Let’s look at an example to get started

Let’s suppose you work for a company called Panoply Tech. You want to create a Training Course module in Sage CRM for Panoply Tech that tracks courses and related information about students and trainers. Students are based on the standard Person entity.

Here’s an example

You’ll create a custom entity called Trainer that relates to Person. And a custom entity called Training Course that relates to both Person and Trainer. When you add information about students and trainers to the Training Course entity, you can see a summary of all training information on one screen.

A trainer can have many students, so select a one to many (1-M) relationship between Trainer and Person.

Choose CRM features for your entity


You can display the Trainer entity in personal and team lists. You can link files and attachments to it. And include it in workflows and reports.

Add fields to capture data‌


Some fields are added to the entity by default; you can add others to suit your needs. Click Add a new field and choose from a photo link, radio buttons, check boxes, multiline text and more.

Part 2: Creating a custom entity called Training Course

Describe your new entity


Now you’ll create a custom entity that includes new information about training courses and existing information from the Person and Trainer entities. Open Sage CRM Builder and work through the six easy steps. Name and describe the entity and choose an icon. sagecrm.com


Create relationships to other entities


A Training Course can have many Students, so set a one to many (1-M) relationship with Person. It can have only one Trainer, so set a many to one (M:1) relationship with Trainer.

Choose CRM features for your entity


Leave all the boxes checked so you can use all the great Sage CRM features for this entity.

Add fields to capture data


Use different field types to capture course information: • Add date fields to plan the duration of the course. • Add a radio button to record the number of places. • Add a cascading lookup field to choose the type of training. • Add a currency field to set the price. sagecrm.com


Design the summary screen


Arrange fields and headers on the Training Course Summary screen. This is where you add tables and fields from the Person and Trainer entities.

Build your new entity


Congratulations! You’ve successfully created your custom Training Course entity sagecrm.com


When you’ve built your Training Course entity, you can begin to add PanoplyTech course information to Sage CRM.

When you add student, trainer, and training course information, it’s all displayed on the Training Course summary screen. This new module helps you to easily manage courses.
