SAG-AFTRA Conservatory Presents How to Get Your Work to Creatives in Today's Market. What Are They Looking For? Join us for an evening with three industry insiders to discuss how to market to creatives. Scheduled to be on the panel: James "Stump" Mahoney of FCB Chicago and Robert Marshall of Source-Connect, with Tim Dadabo as moderator. Join us for the 23rd Annual Black Harvest Film Festival (Aug. 5-31), the Midwest's largest black film festival, with over 60 films and guests galore. Click here for more information. 2017 Chicago Theater Bike Ride on Sept. 9 Come out to celebrate and support the vibrant Chicago theater community at the third annual Chicago Theater Bike Ride. The Ride was created in September 2014 to memorialize SAGAFTRA member Molly Glynn, actor and mother of two, with a mission to support fellow artists in times of greatest need. When: Saturday, Sept. 9, 11 a.m., First ride wave at noon. Community potluck barbeque at 1:30 p.m. Where: Foster Beach 5200 N. Lake Shore Drive at the Lake Chicago, IL 60640 The 12-mile bike ride starts at Foster Beach, takes a short loop up to Osterman Beach and then south to the turnaround at North Avenue Beach, ending back at Foster Beach. Register here. Suggested minimum ride donation is $25. Donations of any amount are accepted even if not participating in the bike ride. The 2017 fundraising goal is $15,000 and 200 riders. The ride has had increased donations, ridership and gifts each successive year.
Roy W. Dean Film Grant - Win, Shoot, Score with Film Grant Applications are now being accepted for the fall Roy W. Dean Film Grant. Winner receives $3,000 cash, $30,000 in film services to shoot and finish their project, including a film score! Grant seeks films that are unique and contribute to society. Projects can be documentaries, short films, features or web series. Deadline for submission is Sept. 30. Each applicant for the grant receives a consultation on their project from a member of From The Heart Productions, which sponsors the grant. Click here to learn more and apply for the grant.
