PRE-PRIMARY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER DATE: 8 November 2017
Dear Pre-Primary and Primary School Parents
GENERAL: FOR ALL PARENTS Important Information Re Orientation & Registration 2018: Saturday 2 December 2017 The whole purpose of this event, held annually on the last Saturday before the school year ends, is to ensure that parents are informed about what is happening at the school from a governance, organizational, curriculum and parental engagement perspective. It is also the only opportunity for parents to meet their child’s class teacher and the specialist teachers before the new year begins. Most importantly, the class teachers for 2018 will hand out a pack containing the administration forms to be completed on the day, as well as the dairy, the year planner and other vital information for parents about getting ready for 2018. We start the academic year off immediately on the 15th January with the Orientation Programme. Three2Six Packing The next packing of foodstuffs will take place on Thursday 16 November. There is also a Collect-a-Can drive for our final packing on 30 November and we are requesting that parents only send tins of pilchards and baked beans. Anyone able to assist with packing food for the project is asked to contact Dilshaad Mohammed on 071 124 8109. Parent Association The Primary School Parent Association is looking for a new PA chairperson for 2018. Anyone interested or who requires more information must please contact Veni Munien on 078 8048 508 or veni.munien@gmail.com. Improving Communication Our school has an open door policy and a shared leadership structure. Please follow the Lines of Communication on page 12 of the school diary when you have any queries or complaints so that issues can be addressed effectively by the responsible person. The Vision and Mission on page 152 and Partnership on page 168, clearly outline the school’s philosophy with regards to engagement at school, the aim of which is to build up the community. Your cooperation in this regard would be greatly appreciated. 1
PRE – PRIMARY SCHOOL Bike Rally Sponsorship Thank you to those parents who have returned their sponsorship forms. Those, who have not done so, please return the forms as soon as possible. We have raised R10 544 thus far! A special mention must be made of Max and Ben Coelho, who raised R950.00 each. Bhaveer Patel raised R960-00. Well done, boys! Sick Children Children must not be sent to school if they have a temperature or are vomiting. Please note that any medication your child is on, must be given to Rashida and should not be kept in your child’s bag. Labelling clothes Please make sure all clothing, including underwear and socks, are labelled. It is especially difficult when children are changing for swimming, to keep track of all their clothing. Saints Preschool Sacred Heart College has had a long affiliation with Saints Pre-school, which has been running from an Anglican Church in Kensington. Unfortunately, they have to close, due to financial reasons. There has been an appeal that we help feed the children until the school closes at the end of November. There are 140 children so who are looking to collect as much as possible. Parents can help by donating the following: Bread Chicken Margarine Potatoes Peanut Butter Oil Oats Cleaning materials Milk Plastic sleeves Maltabela Big report envelopes Mealie meal Typex paper Sugar Tinned fish Tomato puree Rice Lentils Macaroni Tea Rooibos tea Please leave food with Rashida and Sue will deliver it to the school at regular intervals.
