In late November at the big Braybrook fair in the warm springtime air


The mayor took stage in the centre of town and called out to the people “Gather ‘round! Gather ‘round!”


a goose with white feathers and ocean blue eyes. Her elegant neck held her head high and proud She happily cried ONK! ONK! to the crowd.


Young Trilomena held her ticket quite tightly And vowed if she won she would not take it lightly

“And the winner...”, boomed the mayor, “is Trilomena Thomas!”


Trilomena skipped home with her goose at her feet along Churchill Avenue towards Athol Street And what should I call her? How about... Pollyanna!�


Pollyanna gave a happy ONK! as if to say “GREAT!”


put on his specs and then gasped in surprise.


Vincent and Marg and my great uncle Bruce, All of the Thomases love a big christmas goose!�


Trilomena went quiet. Had she misunderstood?

that without a good plan her goose would be cooked.


They tried to think of a way they were able


Trilomena constructed a beautiful nest You can request it, demand it, insist or beg,


It was 6am on a warm Christmas morning and while the rest of the house was still stretching and yawning Trilomena crept quietly out the back door And found a surprise that was not there before



Pollyanna had saved them as a Christmas surprise “For dinner”, smiled mum, “how about salmon mousse?” Because all of the Thomases love Pollyanna the goose.




When Trilomena Thomas wins a beautiful white goose in a raffle at the big Braybrook fair, she her whole family are overjoyed, but not for the same reason! Trilomena and Pollyanna have to find a way to convince Trilomena’s parents that Pollyanna is a beloved family pet, and not the main course at The Thomas family Christmas dinner.
