COST ACTION FA 1101 Omics Technologies for Crop Improvement, Traceability, Determination of Authenticity, Adulteration and Origin in Saffron.
“Saffronomics
Training School in Saffron Proteomics University of Parma Department of Pharmacy Parma, Italy
In collaboration with the Italian Mass Spectrometry Society, under the sponsorship of the Interdepartment Centers SITEIA.PARMA and CIM.
Aims The main aim of the training school will be to present the different proteomic methods applied to the characterization of saffron quality and origin, and the identification of saffron protein pattern, under different conditions. The basic principles and latest tools of gel-free and gel-based methods, 2D electrophoresis, MALDI TOF-TOF and LC-mass spectrometry will be presented. Practical activities will be carried out on saffron samples using gel scanning, analysis and comparison, spot picking, and protein identification from tryptic digestion. Total number of admitted candidate trainees will be 18, with up to 9 that will be reimbursed by COST office and 2 by the Italian Mass Spectrometry Society. Only 13 trainees will be admitted to both oral and practical activities.
