Your dog may understand more than you realize
M
an’s best friend not only hears the meaning of human speech, but also perceives the emotion behind it. Have you ever felt that dogs can read people’s minds ? Does your dog get clingy when you’re depressed or feeling sick? When you get angry at them does your dog go and hide?
Dogs do, however, feel the emotions coming from humans. They feel our emotions as energy radiating from our bodies. The dog knows if you are sad, nervous, stressed, happy, calm, strong-minded, confident, passive, anxious, hyper, meek, etc.
However, what we all need to understand is, a dog does not read negative energy coming from a human in the true meaning of the emotion. The dog simply reads negative energy as weakness and reacts accordingly.
“
Dogs are the best mind readers
”
Dogs always seem to know when you’re upset and when you need extra love, even though they hardly understand a word of what you say. For instance when you feel sad, your dog will immediately pick up on this and adjust his behavior accordingly. He may become more subdued than usual, lose interest in his toys and even refuse his food.
10
Dogs will quietly observe you from a corner of the room. After a while, he may come over and lie down at your feet or gently rest his head in your lap. Many dogs will even try to lick away tears as they fall. A dog’s master is the center of his entire world, so sensing your feelings of sadness will have an effect on him too. At times ,dogs can sense your intentions. It turns out that dogs use eye contact and gaze to figure out what people are thinking. They will follow your gaze to determine what is on your mind that you don’t want him to know.
Sounds Not only are dog’s ears more sensitive than yours, but they can also hear a wider range of frequencies. If you’ve ever wondered how your dog seems to anticipate your arrival home, this is probably how. Their radar ears pick up the subtle sounds of cars braking, footfalls on the sidewalk, the jingle of keys. These sounds may be nearly inaudible to us.
The truth about dogs Dogs and humans have very similar social systems. We both live in tight-knit families who protect each other and are very loyal. We both have a complex language of facial expressions, body posture, and vocalizations that promote bonding.
Dogs that have spent the vast majority of their lives being spoiled and adored by their owner will understand, to some extent, if attention suddenly shifts to a new priority.
“ Dog’s and Human’s have similar social system. ”
Having pointed out that dogs are able to recognize and cope with shifts in your priorities, remember that they don’t want to be neglected. The most important thing in the life of your pet is you.
Body Language Our dogs can read us like a book. It’s commonly said that around 90% of human communication isnonverbal (and only 10% is verbal).
11
Your posture, head carriage, gait, and of course facial expressions speak volumes about your mood and motivation. It may seem like he is not noticing but he actually notes every move of his master. Dogs have the tendency to ‘smell’ fear. it is also true that they intuitively understand the body language associated with it.A dog’s sensitive nose can pick up on subtle scents, such as adrenalin, that he associates with fear and danger. Dogs, like humans, have a customary reaction to fear. Their hair stands up, their pupils dilate, their lips curl, and their stance changes. When they associate their fear posturing with human fear posturing, they gain an understanding of what humans look like when they are afraid. Combine this with their awesome sense of smell and it’s no wonder that dogs can so easily detect fear.

D
ogs are considered to be Man’s best friend. Dogs are those furry four-legged animals who cannot speak to us yet are ready to give people uncommitted love, asking for nothing else in return except a bit of food, water, a place to put their head down at night and maybe a bit of love in return. So it seems only fair to honor dogs with their own special day.
Origin National Dog Day was founded by the National Dog Day Foundation. The motto of the foundation calls for the saving of 10,000 dogs – a day at a time. This is a day to honor dogs. One might wonder why so much importance is given to just dogs. There are guide dogs who lead the blind, sniffer dogs who risk their life sniffing out bombs and drugs, watchdogs who protect us and our property and the list just goes on and on. So here literally, every dog has its day. Dogs have earned a respectable place in society. Therefore, dogs are honored on National Dog Day. There may be dog shows organized on National Dog Day. If there is one near to where you live, then you can enter your canine companion in it. Even if there is no dog show, you can treat your dog in an extra-special way on this day. Spend some quality time with your pooch and give him or her some special treats. National Dog Day is a day when the dogs that are underprivileged are put into focus. There will be many donation drives to collect funds for animal shelters. So, whether you have a dog or not, you can involve yourself this day by making a small donation for our less-importunate furry friends. This day brings into focus the sad fact of the huge number of dogs being abandoned and brought to shelters and the numerous healthy dogs being euthanized on a daily basis due to lack of financial resources to keep them alive. National Dog Day also highlights the disadvantages of pure bred dogs. On this day focus is made on the need to adopt common dogs rather than the pure bred dogs from dog farms where dogs are mass-produced like chickens resulting in physically and mentally weak animals.

Keeping Your Dog Busy I
n order to be well trained and happy pets, dogs need both mental and physical stimulation on a daily basis. Mental stimulation keeps your dog’s mind active, thereby improving brain function and protecting against cognitive decline. Activities that challenge and focus the brain, help build “Brain Reserve”, a quality related to the brain’s ability to reorganise itself and build new connections. Mental stimulation is as important to your pets as the opportunity to run and play. Many of the problems reported to dog trainers such as stealing items, jumping up,inappropriate chewing, digging etc,can be the result of under-stimulated or bored dogs.Involve your dog in as much as activities possible and keep him active at all possible times.
18
Ways to entertain your dogs : Work on a new trick.Every time you engage your dog in a training session, you are providing him with a mental challenge. Search around for new tricks to work on. Just give him basic commands and check whether he reacts to it. Provide him with brain-teasing toys. Brain teasers, like the Treat Hunter Puzzle, gives dogs the opportunity to problem solve and use some of the functions that they don’t ordinarily use in their brains. Classical music can calm and soothe a dog’s nerves. Provide your canine with a soundtrack while you’re away by creating a Spotify playlist of relaxing classical symphonies.
Chew Time :Dogs of all ages need to chew. Both wild and domestic dogs spend hours chewing to keep their jaws strong and their teeth clean. They also chew for fun, for stimulation and to relieve anxiety. Whether you have a puppy or an adult dog, it’s important to provide a variety of appropriate and attractive chew toys, like natural marrow bones, rawhide.
Tug-of-war: Playing tug with your dog can provide a wonderful outlet for her natural canine urges to grab and pull on things with her mouth. You can also use this game to exercise your dog and teach her important lessons, such as how to listen to you when she’s excited. For tips on how to play and important rules to follow.
Hide and Seek: It migh be a usual game to play around , but it helps in keeping your doggie more active. Especially when you play it with your pet’s favorite things he gets more excited.Show your dog his favourite toy before you hide it somewhere he can reach, then watch as he really puts his nose to work! Keep changing your hiding spot for hours of fun. Go Walkies :Take your dog out for a walk so that he can explore the world with all his senses.
19
It’s important to keep your dog stimulated, especially if he is left alone for all hours of the day. Keeping your dog sharp can extend his life by fighting canine cognitive disfunction. Whenever you find time just spend with your furrry friends .If you leave them alone make sure that they are surrounded by their favorite toys or somthing that would keep them engaged. At the same time should see to that they don’t work or play more.Making them work more can also have a bad sideeffect on them. Spend quality time with your pets, even in your busy schedule just alot a little time for your pets and it may make a big difference in your pets life.
The Ultimate Grooming - Top to Toe canine care
A
long with a proper diet, plenty of exercise, lots of love and regular visits to your veterinarian, grooming is an important factor in responsible pet guardianship and will help to keep your pet in tip-top condition.
And although some pet guardians opt to leave grooming up to the professionals, it’s a task that is not as daunting as you may think and it offers a valuablebonding opportunity between you and your pet.
Dog fur tells a lot about a dog’s health.Grooming is more than washing your dog’s fur and giving it a trim. It’s a head-to-toe spruce up and it’s the perfect opportunity to make sure that everything looks clean and healthy and for you to learn what is normal for your pet.
The main reason for grooming is to decrease the chances of various health problems such as thrush ,scratches and skin problems. To monitor the dogs’ health by checking for cuts, heat , swelling or any illness.Reducing the increase of external parasites on your dog and gor general cleanliness.

Brushing
Teeth Brushing
Brushing your dog not only removes excess fur and dirt, but it also helps to prevent tangles and conditions their coat by spreading their natural oils. Your pet’s coat length and type will determine how often you should brush and what type of tools are appropriate. Work your way from your dog’s head to his tail and make sure to brush all layers – not just the top one. Brushing is a convenient time to check your dog’s fur and skin for signs of fleas, ticks and other external parasites, lumps, bumps or scratches that may need veterinary attention.
Teeth brushing is as difficult as nail trimming , but it’s extremely important to your dog’s overall health. Some experts say it can add up to two years to your pet’s life. To keep your dog’s teeth and gums healthy, regular brushing (aim for at least three times a week) is recommended. With the right plan and a little (okay – maybe a lot) of patience, your dog can learn to tolerate this important habit. Like nail trimming, teaching a pet to tolerate having his teeth brushed is a gradual process. Start with getting your dog accustomed to having his mouth touched, then work your way up to actually brushing with a brush and paste. Remember to only use dental products that are approved for use in dogs, though, as human products can be very harmful to them.
Bathing Choose a shampoo that’s appropriate for your pet’s age, skin and coat type (don’t forget to check for animal – and earth-friendliness). Secure your pet in a non-slip tub or basin, then get to work. Most dogs are not huge fans of bath time, so work quickly, but gently and use plenty of praise throughout the process (treats help, too, as does an additional set of hands!). Be sure to keep water and shampoo out of your dog’s eyes, ears and mouth.Washing too frequently can actually dry out their skin. Once a month is sufficient for most breeds.
Ear Cleaning
Nail Trimming
Ears should be checked regularly to make sure they’re clean and healthy and grooming time is a perfect opportunity to do so. With a gentle touch, inspect the inside of your dog’s ears. A healthy ear will appear light pink, with no signs of debris or irritation. If your dog’s ears look dirty, you can clean them with a cotton ball dampened with hydrogen peroxide, mineral oil or a specialized ear-cleaning solution. Don’t ever stick cotton swabs or any other objects into your dog’s ear! If you notice discharge, swelling, redness, odors, hair loss or dark brown or black wax, this could indicate a problem and you should seek advice from a trusted veterinarian.
Trimming a dog’s nails is often the most unnerving step in the grooming process – and for good reason. If you trim a dog’s nail too short, they can bleed, but if you don’t trim them often enough, he’s at risk for problems like a nail break, infection, or an altered gait. The trick to becoming a nail trimming pro is to teach your dog to associate nail trims with things he loves, like toys, treats and lots of positive praise. And while you’ve got your dog’s paws in your hand, don’t forget to give them a quick once-over to inspect the pads and spaces in-between the toes. Don’t expect too much from yourself or your pet right away. It may take a few tries for you to get the technique down and for your pet to feel comfortable with you handling his or her feet.
