TAGCA Ugadi Sambaraalu 2022

The Telugu Association of Greater Charlotte Area celebrated the 16th Anniversary of TAGCA Ugadi Sambaraalu on April 2, 2022. The evening featured dances, musical performances, raffles and food. TAGCA was formed on the Ugadi day of 2006 with an intention of preserving and promoting the Telugu cultural heritage and traditions. Contact: Tagca.org.
Triad Hindu Temple Food and Cultural Festival
The Triad Hindu Temple hosted “Triad Food and Culture Fest” in Greensboro, on Saturday, April 9, 2022. The event was inaugurated by Kathy Manning, US Congresswoman representing North Carolina’s 6th District. The festival celebrated India’s diverse and rich culture through traditional & regional cuisines. There were 11 food stalls representing different states and regions of India, selling over 80 varieties of vegetarian/vegan food. The event hosted over 1500 visitors from Triad and regional area. Volunteers set up the stalls with creative names, decor and unique menu cards.
One of the event sponsors Krish Parlikad said, “The event was very successful, and this was the first time ever we saw so many people in the Temple. Temple board members Vijayam Mohan, Raj Varadarajan, Deepak Kumar did a great job in planning and executing the food festival.”

Pratham Gala 2022
Pratham Raleigh -RTP held their annual Gala and fundraiser on April 15, 2022. This purposeful evening was attended by 200 community members who enjoyed a fashion show by Reynaa Royalty, entrainment by SurFiray and a special live auction. Chief guest, Pratham USA CEO and Global Executive Manisha Bharti, spoke on Digital delivered study programs and Vocational training during Pandemic years and plan to re-energize programs and much needed support in its efforts to stem substantial learning loss that has occurred in India. Pratham programs support 20,000 communities and gives over a million needy students opportunities to learn and provides vocational training programs to 50,000 youth to prepare them for jobs and better livelihoods. Working in collaboration with government, communities, parents, teachers, and volunteers, Pratham focuses on innovative interventions to address gaps in the education system. The Future of Philanthropy: Youth Essay Contest
The 3rd annual contest will offer middle and high school youth the opportunity to share their input with philanthropists and business leaders.
The India Philanthropy Alliance (IPA), a U.S.based coalition of 15 nonprofit, philanthropic, and charitable organizations that operate programs in India, has announced its third annual essay competition to recognize creative thinking and action among middle school and high school students who care about the welfare of India and its people. The competition is an initiative designed to grow the culture of philanthropy among Indian Americans, particularly youth.
A panel of philanthropy experts will determine the winners, runners-up, and finalists in two age cohorts. For middle school students, the essay length is 600 words or fewer, and for high school students, the limit is 1,200 words. The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2022.

Guru Smt Mytreyi Aravind’s music school, Ganamrutha Academy is a Carnatic vocal music school in Cary, NC which trains students across USA and Canada. The school celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and was founded in May 2012 in New Jersey. The school is known for laying a solid foundation in the art form, stressing deeply on the fundamentals of vocal music along with a strong emphasis on cultural values.
The School has produced numerous winners in major state level competitions like SIFAA (Raleigh), Radha Krishna Temple of NC- Sanskriti, Regional level competitions like Papanasam Sivan Rasigar Mandram (in the TriState area), National level competitions like IndianRaga, Saptami Foundation (Dallas), Silicon Andhra Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam, JK Yog to name a few and several International level competitions like Global Carnatician, The Artiste, Kalasourabha by Veenadhari Institute (Bangalore) and others. The students have also performed widely across the USA and have contributed to many fundraisers including the Carolina Murugan Temple Foundation.
Guru Smt Mytreyi is a disciple of “Padma Bhushan” Late Sri PS Narayanaswami, who was a torch bearer of the Semmangudi school of thought, “Kalaimamani” “Sangeetha Kala Acharya” Papanasam Dr Rukmini Ramani and has underwent special voice training under Wesleyan University Emeritus Professor Late Dr SAK Durga. An Attorney by qualification, Guru Smt Mytreyi has performed extensively across USA, India, Singapore, and the Scandinavian countries and has lended vocal accompaniment to 40+ Bharatanatyam arangetrams across USA. Mytreyi has won prestigious first prizes in All India level Carnatic music competitions like Saarang at IIT (Madras 2010), Navya Nataka Samithi (Hyderabad 2009), NALSAR Law School (Hyderabad 2006). Darshana Exhibition, Concord NC
Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS), a non-profit organization working with the Indian diaspora organized a poster exhibition called “Darshana: A Glimpse into Hindu Civilization” in Concord, NC on April 10, 2022. The exhibition gives a glimpse into the Hindu Civilization and presents a concise overview of the Hindu Dharma concepts and practices helping both Hindus and non-Hindus understand the deep underlying concepts of Hinduism and its contributions to the world. HSS plans to organize more of this exhibition across all the major cities in US as part of its outreach and it is collaborating with other organizations to promote awareness on Hindu Dharma.
