CONTENT The Gospel of Matthew is the story of Jesus of Nazareth, documented by the apostle Matthew as an undeniable eyewitness that Jesus is the predicted Messiah, who brought the kingdom of God to this world for both Jews and Gentiles. For that reason, the author is particularly interested in demonstrating Jesus’ messianic identity, His inheritance of the Davidic kingdom, and the way He is the accomplishment of the promise made to Abraham. To do it, he presents Jesus’ genealogy and emphasizes that many events in Jesus’ life were predicted by the ancient prophets. In this Gospel Jesus is portrayed as the true king of Israel.
