First cogeneration plant in the Spain’s industrial sector.
Saica acquires the shares of what is today Saica Pack Lisboa, becoming an industry leader in Portugal.
Saica expands into France with Saica Paper and Saica Pack businesses.
Saica leads the way in reducing grammage, with the first machine capable of producing a 75 g/m2 grammage for packaging paper.

The group expands into Italy, the second largest market for corrugated cardboard in Europe.

Saica consolidates its commitment to flexible packaging with the purchase of several companies in Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

Natur Cycle Plus and Saica Flex: New low density polyethylene factory and the acquisition of a flexible packaging production facility.
The group expands into Turkey through the purchase of a local corrugated cardboard producer, Saica’s first production facility in Asia.
New energy recovery plant. We prevent 450,000 tonnes of waste from the production process being sent to landfill.
Purchase of several corrugated packaging plants, giving rise to a project to build a new paper mill.
Purchase of two corrugated packaging plants, one in the United Kingdom and another in Ireland.
