SAG-AFTRA Conservatory Save the date to join us for a special event on March 22, 6 - 8 p.m. in the KMRC, The State of Voiceover Work: Online Casting, How Do We Fit In? Panel guests to include a voice agent, studio producer, engineer, ad agency rep and online casting rep. Watch for updates in the next Activator. RSVP to kathy.byrne@sagaftra.org. Park at 10 East Ontario. Enter on the north side of Ontario between Wabash and State, and then take a ticket. When you sign in, you may purchase a four-hour ticket for $13 cash, $14 Visa, MasterCard or American Express payment. You will need both tickets to exit the parking structure. Safety On Set Seminar Cedric Jackson, SAG-AFTRA's director of stunts and safety, will be in Chicago to conduct a seminar on safety on set. If you have questions about what constitutes a stunt upgrade if you are a principal or background performer, what you should do if you feel unsafe on a set, or anything else you want to know about safety in the workplace, this is the seminar for you. Member Discount to Academy Awards Reception The Davis Theater and Carbon Arc Bar & Board are hosting a reception and live viewing of the 90th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 4 at 5:30 p.m. The event is open to the public, but a special offer has been extended to SAGAFTRA members. Tickets are $25 per person or two for $40. The price of the ticket will include hors d'oeuvres and one glass of Champagne. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the KMRC and the Alzheimer's Association. When: Sunday, March 4. 5:30 p.m. reception, 7 p.m. free viewing of the Academy Awards at the theater next door. . W&W (Wages and Working Conditions) Meeting The SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local will be convening a W&W (wages and working conditions) meeting for the upcoming contract negotiations for the National Code of Fair Practice for Network Television Broadcasting. Shows that have recently been covered by the code in the Chicago area include The Detroiters, Hot Date and Judge Mathis. If you have worked on any of these productions and are interested in sharing your ideas and coming up with proposals for the national negotiating committee, you are encouraged to attend.

SAG-AFTRA Releases Sexual Harassment Code of Conduct SAG-AFTRA released a code of conduct on sexual harassment as part of a broader program to protect its members and to confront harassment and advance equity in the workplace. Read more here. Overwhelming Response to Self-Taping Seminar Jim Dougherty's Feb. 26 self-taping seminar drew so much interest that we held two sessions. Keep an eye out for future conservatory information. Hope to see you there!
SAG-AFTRA Table Read Series The SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local will launch the next chapter in its table read series At the Table on March 26 at the KMRC, with a reading of The Year Between, a script by Alex Heller. If you are interested in submitting for a role, please email kathy.byrne@sagaftra.org, and she will send you the character breakdown and submission information. Submission deadline is March 9. If you previously submitted to be included in the database for this program, you should have received the information by now.
Volunteer Day SAG-AFTRA members and staff volunteered at the Chicago Greater Food Depository on Feb. 16. Our volunteer group packaged approximately 230 pounds of sweet potatoes per person, which totaled over 15,000 pounds packaged for local food banks.
