Red Skelton’s Horse Ranch for sale!

In the old days, many entertainers could do it all - singing, dancing, acting and comedy - such as Red Skelton. With a career spanning more than 70 years, Red began working at the age of seven in order to help support his family. His father, a clown with the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus, had died before he was born leaving the family destitute. From selling newspapers and other odd jobs to eventual minstrel shows to a showboat, to stock theatre to burlesque and the circus where his father had performed as a clown, Skelton never slowed down. When working for a traveling medicine show, his accidental falling off the stage made people laugh so hard it was incorporated into the show, and it was then that he knew what he wanted to do more than anything else - make people laugh. He moved on to Vaudeville and from there parlayed his talent into radio, television and film. Today, some are still familiar with The Red Skelton Show, which ran for 672 episodes and won the 1959 Golden Globe for Best TV Show. He also found his footing as an actor appearing in such

classics as the Dr. Kildare medical dramas, Ziegfeld Follies, Ship Ahoy and a multitude of others. A man of many talents and achievements, Skelton was a creative genius who excelled in writing stories, publishing six books. As an artist painting clowns, he made more money from the sale of his paintings, prints and lithographs than he did in television. Red Skelton also loved horses. So much so that he owned a 600acre horse ranch in the Anza Valley of Riverside, California. The ranch was laid out as a breeding operation and equipped for ease and function. Today the ranch is for sale with listing agent Star Evans of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. Surrounded by equestrian fencing, improvements include living arrangements of four houses of wood and stone and a three-studio bunk house. In addition to parking for at least 16 cars and various covered carports, there is a 10-car garage to peak the interest of collectors. The main house, surrounded by trees and green lawn features a

great room, vaulted ceilings, brick fireplaces, a sunny kitchen and rustic wood finishes. Overall there are eight bedrooms, eight baths and almost 10,000 square feet of living space for owners, family, guests and farm hands. Horse facilities include a warehouse, hay barns, equipment barns, stallion stable, indoor and outdoor riding arenas and facilities for visiting horses, ten wells, a threesided walk-in shelter and multiple

paddocks. The ranch is an ideal location to get away for privacy, quiet time, recreation, beautiful mountain views and still be close to Palm Springs and San Diego. Master comedian and man of many talents, Red Skelton died in 1997 at age 84. His horse ranch is now for sale, priced at $5.995 million. For More Information TopTenRealEstateDeals.com. Play Ball! Stadium Safety Tips…

“I love this time of year! Baseball season is now officially here. Whether you’re going to a professional baseball game or to your local neighborhood field, keep your eye on the ball and make safety a priority so that your stadium experience is more like a home run than a strikeout says Fire Chief Sam DiGiovanna.” First Pitch – Sometimes your team may not be so hot, but the weather may be. Keep hydrated with water and other fluids especially if you’re sweating and/or your seats are in the sun. Strike One – Whether it’s sunny or cloudy, there’s still the potential for sunburn. Don’t cry foul when you realize you’re getting burned. Speaking of fouls, foul balls and broken bats have the potential to enter the seating areas and concourses. Be aware of what’s going on so that you can avoid being hit by bats or balls that fly your way. Ball One – When a baseball is hit or thrown into the stands,

excitement ensues. Others will try to be the ‘all-star’ and want that ball. If it’s theirs be a good fielder and back off. If you’re sitting or standing near a railing don’t reach over the railing to attempt to catch the ball. It doesn’t take more than a second for an accident to happen while reaching for it. Strike Two – Look at the stadium’s seating chart to see where your seats are located so you can get an idea of what kind of clothing to wear. Dress in layers so that you can be comfortable no matter where you’re sitting. Bring a raincoat along if there’s a chance it could rain. Foul Ball? – Remember, “You don’t always have to catch the ball.” What I mean here is, when someone throws you a negative comment, look or attitude, drop it. It’s out of play. Forget about it. Maintain a good attitude, be patient and maintain sportsmanship conduct at all times. We’ll all be Champs if you do so. Practice this on and off the field!

South Coast Repertory’s 2018-19 Season Lineup Includes Sense and Sensibility, Sweeney Todd and M. Butterfly South Coast Repertory’s 2018-19 season opens with Jane Austen’s romantic classic Sense and Sensibility. The season also includes the awardwinning musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street; the clever comedy Native Gardens; the compelling drama M. Butterfly; the madcap comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike; the intriguing portrait of science pioneer Rosalind Franklin in Photograph 51; and the return of Southern California satirists Culture Clash. Subscriptions are currently on sale and single tickets will become available in June. More information is available at www.scr. org. “We’re enthusiastic about what next season has to offer,” said SCR Managing Director Paula Tomei. “The range of work is both compelling and entertaining and we look forward to the experience that our audiences and artists will have when they join together.” Associate Artistic Director John Glore said, “Our upcoming 201819 season celebrates the best in contemporary theatre, with great plays from Broadway and London’s West End and from some of SCR’s favorite artists—including David Henry Hwang, Karen Zacarías, Stephen Sondheim and Culture Clash.” Rounding out the theatre’s 55th season are two world premieres in the Pacific Playwrights Festival—to be announced at a later date—and the three-play Theatre for Young Audiences series, which includes The Velveteen Rabbit. On the Segerstrom Stage • Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen, adapted by Jessica Swale • Native Gardens by Karen Zacarías • Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Hugh Wheeler • M. Butterfly by David Henry Hwang • TBA world premiere for the Pacific Playwrights Festival On the Julianne Argyros Stage • Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang • Culture Clash, written and performed by Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas and Herbert Siguenza • Photograph 51 by Anna Ziegler • TBA world premiere for the Pacific Playwrights Festival Theatre for Young Audiences • Nate the Great: A New Musical by John Maclay and Brett Ryback • Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Rock Experience, based on the book Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed by Mo Willems, script and lyrics by Mo Willems, with music by Deborah Wicks La Puma • The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams Holiday Classic • A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, adapted by Jerry Patch. The annual showcase of new plays—the Pacific Playwrights Festival (PPF)—features seven new plays over a weekend in a combination of readings and full productions, April

26–28, 2019. The three-day festival attracts theatre professionals from across the nation—as well as local and regional new-play fans—drawn by the opportunity to see some of the best new works in the country. Over the course of more than two decades, PPF has presented nearly 140 plays by approximately 100 playwrights. At the holidays, it’s Orange County’s favorite, A Christmas Carol, with Hal Landon Jr. back for his 39th consecutive year as everyone’s favorite curmudgeon, Ebenezer Scrooge. Single tickets for A Christmas Carol go on sale to the public August 1; subscribers enjoy exclusive early access to these tickets. All dates and plays are subject to change. More information about the season is available online: www.scr. org. CHRONOLOGICAL LISTING FOR 2018-19 All dates and plays are subject to change. Sense and Sensibility By Jane Austen Adapted by Jessica Swale Sept. 1–29, 2018 Segerstrom Stage The Dashwood sisters—practical Elinor and impulsive Marianne— are of good social standing and marriageable age. When Father dies and their half-brother skimps on their inheritance, they are forced to leave their grand estate for a tiny, cold cottage. Just as life seems it’s bleakest, a handsome stranger arrives on horseback and the sisters are convinced their futures are secured. Follow Elinor and Marianne as they chase their dreams from Devonshire to London and back in this charming romantic classic. Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike By Christopher Durang Sept. 30– Oct. 21, 2018 Julianne Argyros Stage Vanya and Sonia share a country house where they fret endlessly—and amusingly—about their hapless lives. When Masha, their self-absorbed movie-star sister, and her much, much younger boy toy, Spike, visit for the weekend, the entire household gets hilariously upended. Rivalries are rekindled, resentments rage, the housekeeper blurts out strange prophecies and Masha announces she’s selling the house. A tonguein-cheek homage to Chekhov, this Tony Award-winning comedy was described as “deliciously madcap” by USA Today. Native Gardens. By Karen Zacarías Oct. 13–Nov. 10, 2018 Segerstrom Stage In this comedy of good intentions and bad manners, Pablo and Tania personify the American Dream— young, educated, a baby on the way and new owners of a suburban fixerupper. Virginia and Frank couldn’t be happier or more welcoming, especially when the new next-door neighbors want to replace an ugly chain link fence dividing their yards. But a dispute over the property line quickly spirals into an all-out war on taste, class and entitlement that the

Cincinnati Enquirer described as “bright and witty and clever.” Nate the Great A New Musical By John Maclay and Brett Ryback Nov. 2–18, 2018 Theatre for Young Audiences Nate the Great, the world’s greatest kid detective, loves solving mysteries—almost as much as eating pancakes. When Annie’s special painting of her dog, Fang, goes missing, Nate’s on a new case! Did Fang bury it? Is Rosamond, who prefers cats over dogs, up to foul play? Come along as Nate searches for clues and gathers the facts in this clever musical that teaches us to see the world in new ways. Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol Adapted by Jerry Patch Directed by John-David Keller Nov. 24–Dec. 24, 2018 Segerstrom Stage Nineteenth-century London comes to life when your family joins the SCR family for the holidays. Recapture the spirit of an old-fashioned Christmas with this timeless Dickens classic and all your favorite characters—Tiny Tim and the Cratchit family, the Fezziwigs, the Ghosts of Christmas past, present and yet-to-come—and, as always, Hal Landon Jr. as everyone’s favorite curmudgeon, Ebenezer Scrooge, for the 39th consecutive year. Culture Clash Written and performed by Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas and Herbert Siguenza. Dec. 30, 2018–Jan. 20, 2019 Julianne Argyros Stage Those bad boys of comedy are back at it, bringing their special style of irreverent, thought-provoking social satire with them. SCR audiences first experienced their smart, outrageous humor in a playful adaptation of The Birds and later with the wildly popular Culture Clash in AmeriCCa. With the world back under their microscope, expect laundry to be aired, public figures skewered and sacred cows poked. In other words: Classic Culture Clash! Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim Book by Hugh Wheeler Jan. 19–Feb. 16, 2019 Segerstrom Stage In a barber shop above Mrs. Lovett’s struggling pie shop, Sweeney Todd plots revenge on the lecherous judge who wronged him and his family. In the seedy underbelly of 19th-century London, desperate times lead to diabolical schemes— and strange alliances. With razorsharp wit and extraordinary songs like “Pretty Women” and “Not While I’m Around,” this Tony Award-winning masterpiece was proclaimed, “more fun than a graveyard on the night of the annual skeleton’s ball” by The New York Daily News. Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Rock Experience Based on the book Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed by Mo Willems Script and Lyrics by Mo Willems Music by Deborah Wicks La Puma Feb. 1–17, 2019 Theatre for Young Audiences

Wilbur is different from all the other Naked Mole Rats. He wears clothes—and he likes it. His friends think it’s ridiculous and needs to stop—that’s just a Naked Mole fact. After all, what will happen when Grand-Pah, the oldest and wisest elder in the colony finds out? Filled with tail-shaking good tunes, this outrageously fun musical proves it’s okay to be yourself. Rock on! Photograph 51 By Anna Ziegler March 3–24, 2019 Julianne Argyros Stage Rosalind Franklin was a British pioneer in science in the early 1950s, yet her groundbreaking role in the discovery of DNA’s double helix structure is still often overlooked. Based on a true story, Photograph 51 presents an intriguing portrait of a complex, courageous woman making her way in a male-dominated field. While rival teams of researchers compete for a breakthrough, Rosalind, focused and unbending, is locked in a race of her own. A hit in the West End, it was proclaimed “A triumph” by The Telegraph. TBA: A World Premiere Part of the Pacific Playwrights Festival March 30–April 27, 2019 Segerstrom Stage TBA: A World Premiere Part of the Pacific Playwrights Festival April 14–May 5, 2019 Julianne Argyros Stage M. Butterfly By David Henry Hwang May 11–June 8, 2019 Segerstrom Stage When this rich, compelling drama debuted on Broadway, it became an instant sensation, sweeping the Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards. A married French diplomat. A mysterious Chinese opera diva. A passionate 20-year affair. Inspired by true events, this break-out hit by the author of Chinglish and Golden Child proved much more than a steamy tale of seduction. Obsession, perception and the allure of fantasy make for a remarkable tale of espionage and betrayal described as “visionary” by The New York Times. The Velveteen Rabbit By Margery Williams May 24–June 9, 2019 Theatre for Young Audiences For nearly a century, this beloved classic has captivated and charmed children and adults, alike. Lonely and forgotten, a stuffed rabbit longs to be real. When another toy is lost, he quickly becomes a little boy’s new favorite. As the rabbit’s dapper appearance gets worn and shabby from play, a wonderful change begins to happen. This is a moving story about the power of love—and a little bit of magic. Table for Ten Culinary event raises $450,000 for charity Photos by Bob Hodson and Tony Lattimore One of the most enjoyable charity events that I have had the privilege to attend is the Table for Ten and this year was their 12th annual culinary spectacular for a sold-out crowd of 320 guests at Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort and Spa in Dana Point. The event attracts gourmet food and fine wine lovers from throughout Southern California for a culinary experience second to none. Orchestrated by KM Productions for deserving nonprofits in the area, guests enjoy a scrumptious five-course table-side feast, with superb wine pairings. Opening the ballroom doors, the first thing you see is thirty-two tables, each one beautifully decorated from each participating restaurant and individual gourmet food and wine experiences at each chef’s bidding. It was very exciting to go around each of the tables and see their creative work – so beautiful and inviting as each restaurant out did themselves. My guest and I were seated at the StillWater Restaurant table and enjoyed an amazing five course dinner from Chef Stephen Kling. He really is amazing explaining each dish as well as the the wine pairing that went with it. We started with an appetizer, Canadian Langoustine, Coconut Curry, Sweet corn relish with Cherry Stone Clams and Kaffir. Course number two gave us hand torn pasta, Cremini, Pecorino and Foie Gras. Next up was a salad with Leroy Fjord Steelhead Salmon, English Pea, Tomato, Fine herbs, Ikura and Basil Oil. The entry was an amazing melt-in-your-mouth Braised Wagyu Beef cheek with cauliflower puree, crisp leek and Honshiemji Mushroom. For dessert we enjoyed Affogato: Espresso, French Vanilla ice cream and crushed cookies. And each course was paired with a lovely wine – some came from from France, Italy, and the Sonoma Coast. The live auction was led by gavel girl DawnMarie Kotsonis featuring overthe-top opportunities. The Pelican Hill Resort experience went for $7500; it included an overnight stay in a luxurious four-bedroom 3580 square foot villa with around the clock butler service. Ten lucky guests or a family will stay and enjoy this getaway which includes two 50-minute massages or a round of golf and 10 guests will be treated to a Coliseum Pool and Grill Cabana Chef’s Dinner. Two lucky winners walked away with the Puerto Vallarta Escape valued at $10,000 as it was sold twice for $7000 each. Four nights and five days at the Villa Balboa Resort on Puerto Vallarta’s Gold Coast for up to 12 guests, this experience is pure luxury in a 12,000 square foot ocean front villa. Included is chamber maids, house men, English speaking concierge and administrator – talk about pampering! A highlight was an autographed guitar which went for $8500 – it was signed by nine music legends, such as Chuck Berry, Carlos Santana, BB King, Neil Young, Eric Clapton and Pete Townsend, as well as a 57-bottle fine wine raffle called “50 Shades of Grape.” Along with auction monies raised, dinner costs were absorbed by the restaurants and chefs, with special underwriting from event sponsors and a Fund-A-Need auction, making it possible to give nearly $450,000 in net proceeds, divided between the two deserving charities - The Teen Project and Vocational Visions. Among those attending who were integral to its success were The Teen Project Founder Lauri Burns as well as Title Sponsor Mike Danzi, Chairman/ CEO of Legacy Pharmaceuticals International. Danzi was honored, as was Chef Chair Rachel Haggstrom, executive chef of Balboa Bay Resort, for her longtime commitment to Table for Ten. Among business sponsors were Legacy Pharmaceuticals, Int’l, Preferred Hotels & Resorts (CEO Lindsey Ueberroth was present), Wahoo’s Fish Taco (Co-founder Ed Lee was present), Rutan & Tucker, Pacifica Hotels, SeatXChange, and more. The two charities were Vocational Visions and The Teen Project. Vocational Visions’ programs, services and personalized support develops the talents of adults with disabilities by creating pathways to employment, life-long learning and social inclusion. The Teen Project provides teens aging out of the foster care system the resources and support of an intact family to allow them to successfully transition to adulthood. PAY LESS TO ADVERTISE TO REACH THE HIGH INCOME HOMEOWNERS OF NEWPORT BEACH, BALBOA, CORONA DEL MAR, AND NEWPORT COAST WHO WOULD LIKE TO BUY FROM YOU 1. Newport News Readers can afford your very best! According to reliable sources such as the U.S. census bureau the area served by the Newport News is one of Orange County’s highest income groups. These affluent nearby homeowners in Newport Beach, Balboa, Corona del Mar, and Newport Coast have more money to spend and the time to spend it. Make sure that these readers are aware of your company and what you do by keeping a regular, affordable advertising message in the newspaper that all of them read every week 2.Why pay more to reach your most preferred customers? Smart business owners and marketing experts agree that the most expensive advertising is advertising that doesn’t work. Savvy business managers are wise to be concerned about high volume publications that don’t deliver a strong local audience that would bring you customers. Major daily newspapers like the Times and the Register reach nearly a million readers, but do you really need to pay their high prices to reach your customers in Newport News? While some glossy monthly magazines are stylish, their costly rates may not be realistic compared to choosing a highly effective newspaper like the Newport News which is received by your most likely preferred customers of high income homeowners with advertising that costs you far less money. The Newport News is attractive, effective and affordable. 3. Why do Newport News Readers read the Newport News? Since 1907 The Newport News has been the favorite weekly publication of Newport Beach. On July 15, 1997, the Superior Court of Orange County adjudicated

(approved) The Newport News as the official newspaper for The City of Newport Beach and the County or Orange. That’s why you regularly see stories about the Newport News Chamber of Commerce, and prominent Newport News residents in the Newport News. So when you advertise In the Newport News you get the most popular weekly for Newport Beach readers. 4.U S Post office plus selected delivery makes this newspaper special! While everyone knows that the Newport News is delivered to nearly every single family residence in Newport Coast by the United States Post office, the Newport News is also hand-delivered each week to local Newport News area businesses, professional offices, library, and several centrally located news racks other popular gathering spots where Newport News residents can easily pick up a copy. 5.Who is this woman that raises hundreds of millions of dollars and how can she help me grow my business? If you don’t know her already, get to know Kelly Bennett, the top society columnist in Orange County. She also has the top rated radio show and television program “Breakfast with Gary and Kelly. Readers eagerly await her weekly column in the Newport News which features major charity events where the beautiful people

of Orange County gather for fashionable luncheons and dinners which regularly raise millions of dollars for worthy causes. Permit us to say that placing your advertising where it is seen by people who can afford to give away millions is the best advertising purchase you will ever make. Read Kelly Bennett’s “Society Scene “column every week in the Newport News and see why. 6. Free Online Advertising Newport News Version each week. While many people still prefer to have a hard copy of the Newport News to hold in their hand, our online version is equally popular for those who want to access our entire newspaper on their smartphone, tablet or computer. Your regular ad will appear in our online edition at no extra charge. Just click on the Thenewportnews.com. 7. How Fast Will this Home be sold? We’d like to share some actual quotes from local Newport News area realtors: BUYERS CAME IN WAVING the ad that appeared in the Newport News.” Two factors determine how fast a house will sell: 1.Choose a skilled real estate professional 2. Advertise it in the Newport News Whether you are selling homes or other desirable goods or services you should consider the Newport News for your advertising.

The amount may be greater on the day of sale. Trustor: WILLIAM K KNOX, A MARRIED MAN AS HIS SOLE & SEPARATE PROPERTY Duly Appointed Trustee: LAW OFFICES OF LES ZIEVE Deed of Trust recorded 6/16/2006 as Instrument No. 2006000405858 in book , page of Official Records in the office of the Recorder of Orange County, California, Date of Sale:4/13/2018 at 3:00 PM Place of Sale: On the front steps to the entrance of the Orange Civic Center, 300 E. A.P.N #.: 442-463-29 The undersigned Trustee disclaims any liability for any incorrectness of the street address or other common designation, if any, shown above. If no street address or other common designation is shown, directions to the location of the property may be obtained by sending a written request to the beneficiary within 10 days of the date of first publication of this Notice of Sale. NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call (714) 8489272 or visit this Internet Web site www.elitepostandpub.com, using the file number assigned to this case 14-29601. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale. SB 54 prompts Sheriff’s Department to publicly post inmate release dates

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department will make publicly available inmate release dates through the existing “Who’s in Jail” online database. This action will enhance communication between the Sheriff’s Department and our law enforcement partners to remove dangerous offenders from our community. Senate Bill 54, which took effect on January 1, 2018, placed restrictions on collaboration between local custody operations and federal law enforcement authorities. The legislation specifically prohibited local law enforcement’s communication with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on the release of certain undocumented offenders. This provision of the law increases the likelihood of dangerous offenders being released back into the community. The law, however, does not limit information that is available to the public. SB 54 provides sheriffs with the discretion to respond to ICE’s requests for notification of the pending release of specified serious offenders under the TRUST Act. Sheriff Hutchens directed staff to respond to requests from ICE for any criminal who meets the specifications. From Jan. 1 to March 19, 168 inmates who fall within

this provision have been released to ICE custody. Sheriff Hutchens joined law enforcement leaders across the state in opposing SB 54 when the legislation was first proposed in December 2016, as provisions in the bill hindered collaborative efforts to remove serious offenders from the community. Additionally, the law is inconsistent with widely accepted best practices of open communication amongst all levels of law enforcement. Both Sheriff Hutchens and Undersheriff Don Barnes actively engaged with legislators to encourage defeat of the bill. While these efforts resulted in the removal of some harmful sections of the bill, the final version limited communication in a way that puts the public at risk. “SB 54 makes local law enforcement’s job more difficult and requires bureaucratic processes that could allow dangerous individuals to fall through the cracks of our justice system,” said Sheriff Sandra Hutchens. “My department, however, remains committed to cooperating fully with federal authorities in all areas where I have discretion to remove serious criminals from our community.”
