THE RIGHT LINE FOR EVERY FISH What fly angler hasn’t watched footage of giant great whites crushing towed seal decoys and wondered, Hmmm…spun deer-hair seal popper? Could I cast that? Of course, we realize building the perfect line for every fish might not be possible, but that continues to be our goal at RIO. Along the way, we’re proud to have helped expand the concept of “fly water” to include nearly every form of liquid H20 on the planet, from tiny creeks and farm ponds to brawling rivers, great lakes, tide rips, surf, flats and the deep blue sea. Sure, we’re fish crazy. We readily admit it. But check out our innovative new fly lines for 2019 and we think it’ll all make sense. As for those great whites, we’ll get back to you as soon as we figure it out. This season, we introduce more lines to expand your fishing possibilities. DirectCore In hot, humid conditions, DirectCore lines provide the stiffness you need to fire into the wind, with significantly reduced memory. Which means your line lies straighter on the water for a more direct connection to fly and fish. DirectCore is also 25% stronger than other monofilament cores of equal size, and stretches 30% less at breaking point. In short, DirectCore makes you a better angler on the flats, in the mangroves and off the beach.

COATING TECHNOLOGIES MaxFloat Tip Tired of floating lines that sink? Fact is, the reduced coating at the narrow, tapered end of most floating lines doesn’t have enough buoyancy to stay above water. MaxFloat Tip Technology floats more than twice as high as regular line tips, without any increase in diameter. That puts maximum floatation right where you need it for reduced drag, longer presentations and quieter pickups.

MaxCast MaxCast lines float higher, shoot farther, last longer and stay cleaner. The secret? MaxCast’s hydrophobic chemistry, which actively pushes water away from the line, resulting in radically improved floatation and reduced dirt adhesion. It also allows the line to slip more easily from the surface film for longer, quieter pickups.

THE RIO PERCEPTION is an excellent all-around, general purpose fly line that is suitable for casting most nymphs, streamers, dry flies and soft hackles. Each line is built on RIO’s lowmemory DirectCore that is extremely easy to anneal (stretch) and lies perfectly straight on the water, yet retains the stiffness needed to cast in hot conditions. Each line has a short, quickloading head that will easily cast and turnover typical large flies, and a range of density options ensures anglers are covered for all species, conditions and waters. The F/I has a floating running line, with a 30ft intermediate head, of which the front 10ft is clear.
