2 Sage Ridge Annual Report
A WORD FROM NORM At a recent admissions event, a visitor asked how well Sage Ridge prepared students for college. The student panelists were eager to answer. They cited the school’s national recognition for excellence, the students’ extraordinary results on AP exams, and their successes in the competitive arena of college admissions. All of this was both accurate and important, but the answers also struck me as missing a vital point. “At the risk of embarrassing the student panelists,” I noted, “the poise they have just demonstrated sets our graduates apart. Beyond the formal metrics of our program, our students leave here knowing who they are. They know how to speak for themselves and they 3 Sage Ridge Annual Report
have a passion for learning.” This is the school our many donors have made possible. Our students have participated in activities ranging from a genomics conference in La Jolla to a JCL competition in Las Vegas. They have shined in debate and in athletics. Most importantly, our students have been under the care of a truly outstanding faculty. All of this makes Sage Ridge the remarkable school it is, and all of this is a tribute to the school community’s generous support. I could not be more proud or more grateful.

ANNUAL FUND
$332,794
The Annual Fund is an essential part of the school’s budget, covering costs beyond those paid by tuition. Schools throughout the nation conduct Annual Fund campaigns to fill the gap between tuition income and the school’s actual expenses. At Sage Ridge, this gap is approximately $2000 per year for each student.
100% of 5th grade familes donated to the Annual Fund

The Fundraising Event of the Year. The annual Gala is Sage Ridge School’s largest social and fundraising event of the year. Funds raised help the school provide essential resources and services. This year our Gala paid for new vans and an upgrade to our technology department.

LOOKING FORWARD. The Sage Ridge curriculum is vibrant and ambitious. In addition, the school offers a range of exceptional programs: Genomics, Robotics, Debate, the Arts, Athletics and Outdoor Education. But we’re not stopping there: We’ve established a 4th grade for the first time in our history. Incoming 9th grade students have a choice between Conceptual Physics, the course we’ve offered for many years, or a new course, Physical Science, with a curriculum created by retiring Science Department Chair, Laurie Bissonette.
17 Sage Ridge Annual Report
We’ve created a Grandparents Circle, offering Grandparents an opportunity to stay connected with the school throughout the year. Our new “Parents as Resources” program will provide opportunities for parents and other members of the community to share their expertise, serve as mentors and offer internships.

rive anywhere in Reno and you can’t help but notice the city is alive, growing and dynamic.
When you support a school of this quality, you help students realize their potential; you also help Reno realize its potential.
A city needs many assets if it is to succeed – and excellent education is surely one of the most important.
Your generosity allows the school and the community to thrive.
This brings me to Sage Ridge. Though we opened our doors less than twenty years ago, Sage Ridge has been recognized as one of the nation’s premier independent schools. This recognition reflects the excellence of our educational program. More than that, as it prepares students for success in college and beyond, Sage Ridge ignites curiosity and promotes respectful, ethical behavior. 19 Sage Ridge Annual Report
I thank you in advance for your continuing support.
