n the fall of 1949, the University of Hawai‘i College of Business Administration opened its doors to a small group of business students in the historic Hawai‘i Hall building. The curriculum at that time was limited to accounting, economics and industrial relations. As Hawai‘i’s economy grew, so did the College and its curriculum. Through the years, the College gained worldwide recognition for its excellence in international business education and became a leader among U.S. business schools in its focus on the Asia-Pacific region. On Sept. 6, 2006, the school was changed forever. The University of Hawai‘i Board of Regents voted to accept a $25 million donation from Jay H. Shidler. The school’s name is now the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Today, the College offers eight undergraduatedegree programs, 15 graduate degree programs and

a wide selection of certificate and high-impact executive programs. Shidler’s graduate and undergraduate programs are consistently ranked among the best in international business by U.S. News & World Report and the College has the only AACSB accredited graduate program in Hawai‘i.
