Rochdale Canal Parasite House The house is designed to be a urban heaven for two people to get away for a short period of time. The narrowness of the structure and the natural materials chosen is a way of fostering sense of intimacy and creating a restoravtive impact for the inhabitants.
Site M1 5LE The site is by the Rochdale canal in the gap between the two buildings. Bus: Bridgewater Hall Tram: Deansgate-Castlefeild Train: Oxford Road Enter from the north (Great Bridgewater Street) or south (Rochdale Canal Tow Path).

Site Analysis Concept Since ground level of the site has limited direct sunlight (only during the noon of summer), my concept is to create a parisite structure between the two buildings to maximise sunlight. The height for the structure is shown on the image on the right and is decided based on the shadow diagram

Concept The key concept is a skybridge like structure between the two buildings. The distance of the gap is a little over 10 meters, and thus the floor area of house will be 10 meters long and 1.5 meters wide. I then separated it into 5 section of 2x1.5 meters blocks. Finally the layout is decided by considering the aspects shown in the diagram below.
Less Hygenic The middle area is a continous clean zone
