Curating Queer came from an exploration of the intentions behind queer and gay space creation, and how queer space allows for an inclusive, diverse, community. Yet in the wake of the sh*tshow that was 2020, Coronavirus and its many talons of misery, queer spaces as we knew them, closed their doors for good. For many LGBTIQ+ individuals across the UK we lost not only our local pub, but our communities, our sanctuaries, our families.
Curating Queer asks you to broaden your definition of Queer Space, to think beyond the pounding basslines, overtly heterosexual bouncer, and crowded bathroom stalls. Instead, Curating Queer asks you to consider Queer Space as room for community, exploration, and introspection. Consider Queer Space as a capacity to define, question and reimagine queer.
