The Statue of Liberty is a monumental sculpture erected on Liberty Island, a small island at the entrance to the port of New York (NY, USA). Its official name is "Liberty Enlightening the World." This is one of the most famous sculptures in the world, it was a gift from France to the United States to celebrate the centennial a hundredthanniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The Statue of Liberty belongs to the "National Park Service" since June 10, 1933. It is a US federal agency in charge of protection of national parks, national monuments, and other historic sites of national interest. It is classified in 1924 "National Monument" of the United States, and it was registered in 1966 in the National Register of Historic Sites. In 1976 she joined the remarkable sites of New York and since 1984 it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Statue of Liberty is located on Liberty Island in the lower New York Harbor, about 1 mile from Lower Manhattan. The Statue of Liberty is accessible by ferry service only.
