Ysabel LeMay
“I’m always excited when an artist brilliantly executes great ideas to create something you’ve never seen before. This is what Ysabel does with her technically breathtaking and stunningly beautiful works”
AUST I N , TE X AS
Growing up in Canada, Ysabel formed a deep early connection with the natural world at her family’s cottage in the wilderness of Quebec. Nature continues to be a hugely important part of her life as an artist. Ysabel shoots plants, animals and the elements, constantly replenishing her visual catalog of the living world. She then works like a painter (which she was before turning to photography), piecing together the moments in time she has captured with her camera into imagined spaces or what she calls “Wonderful Other Worlds”. Since winning the KiptonART Rising Program in 2011, Ysabel’s digitally composed panoramas have been shown in more than 70 exhibitions worldwide and acquired for the corporate collections of Chevron, Bloomingdale’s and Bacardi. In 2013 she participated in the Texas Biennial and in 2015 Saatchi Art featured her in ‘Western Reflections,’ a show held in Austin during SXSW.

Jonas Fisch
“Spontaneity and powerful expression are front runners in Jonas’ works. I could get lost in his complex puzzles of figures, words, and shapes for days”
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
Jonas was born in a small fishing village in Sweden and now lives in the metropolis of Los Angeles. Inspired to pursue his passion for painting by his grandmother, a well-known artist in Sweden, Jonas makes paintings influenced by street art and renowned artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Jackson Pollock. He uses his brush to express his innermost thoughts, often commenting on social issues as he combines words and images on the canvas. “At a certain point,” he says, “it’s like the painting takes on a life of its own and reveals itself. It’s the point of no return and I have to paint it, whatever it is.” Jonas exhibits extensively at galleries in Los Angeles, including Gallerie Sparta, Westmore Lofts, 533 Gallery, and Gallery Godo, and his works have been acquired by people all over the world. We love his work so much that we featured him in our One to Watch series in which we introduce emerging artists of particular promise.

PA R I S , F R A N C E
Interior scenes and the representation of the body are recurring subjects in Nushka’s paintings, as is the city of Paris where she studied. Elegant rooms, dramatic staircases, and beautiful women seem to be on the brink of disappearing before our eyes in Nushka’s ethereal world where the inner life of her subjects is left to our imaginations. Nushka studied Political Science at Sciences Po in Paris, but can’t remember a time when she didn’t paint. She has had several solo shows in France and internationally, and her evocative works are highly sought after by collectors all over the world. In 2013 we spotlighted her in our Invest In Art series, in which Saatchi Art Chief Curator Rebecca Wilson introduces some of the most exciting emerging artists working today – since then her paintings rarely remain on sale for long.
“I love the timeless quality of Nushka’s works and the sensuality of the paint, characterised by thick, impastoed brushstrokes” Katherine Henning, Associate Curator

A day in the life of Thomas Hammer N E W YO R K C I T Y
8:20am I’m not dogmatic about my morning routine, but when I have time to look out the window before starting my day I’m greeted with a view of glass and steel on Manhattan’s west side.
11:00pm My boyfriend and I arrive late and go straight to our airport hotel. We have a glass of wine at the bar and he’s patient with me while I take this last photo. It’s a long exposure so I have enough time to consider what it means to spend my day describing what makes my surroundings unique only to end with a photo of a generic non-place: an airport that looks the same as all airports around the world. 1:40pm Much of the street art here is organized by The Bushwick Collective. This mural is a Jay Z x Basquiat mashup by Owen Dippie.
8:40am The subway is one of those experiences that unites all New Yorkers. It’s loud, dirty, and overwhelming—but it’s efficient, sustainable, and it’s ours!
2:00pm And now I’m back at work. I’m excited to debut a new series of paintings on Saatchi Art. Unlike my ink works on paper, which are spontaneous and bold, these are quieter and more introspective. 9:02am My favorite time to be in my studio is in the morning when the radiant light streams through the windows like stained glass. I take time to settle in, have my coffee, and get to work.

5:00pm Today I’m venturing a bit outside my usual routine. It’s the beginning of the holiday weekend and I’m off to Seattle to visit some friends. On the train to JFK I pass by the unoccupied TWA terminal. It’s eerie seeing a modern monument so pristine yet desolate.

Isabelle Alford-Lago at work in her Venice Beach studio where she creates her signature gorilla paintings and drawings

A day in the life of Isabelle Alford-Lago LOS ANGELES
8:00am Morning is my favorite time of day. The beach is only a few blocks from my house so I will go running and sometimes swimming or surfing if I have the time. Being active outdoors always helps me clear my mind and feel energized.
6:00pm My Linus bike is a pretty sweet ride for getting around. The studio where I work is behind my house, so I’m lucky I don’t have to commute. I also have a car for going to other parts of LA, transporting supplies, or hitting the road for weekend trips.
12:30pm Gjelina (also known as GTA) has amazing coffee and food. I like coming here to sip a cappuccino and relax on the small hidden patio. It’s the best place for people watching.
9:00am For breakfast I love my eggs and toast, but lately summer has been calling for this combo of fresh fruit and granola over yogurt. I like to enjoy whatever is in season.

A N T W E R P, B E L G I U M
After working in the music industry for many years Koen started painting again and is now selling his works to people all over the world. He creates abstract paintings inspired by minimalism and color field painting, using a range of tools, from brushes and squeegies to his bare hands. He carefully layers oil paint on canvas, often waiting for months for one layer to dry before adding another. Each work combines overlapping colors, some planned and some unexpected as his paintings take on a life of their own. Koen’s works present abstracted views of landscapes he sees on his travels to places such as the Lake District in England and on his long walks in the Flemish countryside where ideas for each painting often begin. As he puts it, “I like to live in solitude and have my mind set on my creative process. These daily walks are perfect to put things and ideas in order.”
“I’m visually excited by the ethereal atmosphere of Koen’s paintings, which are at once minimal and soothing yet complex and dramatic” Hayley Miner, Director of Art Advisory to the Trade 61. Abstract N° 1290,

QUEEN S L AN D, AUSTR ALIA
Loui emigrated to Australia with his parents when he was a child, and after studying commercial and graphic art he worked for the Australian Army as an illustrator. These days he works as a full-time artist in a small studio in his backyard, drawing obsessively every day, filling books with ideas, cartoons and sketches. Ranging from portraits of pop icons and historical figures, to young lovers, ballet dancers, and portraits of women, Loui’s drawings are all made on pages from old books or musical scores, often stitched together to form large single sheets. His work has been featured in several solo exhibitions, as well as in numerous group shows, and his drawings have been acquired for private, corporate, and public collections around the world. To find out more about Loui and his process don’t miss our Inside the Studio interview with him on Canvas, the Saatchi Art blog.

“My passion is discovering emerging artists from all over the world and introducing their work to as many people as possible who share my enthusiasm.”
Hayley Miner
Director of Art Advisory to the Trade Before joining Saatchi Art, Hayley ran her own art consulting firm, advising private and corporate clients. She began her design career working for Michael S. Smith, the legendary designer for The White House. “When I’m helping designers find art for their projects I am energized by the process of collaboration and being able to show them the outstanding art in our inventory.”
Katherine Henning Associate Curator
Whether you are a seasoned collector, new to purchasing art, or an interior designer, our curators will recommend works tailored to your specific preferences and budget. This is a great way to speed up the process of finding works that match what you are looking for and gaining access to insider art knowledge. If you’d like to work with your own personal curator you can find out more at saatchiart.com/artadvisory or email us at curator@saatchiart.com. We look forward to helping you in your search for stunning artworks.
Katherine received her MA in History of Art and the Art Market: Modern and Contemporary Art from Christie’s Education, New York, and her BA in English Literature (Creative Writing) from the University of Southern California. “I love curating our Inside the Studio series. Exploring each artist’s studio and learning what makes them unique adds greater depth to their art.”
Jessica McQueen Assistant Curator
Jessica earned her B.A. in Art History and English Literature at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she focused on modern and contemporary art. “One of the greatest moments is when an artist makes their first sale – especially when the artwork is destined to a home on another continent.”
“The art world equivalent of having Anna Wintour come clothes shopping with you.” - Ima Ebong, Collector
