The Telugu Association of Greater Charlotte Area celebrated the 16th Anniversary of TAGCA Ugadi Sambaraalu on April 2, 2022. The evening featured dances, musical performances, raffles and food. TAGCA was formed on the Ugadi day of 2006 with an intention of preserving and promoting the Telugu cultural heritage and traditions. Contact: Tagca.org.
Triad Hindu Temple Food and Cultural Festival The Triad Hindu Temple hosted “Triad Food and Culture Fest” in Greensboro, on Saturday, April 9, 2022. The event was inaugurated by Kathy Manning, US Congresswoman representing North Carolina’s 6th District. The festival celebrated India’s diverse and rich culture through traditional & regional cuisines. There were 11 food stalls representing different states and regions of Photo Triad Hindu Temple India, selling over 80 varieties of vegetarian/vegan food. The event hosted over 1500 visitors from Triad and regional area. Volunteers set up the stalls with creative names, decor and unique menu cards. One of the event sponsors Krish Parlikad said, “The event was very successful, and this was the first time ever we saw so many people in the Temple. Temple board members Vijayam Mohan, Raj Varadarajan, Deepak Kumar did a great job in planning and executing the food festival.” The temple is located at 7751 Alcorn Rd, Greensboro. Pratham Gala 2022 Pratham Raleigh -RTP held their annual Gala and fundraiser on April 15, 2022. This purposeful evening was attended by 200 community members who enjoyed a fashion show by Reynaa Royalty, entrainment by SurFiray and a special live auction. Chief Saathee.com

The Future of Philanthropy: Youth Essay Contest The 3rd annual contest will offer middle and high school youth the opportunity to share their input with philanthropists and business leaders. The India Philanthropy Alliance (IPA), a U.S.based coalition of 15 nonprofit, philanthropic, and charitable organizations that operate programs in India, has announced its third annual essay competition to recognize creative thinking and action among middle school and high school students who care about the welfare of India and its people. The competition is an initiative designed to grow the culture of philanthropy among Indian Americans, particularly youth. A panel of philanthropy experts will determine the winners, runners-up, and finalists in two age cohorts. For middle school students, the essay length is 600 words or fewer, and for high school students, the limit is 1,200 words. The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2022.
