CONSTRUCTION JOURNAL- WEEK 4 This week’s lecture was focused on explaining the A02 full size projects of which I have chosen the span- man project and how we should go about presenting it in three slides the following week. This week’s readings were focused on the material strength and the composite actions where we focused on the basic materials such as steel and concrete. It is interesting to know about the different processes concrete goes under to become hard and how it is reinforced using steel grids because it functions to support the concrete from flowing out. Along with studying these materials, I was more familiarized with the terms “tension”, “shear forces”, “stress”, “stiffness”, “strain”, “elasticity” and a couple more terms. In the tutorial, we were given a worksheet for which we had to study different construction lay out maps with different sections. At first, it was complicated but as more time was given to understanding the symbols and abbreviations on the maps, things started to become clearer.
