CLUB SELECTION - SPRING 2019 Well Winter has been and gone, although I am not sure we really had one this year, it resembled more a Spring with only 2 days that didn't reach 15 deg Celsius, that’s crazy! At the same time, the dry spell has continued and over winter we received just 30mm of rain, well below the winter average of 160mm. So what does that mean for the vineyards? We should expect some early budburst and low yields this coming vintage. However as long as 'Mother Nature' plays nice and we can keep water up to the vines, the quality however should be top notch. Fingers Crossed!! Your Spring Club Equus Selection of wines have been selected for you to enjoy over the warm and sunny days of Spring. Included is the return of a crowd favourite, our Saddler’s Rosé, produced from 100% hand picked, Estate grown Cabernet, Shiraz and Merlot. It is fruit driven, dry and just begging for you to enjoy with your friends. The brand new 2018 Saddler's Tempranillo is from Hilltops, NSW. A medium bodied red that is jam packed full of yumminess. Expect loads of bright fresh fruit and slurplable tannins. This has already become a new favourite around the winery and with Club Equus Friends.
28 days of flowers While not in your Selection, another exciting new release wine is our 2019 Winemakers Craft Wild White. Following closely in the footsteps of the highly popular 2017 Winemakers Craft Wild Semillon, this wine has been produced from the Hunter Valley’s trio of varietal’s, Semillon, Chardonnay and Verdelho. A wine that is so aromatic your friends will think you have a new perfume! Layered in endless fruit, the finish is off-dry and will pair brilliantly with a wide range of cuisine, in particular anything with a bit of “get up and go” (aka spicey). The Wild White features a specially designed native flower label supporting the 28 days in flowers. Read over for more details. Cheers and enjoy your wines!

NEW RELEASE
2018 Saddler's Tempranillo HILLTOPS Pronouced 'TEM-PRA-NEE-YO'
NEW RELEASE
The dominant red grape in Rioja, Spain, this famous Spanish grape variety produces a medium to full bodied red wine. Tempranillo is the fourth-most planted variety in the world and is considered one of the nine red noble grapes. In Australia, it's no longer an experimental variety and is fast becoming a popular wine. This wine has a lovely bright garnet colour, heady aromas of fresh dark berries with highlights of white mountain pepper. The palate is savoury with medium weight, grippy tannins followed by delicious lingering black fruits. It is a complex wine which seems to evolve in the glass. We love this wine because of it's drinkability on it's own, while being hugely versatile with food. The tannin structure works to wipe the palate clean when paired with fatty meat dishes and balances well with spicy foods. The 2018 Saddler's Tempranillo will develop complexity quite quickly in bottle and suits medium term cellaring.
