UNDERGRADUATE THESIS: AVIATION TRAINING ACADEMY.

THE AVIATION INDUSTRY:

5

The aviation sector is one of the most significant sectors as it contributes to the economic growth of the nation by facilitating tourism and trade, two important generators of national income. This sector enables us to be able to overcome the geographical barriers between states, countries or continents. In terms of employment, this industry is truly rewarding. The country is focusing on modernization of the aviation industry which involves construction of new airports and modernization of existing ones, airport connectivity infrastructure development, new and improved aviation training schools with state of the art technology and infrastructure and devising ways to reduce cost and yet provide modern aviation facilities at various small cities. This up gradation indicates the growing potential of this domain. The Indian aviation industry provides highly lucrative careers and thus is a major attraction amongst the youth of India.

AIM:

To create an Aviation Training Academy designed to cater to all the fields of civil aviation at an institutional level also rather than only at an industrial level. NEED FOR STUDY (JUSTIFICATION) : •

Hyderabad has been ranked 2nd best place for tourism in the world and this adds on the pressure for best of the trade flight experiences.

After the construction of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, the old Hyderabad airport is being used as an aviation flight training academy, but it lacks proper institutional infrastructure and other requirements of an academy which is built solely for the purpose of learning/teaching.

A live proposal is being made by the Government of Telangana to set up three more Aerospace and defence parks in the city over the next four years.

"The idea is to make Telangana a hub of aerospace and defence where all activities, including R&D,

manufacturing, incubation, will be provided at one place."

Arvind Kumar, the Telangana Industries and Commerce Secretary. OBJECTIVES: • The main objective is to provide an environment which engenders more of a modern campus-style aesthetic, rather than the bland 1980s’ industrial back room feel. • To justify for all aspects of aviation on a single premises. • Create large, unobstructed internal zones. • •

Creating an openness that allows a smooth connectivity between outdoor landscaping and indoor civic space. Minimize impact on environment by making use of innovative elements, such as high performance materials and solar roadways

SCOPE: • To meet the needs of the various courses offered at the academy. • Designing for both institutional and industrial aspects of aviation focusing on requirements and demands of current times. • Providing and sustaining an active space for a diversity of activities

SITE SELECTION: • Live proposal of 500 acres for an aerospace and defence park at Adibatla, Ibrahimpatnam. • Required area: 140 acres to cater for a fleet of 15 aircrafts.
