For Release: Dec. 2nd & 3rd Sabrina Slattery Intern at University of Idaho Foundation sabrinas@uidaho.edu (208) 964-1689 Vandals Celebrate Giving Tuesday MOSCOW, Idaho – This #GivingTuesday, the University of Idaho will hold a 24-hour fundraising campaign that will launch on Dec. 3rd to encourage funding for programs in the local community. To participate in #GivingTuesday, visit the U and I site uandigive.uidaho.edu/g/givingtuesday and donate a gift that will create an impact for several outstanding organizations. The focus for this year’s Giving Tuesday campaign is how University of Idaho programs impact not only U of I students, but also communities throughout all of Idaho in meaningful ways. Programs such as the FACES of Hope Victim Center located in Boise, ID, provide free legal services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Faces of Hope is just one example of the impact the University’s programs have on the lives of many. December 3rd is the global day of giving – a nation-wide movement that inspires people to give back and show generosity towards their community. The goal is to encourage individuals as a collective to donate to the several organizations and programs in the surrounding areas seeking support from the community. We have seven campaigns and our current goal is to receive ten donors for each. Each donation will allow these programs to continue their services. “When GivingTuesday launched in the US in 2012, we believed that technology and social media could be used to make generosity go viral,” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO and co-founder. “We believed in the idea that people fundamentally want to give and to talk about giving; and that the social sector had the capacity to show more innovative leadership, creativity, and collaboration.” This is a time for the Vandal family to come together and donate a gift to university departments and help these programs achieve their goals. We ask you to contribute to the programs highlighted in #GivingTuesday and show your Vandal pride!
