classroom this school year. Photo courtesy of Getty Images

COTO DE CAZA’s Katie Hilton Commits to teach in high need community and advocate for educational equity Teach For America announced today that a Coto de Caza local has been accepted into the organization’s 2015 teaching corps. Teach For America is a national nonprofit working to expand educational opportunity for students in low-income communities. Corps members commit to teach in high-need urban or rural public schools and become lifelong advocates for educational equity. Katie Hilton, a 2011 graduate of Santa Margarita Catholic HS and a 2015 graduate of University of California, Berkeley, will teach in Dallas-Fort Worth. “Santa Margarita Catholic High School had very high academic expectations of students, but also held us to a high standard of serving others and having a positive impact on our community.” In our country’s lowest-income communities, just 6 percent of students will graduate college by the time they’re 25. Katie joins a network of 50,000 corps members and alumni working alongside parents, principals, and communities for positive change. “It is with incredible excitement we welcome this group of remarkable and diverse corps members,” said Elisa Villanueva Beard, co-CEO

of Teach For America. “They join a group of 50,000 leaders who have raised their hand to be part of ensuring every child has access to an excellent and equitable education.” Over the past 25 years, thousands of talented individuals have launched or continued careers in social justice through Teach For America. Hundreds of corps members and alumni have been honored as teachers of the year by their school, district, county, or state. More founders and leaders of entrepreneurial education organizations started careers with TFA than from any other organization or company. Alumni have gone on to become leaders in politics, school systems, nonprofit work, advocacy, and more. Together, they form a nationwide network helping to expand and strengthen the movement to give all kids access to a great education. About Teach For America Teach For America works in partnership with communities to expand educational opportunity for children facing the challenges of poverty. Founded in 1990, Teach For America recruits and develops a diverse corps of outstanding college graduates and professionals to make an initial two-year commitment to teach

Tesoro Titans Defeat Edison 35-16 in Opening Game

FULL SPEED AHEAD Tesoro’s Ryan Harrington #15 escapes would-be Edison tackler and heads towards the goal line. Photography by Aaron Hartwell Tesoro Titan Football Coach Matt Poston had good reason for his confident attitude when his team took the field. The Titans’ earlier skirmishes and practices demonstrated that this year’s team has many skilled and talented players at several positions. With the exception of a surprise injury to running back Anthony Battista who was relegated to the sidelines for the Edison exhibition, all of the Tesoro team seemed ready to demonstrate their talents. The Titans quickly established their territorial dominance with six returning offensive football players including the returning quarterback Devon Modster hurling two touchdowns and rushing for an additional three scores as Titan linemen opened gaping holes in the Edison team’s defensive formations. While the Titan’s opponent Edison based in Huntington Beach in the South Coast league had several elite players, Tesoro running backs also

outperformed the defenders with extra endurance and speed which appears to validate Coach Matt Poston’s methodology and tactical training. Coach Matt Poston first came to Tesoro High School when the school opened in 2001. He served as both a mathematics teacher, and as the Head Freshman Football Coach for the next six years, and his teams’ overall record was 54-6, winning their league every year but once. In 2007, after being promoted to Varsity Defensive Coordinator, Coach Poston held that position for three years. During that period the Titans were 25-10, and won the South Coast League twice. In 2008, the Tesoro Titans had a remarkable season defeating outstanding programs such as San Clemente, Mission Viejo, Mater Dei, and Orange Lutheran before losing to Long Beach Poly in the Pac 5 championship by three points. In 2010, Coach Poston left Tesoro

to become the Varsity Head Football Coach at Capo Valley High School, but returned when Tesoro Head Football coaching position became available, Coach Poston felt it was time to return home to the school and program he helped build. Matt and his family live in Ladera Ranch. The Tesoro Titans travel tonight to

tackle one of their toughest upcoming opponents in the league against Santa Ana’s formidable Mater Dei Monarchs. The following weeks offer little rest against the mighty opponents Mission Viejo High School, and San Clemente High School promising an interesting season.

JOYFUL NOISE! Home town crowd of cheerful Tesoro Titans send up a cheer!

HORRIFIED DEFENDERS can only watch as Tesoro’s Shane Coleman #18 intercepts a pass within sight of the goal line.

An estimated 25,000 runners, 50,000 spectators, and 2,000 volunteers around the world will unite during the weekends in August and September for the annual 9/11 Heroes Runs, which the Travis Manion Foundation created to honor heroes of the September 11 terrorist attacks and the brave men and women who have stepped forward to defend our country in the 14 years since. troops, police officers, firefighters, first responders, and citizens will unite. Close to 50 races across the globe are planned for 2015, with half of net proceeds benefiting the Travis Manion Foundation, which helps families of the fallen, veterans, and active duty troops. The remaining 50 percent will be redistributed to local charities, including the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group. About the 9/11 Heroes Run The 9/11 Heroes Run was inspired by Marine 1st Lt. Travis Manion’s visit to Rescue Team One in New York City shortly before his second

and final combat deployment. Travis, who was posthumously awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star with Valor for the courage he displayed under fire, was killed by an enemy sniper in Fallujah, Iraq, on April 29, 2007. After her only son’s death, Travis’ mother, Janet Manion, founded the Travis Manion Foundation with a mission of honoring the fallen by challenging the living. The 9/11 Heroes Run is one of the Foundation’s pillar programs, which also include Honor the Fallen initiatives and the Character Does Matter leadership program. 19th Stars & Stripes Tournament with Sammy Hagar Raises Over $2.8 Million for Orange County Youth Organizations With Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Sammy Hagar providing a hard-rocking soundtrack, Stars & Stripes tournament organizers reeled in a record-setting amount of over $2.8 million for Orange County children’s charities at its 19th annual fishing, golf and music fundraiser in Mexico, breaking the 2014 record of $2.7 million. More than 600 philanthropically minded participants reeled, putted and rocked to support five Orange County youth organizations: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, Miracles For Kids, Orangewood Children’s Foundation, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Orange County, and HomeAid Orange County. The four-day festival, held June 25-28 at the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort in Mexico, pushed the figure of total funds raised since 1997 to $22+ million - more than any other fishing tournament benefiting children’s charities in the United States. This year’s sponsors included SASCO, the Honda Center and the Anaheim Ducks. “We have people coming back every year to participate Board Chairman and Founder Dick Gebhard said. “But most of all, participants and sponsors get – and stay – involved because Stars & Stripes exists to help improve the lives of young people and their families. It’s all about the kids for us.” An elected, volunteer board of directors, “The Knights,” manages the event along with Gebhard, which includes members Tim Ryan, CEO of the Honda Center and executive vice president of the Anaheim Ducks, Al Baldwin, chairman at Baldwin and Sons, Jeff Cunningham, senior vice president of Construction Management Services at Shea Properties, Larry Kirkenslager, senior vice president of pre-construction for Sasco Electric Inc., and Charles Ruck, partner at Latham & Watkins LLP. As a Stars & Stripes beneficiary, charities not only receive much-needed financial assistance to expand their programs but also increase public awareness about their cause through the Stars & Stripes network. Gebhard came up with the idea when he was a board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County. He wanted to create a fundraiser unlike any other by combining fishing, golfing and music. He came up with the unique event title to emphasize the youth stars helped by tournament fundraising as well as the striped marlin found in the Sea of Cortez. “There’s nothing like Stars & Stripes. Its friends and supporters are some of the most committed philanthropists in Orange County and beyond,” said Melissa Beck, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County. At sunrise each day of the tournament, anglers launched into the abundant waters off the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, a fertile environment for plenty of sport-fish species. The Sea of Cortez also provided the backdrop for golfers playing at the 18-hole, par 72 Chileno Bay Golf Course, The festival has developed a reputation for attracting famed musicians and bands to perform at the signature Saturday night dinner, during which fishing and golfing awards are presented. This year topped previous expectations, with Sammy Hagar ¬playing a concert on the beach with Cabo Uno. Known to fans as the Red Rocker, Hagar is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee responsible for some of the greatest rock anthems ever written. The Stars & Stripes tournament, benefiting youth charities since 1997, is a world-class charity fundraiser that combines spectacular deep-sea fishing and golf on Mexico’s finest courses with beautiful accommodations and top-notch musical entertainment. The hugely popular event has raised and donated more than $22 million to youth charities over its 19-year history, and creates lasting memories for the organizations it assists.

Boost Back To School Success with These Breakfast Tips A daily breakfast leads to not only better overall nutrition, but better school performance as well. A simple breakfast at home or school can ensure that your child doesn’t start the day hungry. It also ensures that your child has the nutrients and energy he or she needs during the morning to concentrate on learning. Research shows that kids who eat a morning meal have better memory, attention and behavior, and score higher on tests. Eating a nutritious breakfast is a great way for children to be on target to meet their daily needs for key nutrients, like calcium the bonebuilding mineral found in milk, cheese or yogurt. Children who don’t eat breakfast also are less likely to get all of the essential nutrients they need each day to thrive. Dairy and breakfast go hand in hand. Dairy delivers a unique package of nine essential nutrients in a variety of tasty and affordable options, and dairy protein helps supports healthy muscles while keeping young tummies feeling full until the next meal.

With so many types of milk, cheese and yogurt to choose from, it’s easy for every family member to find their favorite way to start the day with a healthy dose of dairy. Try these ideas to boost school success: • Build a yogurt parfait or whip up a yogurt smoothie, such as this PeachMango and Cereal Smoothie. • Eat pizza for breakfast; it’s sure to put a smile on your kids’ faces. • Build a breakfast burrito bar so kids can create the breakfast they love. Prepare toppings the night before and in the morning, scramble the eggs and warm the tortillas. This school year, call on dairy and breakfast to set your kids up for success in the classroom. Side- splitting Laughs : One Man, Two Guvnors Opens South Coast Repertory’s Season

Laughter will be on tap in South Coast Repertory’s season-opener, One Man, Two Guvnors by Richard Bean, with songs by Grant Olding. The raucously funny show has earned praise from audiences and critics alike during performances in London (West End), New York (Broadway) and the West Coast (Berkeley Repertory Theatre). David Ivers directs the production on the Segerstrom Stage, Sept. 11-Oct. 11. Tickets are now available at www. scr.org. One Man, Two Guvnors is a comedy of mistaken identity. Francis, a failed washboard musician with an insatiable appetite, has to keep his

two jobs secret from his two bosses… and they’re hiding a few secrets of their own. Set in swinging ‘60s England, to the tune of a live band, anything can happen (and probably will) in this hilarious show. The play is a co-production with Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Ivers said he is drawn to One Man, Two Guvnors because “the world of farce and physical comedy marries precision with being a child, with childishness innocence, purity and total youthful exuberance with a kind of virtuosity. This is a really visceral, energetic, stupid-in-the-best-way, frolicking mess, with rock-and-roll supporting this absolutely insane, wonderful, chaotic world.” Ivers is artistic director of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, where he has been creating productions as director and actor since 1992. In recent seasons, he has directed Twelfth Night, Twelve Angry Men, Romeo and Juliet and Cyrano De Bergerac, among others. He spent 10 years as a resident artist with the Denver Center Theatre Company and he helmed a premiere adaptation of The Cocoanuts for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. His other regional work includes productions at Pioneer Theatre Company, the Alabama and Idaho Shakespeare

Festivals, Portland Center Stage, Artists Repertory Theatre and Tacoma Actors Guild. Bean was a bread maker, studied psychology, became a psychologist and then a stand-up comic all before turning to playwriting. He found inspiration for One Man, Two Guvnors in an 18th-century Italian farce by Carlo Goldoni, The Servant of Two Masters. Among the awards Bean’s plays have received are the 2011 Evening Standard Award for Best Play for The Heretic and One Man, Two Guvnors and the 2011 Critics’ Circle Award for Best Play and 2012 Whatsonstage.com Award for Best New Comedy, both for One Man, Two Guvnors. His other work includes a stage version of David Mamet’s The House of Games; The English Game; and In the Club, a version of Molière’s The Hypochondriac. His radio plays include “Of Rats and Men,” “Yesterday,” “Unsinkable” and “Robin Hood’s Revenge.” The cast for One Man, Two Guvnors includes William Connell, Brad Culver, Dan Donohue, JohnDavid Keller, Louis Lotorto, Becca Lustgarten, Gerry McIntyre, Sarah Moser, Todd Pivetti, Helen Sadler, Danny Scheie, A.J. Sclafani, Steven Shear, Robert Sicular and Claire Warden. Musicians Casey Hurt, Mike

McGraw, Marcus Högsta and Andrew Niven perform as the band called The Craze. The design and creative team includes Gregg Coffin, music director; Hugh Landwehr, scenic design; Meg Neville, costume design; Alexander V. Nichols, lighting design; and Lindsay Jones, sound design; Gerry McIntyre, musical staging; and Joanne DeNaut, CSA, and Amy Potozkin, CSA, casting. The production manager is Joshua Marchesi and the stage manager is Jennifer Ellen Butler. One Man, Two Guvnors is generously supported by Honorary Producers Joan and Andy Fimiano. The Corporate Honorary Producer is US Bank. The media partner is Orange Coast magazine. Tickets start at $22. Discounts are available for full-time students, patrons 25 years of age and under, fulltime educators, seniors and groups of 10 or more. For complete information, visit: www.scr.org. Related Information for One Man, Two Guvnors Tickets: May be purchased online at www.scr.org, by phone at (714) 708-5555 or by visiting the Box Office at 655 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa. BREATHE IT IN - PACIFIC SYMPHONY’S CELEBRATORY “TCHAIKOVSKY SPECTACULAR ” DRAWS SUMMER TO A CLOSE Romantic Russian masterpieces give way to a thrilling orchestral battle featuring fireworks, cannons and brassy fanfare for Pacific Symphony’s “Tchaikovsky Spectacular,” featuring the composer’s “1812” Overture. The program’s centerpiece is Rachmaninoff’s virtuosic showpiece—the achingly beautiful, grand and lyrical Piano Concerto No. 2, performed by Olga Kern. Born in Russia to a family of musicians with direct links to both Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff, the captivating pianist was the first woman in 30 years to win the Gold Medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (2001). Led by Music Director Carl St.Clair, the concert opens with enchanting ballet music including excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s “The Sleeping Beauty” and Stravinsky’s shimmering Suite from “The Firebird.” Summer Festival 2015 comes to a dramatic close with an electrifying display of fireworks and 16 cannon shots in Tchaikovsky’s victorious “1812” Overture, featuring the Huntington Beach Concert Band, which also provides pre-concert entertainment. This annual summer tradition takes place on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre (formerly Verizon Wireless Amphitheater). The concert begins at 8 p.m. and

audience members are welcome to picnic on the grounds starting at 6 p.m. Tickets range from $25$107 and kids are half price in most sections. For more information or to purchase tickets, call (714) 755-5799 or visit www.PacificSymphony.org. It’s a breathtaking evening on multiple levels. On stage, musicians sport turquoise accents to help raise awareness for the American Lung Association in California LUNG FORCE Walk in a unique partnership between the two organizations. The Lung Association launched LUNG FORCE to unite everyone in the fight against lung cancer and for lung health. The orchestra is keenly aware that playing a wind instrument—or any instrument—requires healthy lungs. Breathing easy is, frankly, key to a fulfilling life. But the fact is, lung disease is the No. 3 killer in the U.S.; lung cancer is No. 1 cancer killer for both women and men, and; 70 percent of the population lives in areas affected by unhealthy air. On the flip side, research has shown that music has the power to ease pain and suffering, and to heal. The Symphony and the Lung Association join forces on this one special night, a victorious concert with its thundering cannons and spectacular fireworks, to raise awareness about the organization’s

work. The audience is invited to stand together in support of lung health and hope for the future. For more information about the Lung Association and the LUNG FORCE Walk, call (714) 332-3273 or email Kellie.Maguinness@lung.org. No one combines musical intimacy and sensuality with grand, monumental sound quite like Rachmaninoff, especially in his Piano Concerto No. 2. As a pianist as well as a composer living at the turn of the 20th century, Rachmaninoff became a celebrity in America, where he showed off virtuosic concertos he had written himself. Out of his four concertos, his second has become the most popular and admired by critics.

“The melodies are so beautiful and the music so recognizable, that everyone wants to play and hear it over and over again,” says the evening’s guest pianist Kern. “From the first opening piano solo chords sounding like bells in a church, through magnificent and magical dialogue between clarinet, piano and violins in the second movement, until the grand tutti of orchestra and piano together in the end of the third movement, Rachmaninoff transports all of us—performers and listeners—to a different world, full of incredibly beautiful harmonies and melodies, sadness, melancholy, love and passion.”

Money-saving tips to help you stock up this season As summer winds down, many are heading into a busy buying season with Labor Day soirees and preparing for back-to-school. With the average family expected to spend an average of $634.78 on back-toschool shopping this year, according to the National Retail Federation, consumers are seeking cost saving strategies to ensure they are getting the most bang for the buck. With more access to information thanks to online resources and smartphones, the power is in purchasers’ hands. In fact, the National Retail Federation forecast revealed that approximately 36 percent of shoppers will do more comparative shopping online for back-to-school 2015. Other ways people are cashing in on the savings is going back to the tried and true bulk shopping. Expert couponer, Kelly Snyder, of Kansas City Mamas says volume buying and storing goods correctly has made a positive impact on her family’s finances. However, one important thing to keep in mind is what to do with all those purchases you bring home. “The right storage is essential when

purchasing in bulk,” said Snyder. “Make sure you have enough storage space and invest in products and appliances that keep you organized and help preserve the integrity of your purchases.” Snyder points to refrigerators as a key investment piece for savvy shoppers who want to store large amounts of perishables. Snyder along with fellow top savings bloggers Briana Carter, of Bargain Briana, and Lauren Ortiz of Saving Addiction, offer their top tips to help shoppers best navigate through the sea of savings. * Don’t bypass a budget. Know how much you’ve spent in order to see your savings. By keeping a monthly budget, you’ll never pay too much. * Don’t create a storage war. Being organized will help keep track of what you have and prevent wasting food or needless purchases. For perishables, dedicate one shelf each in your refrigerator for beverages, produce and leftovers. * Get rewarded for loyalty. Join loyalty programs of establishments you frequent the most. Eventually your purchasing power will return

major perks. * Tracking gets you a treat. Create a price book to record costs for items over a six-week period. Make a purchase only when prices hit their low. You’ll optimize savings and often won’t need a coupon. * Increase your buying IQ with a smartphone. Download moneysaving and grocery coupon apps like SavingStar and Coupons.com, as well as apps for rewards programs like Shop Your Way. * Remember coupons are king. While many still enjoy clipping paper coupons, downloadable eCoupons are more popular than ever. Now,

eCoupons are more sophisticated by pushing savings based on style and shopping habits. This will not only save money, but save time too. * Go generic or store brands. It’s always better to go with a store brand if you don’t have a coupon for a name-brand item. While these versions are cheaper, they often offer similar quality. * Serve what’s on sale. Buying sale items in bulk allow you to precook meals in one day to be served over the week. A great kitchen helper to get this job done quickly would be a double oven.

Young Jumper Champions Crowned at Showpark All Seasons Tournament Blenheim EquiSports is pleased to host the Young Jumper Championships Western League Finals again this year. After three rounds, one on Thursday, one Friday and the last one today, three young champions in three age divisions rose to the top of the results. Jamie Sailor and Flashdance Capture the Win in the Five-Year-Old Division After Thursday and Friday’s qualifying rounds, all ten entries returned for the final round. Two of the ten, Michelle Parker and Cross Creek Farm’s U.S. Warmblood gelding CCF Yasur (Ocean I x Andiamo), along with Jamie Sailor and Felyn Farm’s Hanoverian gelding Flashdance (For Edition x Quinar), jumped through all three rounds fault free. The two talented five-year-olds returned for a jump-off to determine the winner. First in, Parker and CCF Yasur had an unfortunate refusal at fence 1. With the early morning shadows stretched out in front of the vertical, the young horse was unsure until he took a closer look. They finished with a nineteen fault score and time of 55.37. Sailor guided Flashdance smoothly around the course, securing her win with a clear round and an efficient time of 39.84. Danielle Matlock bred Flashdance. Making their YJC debut together, Sailor, assistant trainer at Mike Edrick Stables, and Flashdance, share a strong bond. “We’ve had him since he was three; I broke him,” she explained. “He knows his job. We hardly even school him at home. He loves the show ring and that’s where he will stay!” Michelle Parker and CCF Caramel Are Sweet in the Six-Year-Olds Out of the 24 entries in the sixyear-old division, the 15 who had accumulated the least amount of faults were invited back for the final round. One third of those who returned had a score of zero after jumping clean rounds on Thursday and Friday. By the end of the third round, Emily Esau Williams with Dayla Fischer’s Dutch mare Eranka B (Zacharov TN x Padinus), and Michelle Parker riding Dana Nemeth’s U.S. Warmblood mare CCF Caramel (Durango LS x Contango), remained fault free, which led to another jump-off, this time with two talented young females.

Jamie Sailor and Flashdance Williams and Eranka B laid down a speedy time of 35.96, but with an unlucky four faults at the in of the combination (8a). Knowing what she had to do, Parker skillfully guided her mare, finishing clean and quick in 36.31 for the title of 2015 YJC Western League Six-Year-Old Champion. Parker, thrilled with the win, explained why Caramel is truly part of the Cross Creek Farms family. “My mom, Carol, bred her. I competed on both the dam and sire. The dam was a grand prix horse I had, this was her only foal. The sire I had for a short period of time as a six-year-old, he is a Darco x Chin Chin.” This pair will also compete in the upcoming Blenheim EquiSports $15,000 Six Year Old Young Horse Finals at the Blenheim International Jumping Festival at Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park at San Juan Capistrano. Nathalie Manning and Doriena Secure the Seven-Year-Old Title Having the same qualifying format as the other YJC divisions, 15 of the 20 seven-year-old entries returned for the third round. Only one entry had

zero faults coming into the final day, Misti Cassar and the spotted Selle Francais stallion, Little Indian. The third round changed the top spots a touch. Peter Petschenig with Consider 5 (Pam Bilek & Peter Petschenig, owners), Nathalie Manning and Doriena (owned by Idyllic Imports), and Kasey Ament with Soren Z (owned by KC Jump, LLC), came in with four faults each and all jumped clean in Round 3. Last to go, Cassar and Little Indian, with a score of zero, were unfortunately eliminated due to two refusals. The aforementioned four fault scores were tied and returned for a jump-off to determine the top three placings. Blazing the way with a fast time of 36.46, Petschenig and the Holsteiner stallion Consider 5 (Converter x Landor S), set a tough standard for the rest to match. Manning and the Dutch mare Doriena (Canturano x Grosso Z), executed a handy and clean jump-off track, taking the lead in a time of 35.09. Last in, Kasey Ament and the Zangersheide stallion Soren Z (Sandro Boy x Carthago), ultimately finished in third place with a 4 fault score, in a time of 37.00.

Nathalie Manning and Doriena\

Appreciative, Manning mentioned those that made this win possible. “I am fortunate to have some wonderful clients, Idyllic Imports, who have brought in two horses for me to ride. We bought Doriena about eight months ago,” she said. “She’s a really sweet mare on the ground, super cuddly, and she always tries hard. I’ve been fortunate enough to have Michelle Parker, Alex Alvarado, and Sal Alvarado help me. I want to thank my whole Acorn Farm team - the horses, grooms, family and friends.” Manning is also going to compete at the Blenheim International Jumping Festival in the Blenheim EquiSports $20,000 Seven Year Old Young Horse Finals in just under three weeks. Congratulations to all competitors on a superb week of showing at the Showpark All Seasons Tournament. Blenheim EquiSports moves back to San Juan Capistrano in September for two consecutive shows to wrap up their California season, the Blenheim Fall Tournament and the Blenheim International Jumping Festival. NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call (916) 939-0772 or visit this Internet Web site www.nationwideposting.com, using the file number assigned to this case 14-14036. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site.
