1. HISTORY AND MEANING OF THE STAR OF DAVID Also known as the Shield of David or "Māḡēn" in Hebrew, the Star of David is the most common symbol used today to express Jewish identity ... but it was not always so! In various passages of the Quran, David and Solomon were prophets and kings, and therefore the figures revered by Muslims.
