Discount Tickets to Michael Issac's Making it Happen in Chicago - Friday, Nov. 3 Michael Issac's Making it Happen in Chicago is the first one-hour comedy special for Chicago native and award-winning comedian Michael Issac. Using an autobiographical style with a high-energy delivery, Issac discusses topics from why he decided to stay in Chicago instead of leaving for L.A. or New York to learning his alphabet in Spanish in Chicago public schools. He also talks about how sensitive we have become as a society and how growing up on the South Side has prepared him for his travels all over the country. Issac is a regular headliner at Zanies Comedy Club in Chicago and has been seen on Windy City After Dark, Chicago's One Night Stand-Up, Chicago Fire and Empire. He is also one half of Issac & Evans. SAG-AFTRA members, staff and family at the 2017 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk on Saturday, Oct. 21. New Member Orientation - Tuesday, Nov. 14 New members represent the future for SAG-AFTRA. The more knowledgeable they are, the stronger our union and all members are. The goal of the New Members Subcommittee of SAGAFTRA Chicago's Community Outreach, Community Organizing committee is to educate, engage and empower professional actors from the moment they become union members. The new member orientation event is only one part of that process. Topics covered include every step involved in the union experience, from initiation fees and the dues structure to the correct way to execute member reports and contracts. Other areas include agents and commissions, casting directors, resolving claims, health coverage, set demeanor, committees, staff and a variety of member benefits.


New member orientations are not just for new members. Whether you joined yesterday or 20 years ago, all members in good standing are welcome. Plan now to attend the next new membership orientation and stay informed. SAG-AFTRA Conservatory Presents Quick On-Camera Prep with Janelle Snow - Monday, Nov. 20 In an ever-changing climate of last-minute auditions, how does the actor/artist step up to meet that demand competently? Come learn how you can quickly, efficiently and creatively prepare for that audition in less than 24 hours. Janelle Snow is a graduate of Northwestern and Harvard Universities and has been active in the Chicago acting community for more than two decades, appearing on stage at the Goodman, Steppenwolf, Victory Gardens, American Theatre Company, Chicago Dramatists, Eclipse Theatre, Circle Theatre and more, picking up multiple Jeff nominations and awards along the way. She has been a union member since 1998 and is a former Chicago Local Board member. 2017 DCASE Individual Artists Program Grants The Individual Artists Program aims to assist Chicago's professional artists in creating work that elevates their careers and brings value to the City of Chicago. Project-based grants will be made to resident Chicago artists over the age of 18 across numerous disciplines and through six funding categories. Click here for the application and guidelines. The application deadline is Dec. 1, 2017, at 5 p.m. CST. All applicants are encouraged to attend an application assistance workshop. Attendance is only required if you have not attended a workshop in 2015 or 2016. The free workshop schedule is as follows: Workshops at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E.
