David Fredrik Moussallem

TORONTO, CANADA
David Fredrik Moussallem tells stories from the streets. Born in Finland and now living in Toronto, he finds inspiration for his mixed media paintings and collages in the city itself, tearing down posters and flyers he comes across and exploring local subcultures during his travels. His careful balance of color, space, and typography stems from his background as a designer – he studied advertising and graphic design before committing himself to painting. David’s work has been published in Condé Nast’s The World of Interiors and German Art Annual’s Internationale Kunst Heute – 2016. He has had exhibitions in Toronto, the US, and Paris, and had his first solo show in New York in 2016. Saatchi Art named David an Invest in Art artist in 2014 and has since featured his works at the Affordable Art Fair New York. His works are held in private collections around the world.
“I’m always excited to find talented new artists and am thrilled our enthusiasm for David’s work is shared by collectors all over the world.” Rebecca Wilson, Chief Curator and VP, Art Advisory

Stephanie Rivet
15
16
MONTRE AL , CANADA
Spontaneity is at the core of Stephanie Rivet’s practice. Inspired by nature, her aqueous, vibrant abstract paintings are reflections of her feelings and intuition. She experiments with gestural brushstrokes and vivid colors, often mixing paint directly on the canvas with a palette knife, to produce dreamlike and luminous works. “Randomness is a great part of my approach. I work with my feelings, exploring what’s hidden beneath and letting it surface,” she says. Stephanie studied mathematics at college but her lifelong interest in painting led her to later complete a Fine Arts degree at the University of Quebec, Montreal. In 2008 she stopped teaching mathematics in order to devote herself to her art. Since then she has exhibited her works at galleries in Canada, the US, Italy, and Spain. Her paintings are also held in private and corporate collections around the world.
“I am mesmerized by Stephanie’s dreamy abstract paintings. She carefully balances form with vivid jewel tones in her spontaneous compositions. ” Jessica McQueen, Assistant Curator

Fabio Coruzzi
“I love the rich detail in Fabio’s colorful depictions of city life. He captures not only the chaos, but the hidden beauty of the often overlooked everyday.”
28
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
“Each painting I make is like a poem about a place,” says Fabio Coruzzi. Born in Italy and now living in Los Angeles, his works depict the urban environments he visits and the people in them, with a current focus on his new home in California. He paints iconic neighborhoods – Venice Beach, Beverly Hills, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles freeways – capturing the architecture, billboards, storefront signs, and the endless blue Californian skies. Fabio creates his works with a combination of pastels, printmaking, mixed media, acrylics, watercolors, and ink pens. His work has been exhibited extensively in galleries throughout Europe and the US, including Los Angeles, New York, and London. His works sold out at Saatchi Art’s booth at the Affordable Art Fair New York in 2016.

ANNA CHURCH
Polish artist Agata Żychlinska graduated this year from Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław in Painting. Her focus is on the everyday, the ordinary, and also on color. She gives emotional expression to unlikely subjects – taking a bath, waiting for the phone to ring – and believes strongly that the foundation of a successful painting is drawing.
Originally from New Zealand and now living in Toronto, Anna Church is a self-proclaimed ‘sculptographer,’ creating photographs of found objects, ranging from taxidermy animal heads to fine china. A graduate of the National College of Design and Technology in New Zealand and Ryerson University in Toronto, Anna has had solo shows in Canada and New Zealand, and has been shown at art fairs including the Affordable Art Fair New York where her work was chosen to lead their 2016 marketing campaign.

GEORGIA NOBLE English artist Georgia Noble graduated in 2015 with a First Class BFA from Manchester School of Art where she won the Manchester Metropolitan Purchase Prize. Her paintings aim to transcend the conventions of traditional landscape painting in order to present the viewer with a sense of somewhere ‘other’. Georgia has participated in several shows in the UK, including an exhibition in London featuring a selection of the UK’s most exciting recent graduates.
ALE X JACKSO N Alex Jackson’s work deals with the history of black representation, particularly in the realm of historical and traditional portrait painting. He is in the second year of his MFA at Yale University, and his work has already been widely recognised by numerous awards and fellowships, most recently at the Dumfries House Residency at The Royal Drawing School in Scotland, and by collectors internationally.

IGOR BLEISCHWITZ
Sara Roberts describes herself as ‘an eternal foreigner’ – she was born in Sydney, Australia, grew up in Mexico, France, Sweden, and Poland, and returned to Sydney to study at Sydney College of Arts. Sara’s landscape paintings are evocations of places remembered and imagined, and have already found a strong international audience. She graduated with an MFA in Painting this year.
Cave paintings, antique frescoes, or the torn remnants of posters on the street inform the works of German artist Igor Bleischwitz, many of which reveal slivers of portraits. Igor graduated from the Hoschule für Kunst, Design und Populäre Musik in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany in 2011, and since then he has had many solo and group shows in Germany and Switzerland, at galleries including Subjectobject Gallery (Berlin), Kunstraum Foth (Freiburg im Breisgau), and DieWerbefläche (Zurich).

N E W YO RK , N E W YO RK
Since she left South Korea, Jessy Cho has been painting as a way of coping with missing her family, friends, and the country she left behind. Jessy trained in fashion and fiber arts at Parsons School for Design in New York and Ewha Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea, and she brings this experience to her delicate paintings with their careful composition of lines, angles, white space and flowing yarns – hardly visible unless viewed up close. Her art practice is one of combination – art and fashion, fabric and paint, her homeland and life in a new country. Jessy muses that although her paintings are a response to her past, they may also be a way of greeting the future. You can read more about Jessy’s work and tour her studio on Saatchi Art’s blog, Canvas.
“Jessy’s minimalist paintings are a refreshing mix of sophistication and calm. I find the fluidity of the blue motif in her works incredibly soothing.” Jessica McQueen, Assistant Curator

“A neon world of candy-colored madness that perpetually blinks in the artificial brightness of New York’s Times Square and the Shibuya district in Tokyo” is how Campbell La Pun describes his works. Using everything from stencils to aerosol and acrylic paint, his paintings take us on a dizzying trip through urban stencil art and the world of Japanese Kawaii cuteness and Kimochi sensations. Originally from Australia and now living in Japan, Campbell takes inspiration from pop culture iconography, advertising images, films, video games, and Japanese anime. He has had solos shows in Hong Kong, New York, and Paris, and has been featured in art fairs and group shows in Sydney, Melbourne and London. His works have been collected by people all over the world and have won him the title of Finalist at the prestigious Stencil Art Prize 3 years’ running.

Elizabeth Lennie

86
TORONTO, CANADA
Elizabeth Lennie is fascinated by water, attributing it as the backdrop to many significant moments in her life. An avid swimmer and scuba diver, Elizabeth paints leisure scenes inspired by childhood memories of summer, the fluctuating Canadian climate, and travels to the warm waters of the Caribbean. Her paintings, with their vibrancy and signature soft focus, often revisit the same image to evoke a summer experience familiar to many, albeit with different techniques. She experiments with thin washes of paint, thicker impasto layers, and sometimes adds cold wax and graphite to her works. Elizabeth studied at the Toronto School of Art and was the winner of the Artist Project Faces Competition People’s Choice Award in 2013. Her works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in Canada and are held in private collections in Canada, the US, UK, Australia, and Japan.
“I love being transported to different worlds by works of art. Elizabeth’s paintings evoke warm feelings of childhood holidays, sand between the toes, and not wanting the summer to end.” Rebecca Wilson, Chief Curator and VP, Art Advisory
