Join us for the exciting finale of Sacred Heart College’s Mindworks Week 2017 - Live The Dream Where: Sacred Heart College, 15 Eckstein Street, Observatory, Hockey/Cricket Field When: Thursday 3 August 2017 13:30-14:30 The management, staff and children would like to take this opportunity to thank every one of our parents who participated in Mindworks this week; whether on the committee, as a workshop facilitator or assistant, as a host in Headquarters or for the lovely eats. As always, there are those parents who go the extra mile, and without whom, the programme would not have come together. We thank the Mindworks Committee in particular, for their work over the past year to organize this amazing event. A huge and very special ‘thankyou’ must go to Penny Leong (Chair) and Marietjie Zimmermann for their fantastic input not only this year, but over many years. Some stayed late every day during Mindworks to prepare the activity for the following morning. We cannot thank you enough for making Mindworks a spectacular event! Please try to come to the Finale tomorrow at 13:30 on the Hockey/Cricket Field.

Staffing News We regret to inform you of the resignation of Teacher Shannon in Pink Group. Ms Shannon Exner will be emmigrating to Australia at the end of August. We take this opportunity to thank Ms Exner for the wonderful contribution to she has made to Sacred Heart College, and in particular, to the children under her care in the PrePrimary School. We wish her well in er new life in Australia. We are pleased to announce that Ms Thandi Mills will be the Pink Group teacher for Term 3. Ms Mills has an honours degree and is currently and intern while busy with her Master Degree. We look forward to an exciting 3rd Term.

On Friday, we say farewell to Ms Warrick who replaced Ms Douglas for Term 2. We thank her for the professional way in which she managed the class during Ms Douglas’ absence. We also want to thank Ms Sousa who finishes today, Ms Sousa replaced Ms Van Wyk while she was on long leave. We take this opportunity to wish Ms Moodley well for her long leave. Ms Moodley returns on 7 October. Break-Up Day School closes on Friday, 4 August at 11:00. Reports will be handed out at 11:00 only. Term 3 starts on Tuesday, 5 September. Reports: There are a number of letters and notices going out in this term’s report envelopes and we ask parents to look closely at them. They give a good deal of information about a number of things happening at the College. The most important of which are the Sacred Heart Fundraisers. We trust that parents are already buying tickets and benefitting from the early-bird prices. Pre –Primary and Primary School Inter-House Athletics The Inter- House Athletics is on Saturday, 9 September, the first Saturday in Term 3. Please note that this is a compulsory school day for all learners. The Parents Association has requested the following items /eats for the Inter-House Athletics event on 9 September. PRIMARY SCHOOL Foundation Phase- Cultivate a lifelong reading habit The holidays are approaching and we would like parents to read to the children, read with the children and encourage the children to read. Reading is a wonderful habit to develop. It’s a terrific boredom-buster and is fun for the whole family. 3


Stationery The children have been very busy this term and stationery needs to be replenished. Please ensure that your child has sufficient, and correctly labelled, stationery for the beginning of Term 3. Text books and stationery lists for 2018 Please see the letter in your child’s report envelope regarding the ordering of the Singapore text books and activity books for 2018. Orders need to be placed by the 8 September 2016. The costs of the books is as follows: - Grade 1-3 R450 -

Stationery lists and text books for other subjects will be forwarded to you in the first week of Term 3. Winter School Uniform - Term 3 All learners are to wear their winter school uniform from the beginning of the third term. The uniform consists of the yellow school tracksuit, PE shirt, white takkies and white socks for girls, and white takkies and grey socks for boys.
