The village hall was bustling with activity and chatter on Wednesday afternoon, 1st March, when 37 members gathered for the final meeting of Weybourne WI

Celia Howe, President, welcomed everyone to the meeting and we began by singing Jerusalem A short business meeting followed Jean Benham was awarded the ‘Member of the Year ’ trophy and Sue Webber received the competition trophy and shield. Celia Howe, Heather Dakin, Maggie Parker and Pat King were all presented with bouquets, in recognition of their long service as committee members Sue Lee read a poem which she had written describing her first impressions of Weybourne WI.

Our speaker for the afternoon was Mike Ayden, Treasurer of the charity Cromer Community and Hospital Friends, he was accompanied by his assistant Margaret Mike spoke about the

Cromer Community and Hospital Friends became a registered charity in 1971 and has received many generous donations and bequests since then, 100% of which go entirely towards funding services at the hospital.

Celia Howe gave the vote of thanks and presented Mike with a cheque for £560 00, the proceeds of our fund raising during the past 18 months She requested that this should be donated to the MacMillan Cancer Unit at Cromer history of Cromer Hospital from when the first hospital opened in 1866, right through to the present day. 2023 marks 147 years of continuous service from a hospital in Cromer

The afternoon concluded with members enjoying tea and delicious cakes The raffle was drawn before everyone departed.

As no officers were appointed at the AGM, which was held in February, Weybourne WI is to be suspended and there will be no further meetings
