NEW VOICES For far too long, the traditional art world has been slow to recognize the achievements of artists of color, women artists, and those working outside of major art centers or without a formal art education.

Adam Collier Noel in his studio. See his artwork on p. 16

But at Saatchi Art, inclusion has always been part of our DNA. To celebrate our continuing commitment to equity and equal representation, two-thirds of the artists featured in this special edition catalog are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color, and more than half are women. Join us in discovering 100 of the most talented emerging artists making work today.

VISION A R IES — FE ATU RE D A R T I ST

DAVID DYETT With a focus on inclusion and how implicit biases can shape our perception of others, David Dyett uses the familiar genre of portraiture to highlight both our similarities and unique differences as individuals. Even through the simplicity of a lone figure against a sparse backdrop, David manages to convey the complicated nature of identity and our understanding of one another. Based in Toronto, Canada, David gathers inspiration from city life and personal relationships, working with oils and acrylics to confront issues in queer culture.

— David studied fine art through the Art Access

Program at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver.

— His works are held in private collections around

the world, including in the US, Australia, and South America.

HUMAN FORM When we look at a figurative painting, we can’t help but engage in a back-and-forth

with the subject. But often we don’t see ourselves reflected back in the works. These

emerging artists embrace the thriving tradition of portraiture to showcase their identities or communities in new and refreshing ways.

He combines elements of photorealism, cubism, and fashion design to create his abstract portraits. Piecing together dissimilar facial features, his work speaks to unrealistic social pressures toward perfectionism. — His work has been exhibited at the

Ontario Museum of History & Art in California, Spectrum Miami Art Fair, and most recently at the Los Angeles Art Show. — Otha’s work has been featured in various

publications including LA Weekly, Buzzfeed, Complex Magazine, Juxtapoz Magazine, and Hi-Fructose Magazine, among others.

Working with discarded plant- and animal-based materials, her work connects with the natural patterns found in nature, from the repeating spines on a sea urchin, to the concentric rings found in an aged tree. —

In 2009 Ana was awarded 1st place in the 11th International Textile Design Contest presented by ATEVAL.

While studying textiles in the Amazonian region, Ana was a part of a project that aimed to provide women a steady income for their households through arts and crafts.
