Architectural Studies Professor Jason Jiang Fall 2020
Biography
My name is Ryan Hough and I am an Architetural Studies Major. My interests include hiking and fishing. I am a huge fan of the outdoors and work with a landscape company when I am not in school. I discovered an interest with design early on, and continued it up to high school with Architecture and CAD classes. Looking to persue it, I applied for Thomas Jefferson University. From there I have had the opportunites to better understand the interworkings of architecture and improve my skills as a designer.

Mini Project- An Operative Dictionary Description
Initial Sketches
The program used in this project was Rhino 6. Throughout this project students learned and familiarized themselves with analog and three dimensional methods to create a 3D space. Beginning with sketches of a basic shape or form and continuing to add and subtract to alter shape into its final form within 10 interations. From there they replicated those shapes and transitions in the Rhino Program.

Exploring Space- A Small Space Description
Inspiration for design
In this project, students will chose a small project and created iterations as well as a 3D model. The space would have an interior and exterior. Depending on the focus of your design major you either started from a model and worked your way into a more detailed visualization. Using computerÂaidedÂdesign programs, students explored space, form, lighting, materials, site, and context to convey their design The design will be situated in an urban environment.

Row House Project Description Throughout the semester, students studied and learned about the neighborhood of Sharswood in Phladelphia. From there, students were assigned a client and a plot of land in which to design a row house for them. Each client had specific needs for their house and students were to accomodate that as well as fulfilling the required zoning information for the structure.

CABE Cabin Competition 2020 Description
Selected Cabin
This project was a competition between students. They were to replicate a single modern room cabin. Students must display clarity of its visual communication, documentation and mastery of graphic techniques for their selected cabin. The requirements for this project include; plans, sections, elevations, axonometric and perspectives as well as displaying information regarding the cabin.

History Advocacy Arts Community Center Description Students were tasked with transforming the corner lot of North 24th Street and Cecil B Moore Ave into a place where the community of Sharswood PA can interact. Currently two historical structures sit there alongside a vacant lot, one of them being the Dox Thrash House. Students had to transform the space while still keeping the original facades of the structures. In understanding how to impact the neighborhood, students were asked to come up with 5 different experiences to drive their design.
5 Experiences 1). Develope a space for the youth to learn and create artwork 2). Develop a creative area for people to interact. (Plaza and theatre/ Lecture hall) 3). Incorporate a garden to bring the community together and provide fresh food for the neighborhood. 4). Make the library accessible 5). Give the Senior community a space to play and enjoy music
