LANDSCAPING UPGRADE PLANNED AT SAN CLEMENTE LIBRARY The landscaping at the San Clemente Library will undergo a renovation as part of the City of San Clemente’s comprehensive plan for transforming the exterior library space in conjunction with the County’s extensive interior improvements currently underway. The San Clemente Branch is part of the Orange County Library System. In order to create a more sustainable landscape, 15 trees of varying sizes will be removed and replaced with 22 drought tolerant, California native specimens. The existing trees are in poor health, have overgrown their planter areas and are reaching the end of their useful life. Also, the plant palette around the building will be removed and replaced with drought tolerant material and the irrigation system will be upgraded to maximize water efficiency. The project will began on July 16, 2015 and be completed by August 7, 2015. Rod’s Tree Service and TruGreen LandCare are the contractors the City selected to complete this project.

Shortly after Orange County was created in 1889, the Orange County Community Fair Corporation was formed. This group put on a small fair in 1890 that included a horse race and a few exhibits in Santa Ana. In 1894, another group, the Orange County Fair Association, Inc., took over The first Orange County Fairs
were primarily livestock exhibitions and horse races. At the turn of the century, a “carnival of products” was added and the Fair became an annual event. In ensuing years, the Fair was held in Santa Ana, but after World War I it was moved to Huntington Beach for two years and then back to temporary grounds on East Fruit Street in Santa Ana. In 1916, the Fair was taken over by the newly organized Orange County Farm Bureau. The first OC Fair Board was elected in 1925 and the Fair relocated to Anaheim, across the street from the Orange County Hospital. In 1925, a rodeo and carnival were added to the Fair.
OC Fair Clowns After World War II, the state formed the 32nd District Agricultural Association and made it responsible for the Fair. The state then purchased land occupied by the Santa Ana Army Air Base and some of it was earmarked for a new fairground. The Fair was first held at the new site in 1949 and it soon was designated as the permanent Fairgrounds. In 1953, the City of Costa Mesa was incorporated - the new city included the Fair’s location. From 1949 to the present, the OC Fair has grown from a small, community, fiveday celebration to a 23-day festival that is one of Orange County’s most eagerly awaited annual events.

TEAM NIKOS 4th GRADE TEAM WINS AAU NATIONAL BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Team Nikos Three-Peats as South Orange County’s 4th Graders Advance to the National Spotlight. Team Nikos’ 10U basketball team, comprised of 9 South Orange County 4th graders won the AAU Division III National Championships. Invitations to the championship tournament were based on the win-loss record for all qualifying West Coast AAU teams. This win marks the third straight AAU title for Team Nikos Basketball Academy. Team Nikos 4th grade team members are Gage Burnett (Ladera Ranch), Bryce Ford (Laguna Beach), Jackson Gray (Coto De Caza), Niko Lopez (Ladera Ranch), Trey Tolmaire (Trabuco Canyon), Blake Gray (Coto De Caza), Blake Sullivan (Laguna Beach) , Zach Davidson (Mission Viejo ), and Ethan Rhee (San Clemente). Coaches Jameel Mahmud and Prince Swafford. Team Nikos advanced three of its flagship teams to the National Championships- 10U, 11U and 12U. Both the 11U and 12U teams took 2nd place in their respective divisions. There were 49 teams competing overall for titles over the
weekend. The 10U Team Nikos team beat Team Dynasty from Oregon, SGV from the San Gabriel Valley and the Dominators from Rancho Cucamonga to advance to the championship game. Team Nikos held a solid lead throughout the first half of the championship game, but Team Dynasty took over the lead in the third quarter. The two teams battled
back and forth in the fourth quarter with Nikos trailing by 2 points and 8 seconds left in the game. Nikos’ Bryce Ford made a coast to coast layup that tied the score and sent the game into overtime. With 18 seconds left on the clock in overtime and the Dynasty up again by one point, Nikos’ center Zach Davidson had a clutch steal against Team Dynasty and fed the ball to shooter, Bryce
Ford, who executed another perfect layup for the 2 points to clinch the victory for Nikos. The final score was 51-50. Team Nikos Basketball Academy is the premiere basketball program in South Orange County, training athletes ages 4 to 18. Further information, please contact Steve Williams 949.315.9566

DONATE YOUR GENTLY USED EVENING GOWN & MAKE A DREAM COME TRUE FOR A MILITARY SPOUSE!
The Marine Corps Birthday Ball commemorates the creation of the Marine Corps on November the 10th 1775. Every year, around the world, Marines celebrate this day with a traditional Cake Cutting Ceremony and Formal Ball. Unfortunately the cost of an evening gown is beyond the financial reach of many Military Spouses.
Bring your gently used gowns to the Community Center in San Clemente before August 20th. They will be chosen by the ladies at the annual Ball Gown Give Away at Camp Pendleton. For further information call Carla at 949-357-5555 or scsupportsusmc@hotmail.com. The San Clemente News

Human Options’ Serious Fun Nets $394,000 Event co-chairs Demetria Moore, Artyn Gardner and Tamie Rus Photos by: Lisa Renee Baker Human Options raised some serious funds at their Serious Fun fundraiser at the Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach. The Irvine-based nonprofit netted $394,000 and honored Keith Swayne and daughter Anne Swayne Keir for their significant support of Human Options’ mission of working to stop the cycle of domestic violence in Orange County. This year’s theme, Black Tie Masquerade, was an inspiration for nearly 400 guests who enjoyed a silent auction and cocktail hour with live theatrical entertainers, special awards program, live auction and dancing. Community leaders Artyn Gardner, Demetria Moore and Tamie Rus served as event co-chairs. Honorary chairs Don Crevier and Laguna Beach Mayor Robert Whalen introduced the 2015 Dove Award honorees - Keith Swayne and Anne Swayne Keir - and shared their lifelong friendship with the family and significant philanthropic support of many causes. The award also honors the memory of Judy Swayne, who passed away on November, 29, 2014.Keith and Anne continue Judy’s vision representing David and President Emeritus Victoria Collins, Ph.D. future generations of philanthropists and community leaders. The Swayne Family has modeled a powerful commitment to philanthropy for the past 30 years. Founder of the Orange County Community Foundation, Judy served on the board of directors of Human Options for many years and was board president in 1986. Keith provides leadership to a number of key nonprofit organizations including board positions at Whittier College, Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach, Naturebridge, Orange County Human Relations Community Partners and the Orange County Community Foundation. Anne, the current board president of the Swayne Family Foundation, is developing a strong presence for the foundation in her home state of Hawaii. She currently serves on the boards of The Hawaii Arts Alliance, Hawaii Public Radio, Kua and Mental Health America. After the awards program, an elegant gourmet dinner featured a choice of pan seared beef filet, crab crusted barramundi or vegetarian wild mushroom ravioli. The decadent desserts were a chocolate mango gateaux with salted caramel and masked tiramisu with cocoa coulis and crème anglicize. Human Options CEO and co-founder Vivian Clecak then took the stage and shared the vision of Human Options. A vision that includes their core values for the community. Safety, healing and a way forward for families Keith Swayne and Anne Swayne Serious Fun happened during affected by domestic violence. Keir with Vivian Clecak (front) the LIVE auction! A moving video was shown that shared a mom and daughter’s experience at Human Options’ emergency shelter followed by their live appearance at the event and personal thanks to attendees. Jim Nye led a rousing live auction with top items including a weekend at the Balboa Bay Club with a Ferrari, a Las Vegas VIP Experience in a chartered plane and a VIP package to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Two extravagant Hawaiian vacations and a behind-the-scenes tour of OC Central Jail and lunch with Sheriff Sandra Hutchens were also auctioned. The mission of Human Options is to provide safe haven and life changing programs to help abused women, their children and families rebuild their lives, while working with the community to break the cycle of domestic violence. Now in its 34th year, Human Options provides a full continuum of services to stop the violence – from prevention and early intervention programs to emergency shelter and long-term transitional housing. Over 20,000 clients are served annually and independent academic research consistently verifies that 90% of their residential clients continue to be violence free one year or more after graduating from the program. SO CAL ARTIST TIMOTHY J. CLARK UNVEILS COMMISSIONED PORTRAIT OF CHIEF JUDGE SANDRA LYNCH OF THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE FIRST CIRCUIT IN BOSTON Southern California native and renowned artist Timothy J. Clark was recently commissioned to paint the portrait of the Honorable Sandra L. Lynch, Chief Judge of the First Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston. The 34” x 46” oil portrait was unveiled on June 4, 2015 at the John Joseph Moakley Courthouse in Boston’s Seaport District with Clark and his wife Marriott in attendance. Chief Judge Lynch’s family and friends and many other distinguished guests gathered to see the portrait for the first time. Presiding Judge Jeffrey Howard welcomed four speakers: Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States Stephen G. Breyer; Retired Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States David H. Souter; and two of her former clerks, Attorney Jack Pirozzolo of Sidley Austin in Boston, and Attorney E. Brantley Webb of Mayer Brown in Washington, D.C. Two other former clerks, Patrick Shin, Associate Dean of Suffolk Law School, in Boston, and Attorney Sarah Burg of Foley Hoag in Boston, unveiled the portrait. The painting is now a part of the permanent collection
of the Moakley Federal Courthouse, and hangs in the en banc courtroom. Chief Judge Lynch was nominated to the Boston-based court by Senator Ted Kennedy and was appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1995. She was the first woman to serve on the Court and the first woman to become Chief Judge of the Court. The New York Times has reported that Judge Lynch’s opinions were among the most cited of federal court of appeal decisions, and U.S. Law Week has called her “one of the most influential judges in the country”. This portrait commemorates Judge Lynch’s remarkable milestones. On June 15, Judge Lynch ended her seven-year tenure as Chief Judge of the First Circuit. The following day, Judge Jeffrey R. Howard began his term as Chief Judge. Timothy J. Clark is noted for his watercolors, oils, drawings and portraits. His work is represented in numerous public and private collections including the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, the Library of Congress, and the Museum of the City of New York. His work has been featured in solo museum exhibitions across the country, most recently

and that Chinese artists began to command attention in the global arena. All artists in this exhibition were born after 1976 the end of the Cultural Revolution. Almost all of them are products of the One Child Policy and have grown up in a country with a high-powered market economy. All of them, whether educated in the West or not, have been exposed to global art movements through the Internet and increasingly liberalized
education at China’s art academies. They are ambitious, determined, and technically sophisticated with much to say about their homeland. NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering
bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of the resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or• more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may contact Trustee’s Assistance Corporation for information regarding the trustee’s sale or visit its website www.salesrrack.tdsf. com or call 888-988- 6736 for information regarding the sale of this property. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the website. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the schedule sale. The beneficiary of said Lien hereto executed and delivered to the undersigned, a written Declaration of Default and Demand for Sale, and a written Notice of Default and Election to Sell. The undersigned caused said Notice of Default and Election to Sell to be recorded in the County where the real property is located. Date: July 1, 2015 Association Lien Services, as Trustee P.O.
