SAG-AFTRA Conservatory Presents Create Your Own Content Learn from fellow members how to produce your own work. Moderated by Troy Pryor (founder and CEO of Creative Cypher & Troy Pryor Studios) When: 6 - 8 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2015 Where: KMRC, 1 E. Erie, Suite 660, Chicago Please RSVP to Kathy Byrne at kathy.byrne@sagaftra.org. Park at 10 East Ontario Enter on the north side of Ontario between Wabash and State, and then take a ticket. When you sign in, you may purchase a four-hour ticket for $13 cash, $14 Visa, MasterCard or American Express payment. You will need both tickets to exit the parking structure. This meeting is only open to paid-up SAG-AFTRA members in good standing. Unfortunately, no guests allowed. Parents/guardians of younger performers under 18 years old are welcome. SAGAFTRA members, please bring your membership card (paid through Oct. 31, 2015) for admittance. Special Tickets for MiHiChi Presents at Zanies The first Monday of each month, SAG-AFTRA member Michael Issac hosts MiHiCHi Presents at Zanies Comedy Club. SAG-AFTRA members and guests are eligible for special $2 tickets for the Aug. 3 show. The Zanies two-item (food/drink) minimum per person still applies. Created by Michael and comedy partner Calvin Evans, MiHiCHi (Making it Happen in Chicago) Presents is a multimedia comedy show featuring stand-up along with sketch comedy and music. When: Monday, Aug. 3, 2015 Where: Zanies, 1548 N. Wells, Chicago Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m. If you would like to attend - please double check your calendar and make sure you can use the tickets - please RSVP to Linda Swenson at linda.swenson@sagaftra.org. Submit Your Nominations for American Scene Awards: Deadline Aug. 4 Is there a fantastic SAG-AFTRA TV show, movie or Web series that you've noticed routinely employs people of color, people with disabilities, women, seniors, or people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender in an authentic way? Is there an amazing union commercial, news broadcast or radio program that includes diverse faces and voices? Now's your chance to nominate that project for a SAG-AFTRA American Scene Award! American Scene Awards are given to union productions that most intelligently and progressively employ the talents of our diverse membership and recognize those producers whose projects exemplify their commitment to the employment of SAG-AFTRA's diverse talent pool. Detailed information about American Scene Awards and an online application form is available at SAGAFTRA.org/asa. SUBMISSION DEADLINE is 4 p.m. CDT, Tuesday, Aug. 4. Recipients will be announced prior to the awards program held during the SAG-AFTRA National Convention, Oct. 1-4. CFL and ARISE Team Up for Labor in the Pulpit, on the Bimah, in the Minbar This Labor Day weekend (Sep. 5-7), the Chicago Federation of Labor and ARISE Chicago will once again team up for Labor in the Pulpit, on the Bimah, in the Minbar. This is a unique opportunity to highlight the shared values of the labor and faith communities. Your help is needed. Currently, volunteers are being recruited to speak to congregations throughout the area. You can register to speak to your own congregation, if available, or speak at another place of worship. To volunteer, fill out the online form. If you have any questions, please email Andrea Kluger at akluger@chicagolabor.org. This event is being produced and administered by entities independent of SAG-AFTRA. 48 Hour Film Project Chicago The 13th annual 48 Hour Film Project Chicago will be held Aug. 14-16. Please know that if you plan to assemble a team or are invited to be on a team, there is a SAG-AFTRA Short Film Agreement specifically for the 48 Hour Film Project. The correct paperwork is on their website at http://48hourfilm.com/sag-aftra. So, if you participate in this event - please make sure that your team files the correct paperwork with the organizers and/or SAG-AFTRA staff.
