SAG-AFTRA Chicago and IFP Chicago Presents At the Table: A Script Reading Series SAG-AFTRA Chicago and IFP Chicago are working together to launch an exciting new event: At the Table: A Script Reading Series. This quarterly table-reading series will be an opportunity for filmmakers to hear their productionready scripts read exclusively by SAG-AFTRA actors, who will bring their written word to life while being seen by the decision-makers. The reading will happen in the KMRC before a live audience of SAG-AFTRA and IFP members, invited guests, producers and investors. Each quarter, a notice will be published in The Activator, encouraging members to submit headshots and resumes for consideration for roles in the reading. Since The Activator notices may not give a lot of lead time, we will also be keeping a list of interested members who will get notified by email when it is time to submit for consideration. If you would like to be added to the database of interested SAGAFTRA performers, please email kathy.byrne@sagaftra.org. We will be launching the series with a table-read of the script Girl with Child, which won the Chicago International Film Festival Pitch Contest. Due to the short timeframe and the bilingual nature of our kickoff project, a call for bilingual actors has already gone out to talent agencies. The table-read is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. in the KMRC. If you are interested in attending the read as an audience member, please rsvp to kathy.byrne@sagaftra.org. If you are a filmmaker with an advanced development script and are interested in having your script be considered for this series, please look for details in the next Activator. We will be doing a call for entries for the March reading, with a submission deadline at the end of January. At the Table: A Script Reading Series is an unpaid stage performance presented to a live audience. Casting will be based on vocal quality and characterizations. We are committed to diverse, inclusive casting. For every role, please submit qualified performers, without regard to race, age, color, national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity, disability or any other basis prohibited by law, unless otherwise specifically indicated.
